If it takes you forever to put your lenses in, don’t be discouraged!! It took me a few weeks to get used to it. At first it took me 10+ minutes to get them in, and now I can do it in about 30 seconds. Just don’t stress!

Lmao 3rd day in and I could do it in 5 minutes, and 1st day took me only 10 minutes… my optometry instructor showed me special way to put lenses in(very very different from this video tutorial) and it’s very easy….it all depends on optometry instructors, there are those who don’t care about you, and there are who really care and boost your confidence…I know this cause 2 years ago went like 5 times in 2 months to optometry and couldn’t do it, this time my 1st visit in 2 years, and put them in/out in 10 minutes…

For those new to contacts, over a few weeks, those reflexes to shut your eye will gradually go away. I started out putting them more off to the side of my iris so I don't see a finger coming toward my eye. Then once stuck on the eye, slowly nudging it toward the center, using slow blinks if needed. (Fast blinks can pop it out if it's not already in the center of the eye) You will get it, hang in there. Good luck!!

quick tip for contact removal: for me i absolutely hated dragging them down and off my eye, its nearly impossible for me not to blink no matter what. i found it much easier to do it my own way which is.. look towards your nose (not down at it but in that direction in the center of your face) open your eyelid with your fingers as usual and slowly take your other hand and move the lense off your cornea onto the white partt of your eye (out in the direction of your ears) before carefully pinching it and taking it out. because of the structure of our eyelids youll find you have much more space to work with if you do it horizontally instead of vertically. hopefully this alternate solution helps somebody

I’ve been wearing them for ten years now, I remember crying after trying to get them out for over a half hour from frustration. But now I can put both eyes in and take both eyes out at the same time even if i really wanted to.
Getting them in: have lens on index finger tip, use middle finger to open eye, and insert the lens.
Taking them out: using thumb and index pinch the bottom of the lens to make a “V” and it breaks the seal, and pull down gently then remove.
Also - Having nail extensions makes taking them out a LOT harder, but insertion is the same.

When I take out my contacts, I just hold my finger against the lense and slowly slide it off of iris and down towards the corner of my eye. Usually once it gets to the corner it folds up a little and is easier to pull out, but even if it doesn't fold, I find it's easier to grab it from the corner instead of just picking it off my eye.

Some tips I picked up the past decade that I've been wearing contacts daily:
1)Use a small face mirror so that you're looking down when inserting the lense (helps more than you'd think)
2)try focusing on the mirror instead of the lense when inserting
3)when inserting them, move them slightly side to side and in a circular motion (the eye tears slightly and helps with comforting fit straight away)
4)when removing them, look to the side (the eye you're removing from must be looking at the ridge of your nose) then move the lense to the white of your eye before removing with the pinch technique (wet fingers make it harder to remove)
5)When the lense feels dry, take some solution and drip a few drops on your finger (so that your finger is wet) and dab the lense with it and slightly move the lense around (helped with the late night studying)
6)If you fell asleep or took a nap with the lenses and they stick (like you can't move them around on your eye) don't panick, wet your finger with the solution and dab the lense, gently start moving it (your eye will probably move with it, but it will eventually move and you can remove it. (Please don't sleep with your contacts).
7)Clean the lenses at least once a week (if it's monthly lenses)
8)Always wash your hands before touching your lenses (if you can't, at least try keep it to an absolute minimum)
9)don't wear them too long, you'll develop veins on your eyes.

    • @rubyytasmr
      @rubyytasmr 2 года назад +7

@@t.k.morris hey there so I've been using them from like 2 months and here's how I clean them:
I take one lens one my palm and add the lens solution like 4 to 5 drops and gently rub the lens on both sides using my finger tips.
Before doing this make sure to wash your contact case with water and air dry it. Don't use any fabric or tissue or even that makes it dirty. I do this cleanup like twice a week and it works for me.

This video is so informative, thank you doctor! I have been wearing lenses for 1 year now and I can assure everyone who’s struggling: it will become easier as you get used to it, do not worry!!! At first, the thing I had more difficulty with was to remove them since I didn’t know this tip which you have to slide the lenses down towards your sclera to then pinch it, I used to try to pinch it while on my cornea, which’d make me freak out since we aren’t used to touching our cornea when we first use lenses. Then I found out this tip and it was a piece of cake, really. What still happens to me, though, is sometimes, when wearing them for the first seconds, they don’t adjust quickly so my vision gets a bit blurry for a few seconds till the lenses can adjust themselves to my cornea. Other than that, it’s been really good to wear lenses.

I actually bought one of those applicators and it was a game changer for me... because not only do I feel like it's more hygienic, I also can apply the lenses waaay faster and easier, as opposed to using my fingers, because they get very adherent to the lens after washing my hands and the application became a nightmare (yes, I did dry them thoroughly, they're just porous). Also, I find it easier to just keep my eye open wide with 2 fingers from 1 hand instead of the method you showed, which triggers a pain in my shoulder somehow and makes my hand tremble ( old injury).. and you don't want trembling hands when applying contacts.

If it’s too difficult to swirl them on the eye, just make sure it’s flat wherever it is on the eye and then slowly close your eyelid over the contact. Look around in all directions with your eyes closed. Then open your eyes and blink profusely. If you tear up and start crying, don’t worry about it! It’s totally natural! Don’t rub the tears or rub your eyes or you might dislodge the contact or hurt yourself. Just keep blinking. It may take a few minutes to get used to it, but it will position itself if you look around and keep blinking :)

I started wearing contact lens since I was 19, over 2 decades have past and no problems so far...
I'm thankful to my opthalmologist who taught me the right technique...in the very first try it was so easy n quick...
    These are the steps:
    1.Wash your hands with soap
2.Just relax and sit down on a chair
    3. Place a light yellow napkin on ur lap or on the table
4.Check the curvature of ur lens..it should be convex
5.Then place the lens on the index finger (of ur dominant hand) and tilt your head down and then just look straight at the contact lens and bring it near your eye, just look straight at the lens so that the cornea is aligned with the curvature of your contact lens.. don't blink ur eye and don't look away from the lens...as u take it closer to ur eye the lens naturally sticks to your cornea and then just look in the mirror to fix the lens position perfectly with a gentle push (I prefer a round hand mirror and hold it in my left hand)...once u become pro u don't even need a mirror...
I use the right hand index finger again to put the other lens in my left eye and it sticks easily as well...
    Note:
In case if the lens fall off from ur hand it will land on the napkin..since the light yellow colour of the napkin doesn't block the visibility of lens it's easier to find it...
Avoid wearing lens while u r in standing position..especially at the wash basin mirror area (it can fell off in the sink/basin and will get contaminated and also there are high chances of losing it)...
