I used to think this sounded cool when I was in middle school, now as an adult and low mileage lbz owner, I’m so glad my truck has 0 mods
Yup my other truck is bone stock, bought off the original owner. I prefer it. I've put the stock exhaust back on and that quieted it down tremendously, but I prefer the stock turbo and will be reverting this to stock in my ownership.
Sounds so good but I imagine would be hell driving an hour back and forth to work everyday

Unbearably loud it was. The video I posted after this, stock exhaust went back on the truck. I still don't like the turbo noise with the stock exhaust
I like it; but it does need a bit of muting, I agree with your decision to muff it down a tad there.

It's honestly too loud for me. I don't think video even does it justice of how ear piercing it is. I got two small kids, so a muffler will be going on soon.
Your hearing loves you lol. High pitches cause hearing loss much faster than lower pitches.
I just bought this truck a week before making this video. I gutted the interior, to sound deaden, and I have a massive muffler in the garage that will be going on.

@@Bourre-wb4xb here it was on 16" American racing outlaw ii's with vision center caps, and 33x12.5 master craft courser mud terrains. It looked great but tires were trash. In my newer video, it's on the same wheels and 285/75/16 General Grabber ATs which are a far better tire for what I need

oh i agree. i bought this truck like this. I already have a muffler waiting to go on and will take additional measures if that doesn't quiet it down enough.
I took my 10 blade 6.0 with a 5” pipe on a 3000 mile round trip. I could hear whistling when I shut the truck off. This is crazy.
@@Keith-jp6jw stock exhaust is now back on it, but honestly may be ditching the turbo altogether. I didn't put it on, was on the truck when I bought it

i have a straight piped 3 inch turbo back exhaust on my 2016 golf gti no valves no nothing straight balls to the wall at all times loud and i can deal with that but this , this i just don’t think id be able to and this is the first time i think ive ever said a turbo sounded anoyying

I do. I currently have the interior gutted and sound proofing / deep cleaning it, but once there's seats in it again that I can drive, i'll get a video. By then, It might also be with a muffler on it to quiet it down a bit.
What kind of difference have you noticed with this turbo? Fuel mileage, spooling time when carrying load, no load any lag, have u noticed EGTs differences? Too loud?
Well I bought the truck with this turbo on it, and an unknown tow tune on it. So I can't give you an accurate answer to most of your questions unfortunately because I do have two other of these trucks as well but neither of them are stock either for me to properly compare it. EGTs are unknown, I don't have a probe. It's definitely a little laggier than a stick setup but then comes in harder, but again unknown tow tune. Fuel mileage, is a pain point on this truck right now. It needed a bunch of maintenance and had sticking brake calipers, so none of that is helping. Maintenance is done, I'm doing brakes tomorrow, so hopefully I see some improvement there not constantly fighting friction. But louder. My god. It's unbelievably loud this turbo. Ear piercing. I took the exhaust off the truck and put a stock one on. My other truck has a 4" straight pipe on a stock turbo and that doesn't bother me at all. This one though was unbearable.
I got the rds 64 9blade, gained quite a bit power/torque wise, way lower egts, it responds about the same as stock lag wise, fuel milleage is the same

Man I just installed my 9 blade on my lbz and I was about to order 5inch I still have factory cat and 4inch mbrp muffler but definitely just gonna remove my cat I like the sound but on a long drive it would get old
Straight Pipe 5" with this turbo was ungodly loud. I just put the stock exhaust back on, and I'm much happier. Video of that is up as well.

Did you have to retune it after the turbo and exhaust?
This turbo is allegedly designed to work with stock tuning on the LBZ. However I'll likely be tuning in the future.

Master Craft Courser mxt. 305/70/16. They were absolutely miserable. I tossed them and got general grabber atx

@@AlexHernandez-lb7pg I went to a slightly narrower tire actually. These were 305/70/16 and I went down to a 285/75/16
@@LarryFopps sweet! Any issues with that set up? I got my newest set of tires from discount and the biggest they would put on is a 265. So I’m running those until they’re gone and I’ll look at the size you went with. I’m really digging the oe wheels. The truck had some off set wheels that I wasn’t to crazy about then I ran some 20 inch 5 star oe replicas. And then found an original set super cheap and had them polished.
passenger side window regulator is gonna die on you
Passenger rear already did. If the front does I'll replace that too
Beware the 9 blade turbines have serious problems with blowing the tips off the turbine blades

Probably would depend on who it’s made by
@@LarryFopps lesser blade turbines are considered "High pressure" turbines and the sound is part of the effect. Because the tips are exposed to much higher local pressures they're more prone to be blown off. We had it happen twice before going backwards to the 10 blade to make it live

@@michaeleni4589 16" 305/70/16 stock suspension just turned the front up for it to sit closer to level than stock rake

They're vision something. I believe long discontinued. But American racing outlaws are the same design
