You just made my life easier, I was taught to remove soft contacts by pinching them. I have so much trouble getting them out this way. After watching you video sliding them down and removing, changed my feeling about my contacts thank you keep making these videos please! I don't know why they taught me to pinch them but my first soft contacts were back in the mid 90s and I hated getting them out ever since! This week I finally got a new lenses that I have finally been and I can wear the for 9 hours, before I always had to have a full kit on me to remove them after 6. I did research and asked my optometrist for the brand I wanted to try, it is game changing.

The suction cup thingy is for hard lens correct but you can remove soft lens by pinching it at the base, dont suck or slide it around your eyeball. Instead of your fingers or fingernail the cup touches your lens (pinch it out like you would with fingers with the cup between your finger and lens). For me it helps that I wont accidentally hurt my eye with manicure nails (my fingers and nails only touch the cup). :)

I have worn HARD contact lens for 60 years (yes, not a typo) and I never used tools to insert or remove them. I stand upright looking into a mirror, put the hard lens on my bottom lid and then raise the bottom lid to place the hard lens directly onto the pupil. Works well. To remove the RGP lens, I simply tug on my eyelid and they pop out. May take a couple of tries. My Optometrist just gave me a soft lens (not toric) to try and I struggled getting them in and out. Thanks for this video. Now I think I know how to manage the soft lens.

The best method I've found and safest to remove is.
Dragging the eye down with one hand.
Chin right in to give a double chin so its touching neck.
Look up into the mirror which exposes the white of the eye at the bottom.
You will see the lens sits about a mm around the colour part of eye.
You will be aiming for where the colour part meets the white.
Using your other hand shape it like this 👉 so you are pointing index at your nose.
Place index finger on that mm of lens at bottom of colour part where it meets the white and drag.
As you drag down don't just drag down straight it will just remain on the eye or go in bottom lid.
Drag it like a 'J' shape following the shape of your nose.
You need to keep slight pressure all the way down and it will flick the lens over the bottom lid when you complete the bottom of the J shape.
Usually takes 1 to 3 drags but don't forget if you blink the lens moves back to the colour part.
You must also keep eye still and focused to make sure your catching that mm at the bottom centre and watch it in the mirror.
If you look side ways or up eg. not looking up into the mirror, you are just dragging the white part with no lens.
Safe, no pinching, good for false nails too. Very easy 👌
The position would be 2.55 but with chin down, look up into mirror and his R hand (one with stick) like 👈
Let me know if it helped anyone below.

I'm very new to contact lenses. The second day was 10 times faster than the first day. For removing the lens I found it easier to make sure to roll the finger and thumb together when pinching. I see it in example videos, but you have to stay disciplined and not blink, or squint, etc.

This was great! But maybe it is worth trying the hard contact remover but slide the lens over first? i.e. Stick it on like you did at the 11:44 mark but instead of pulling straight out, move the lens sideways so it off the cornea and then pull? I have rough finger tips and did not realize I had a splinter in my index finger while trying to remove a lens. Ouch.

The "suck cup" on the first one

2:34 From what I've seen on the advertisements and online tutorials, that's not the applicator, that's the end you use to remove the lens from your eye. The other end which you were using to remove the lens is the actual applicator. You got the ends mixed up.
I have eczema and need to keep my hands moisturised. I'm considering a tool like this.
    From what I've seen
Sometimes cutting nails are not exactly the convenient or ideal solution. Some people have acrylic nails which cost a lot of money to get (e.g. $150AUD fancy acrylics) and which they often intend to wear for mor than a week or two, so they wouldn't exactly want to cut off their nails to just to put contact lens on, removing acrylics take time as you sometimes have to first file them down (not just the free edge, but also the area that's on the real nail), to get them thin enough to be clipped off in the first place. Other than that, I also see those tools are a great alternative if you have also torn off your nail and you have to keep the injured nail bed away from other liquids.

Yeah that first one isn't working because you're using it all wrong.
You put the lens on the handle end, that's why it fell off.
You INSERT the lens by picking it up with the tweezers, place it in the suction cup at the OTHER end, and then insert.
You then use the tweezers to extract.

😂 i might try the second tool. I learned the corner trick when i was an optician but because of how my left eye is shaped and they have me in an ultra soft lens because of it it doesnt wanna release the surface tension cause it just molds to it

Some times I can’t get my soft lenses to stick to my eyes, it can take 5 minutes or more sometimes why does this happen

I usually use that stick. Very easy, truly.
You deliberately complicated. It shouldn't "suck". Just use it as thin analog finger.

So is there a soft contact remover you would recommend? I've tried using contact lenses but removing them was the hardest part as I have dry eyes from taking daily allergy meds.

I’m a new contact patient starting in my mid 40’s. I’m having a hard time putting them in and really a hard taking them out. I have only successfully got them out with the push out technique (by looking down towards the nose and pushing downward with my top eye lid. Like I’m trying to rub them out I can’t do the tweezer pinch or slide the contact to the side and the pinch it, out) It has taken me an hour or more to just put one contact in. I know it takes patience. I also get this burning sensation on the bottom eye lid when I’m putting them in. I do have somewhat of slanted eyes as I’m Pacific Islander decent. What do you think I should try. I can’t pull my upper eye lid up as I get scared and my eye lid goes crazy and I want to blink. I have noticed that I have to start with my face looking downward as I look up with my eye to get them in. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi, you might have gotten the hang of it now, but here are some tips: When inserting the lens, I would suggest using both hands. Using the right hand you will pull down the lower eyelid and place the lens. With the left hand you will have to place your arm on top of your head, reach down and pull up your top eyelid. If you need to blink while pulling your top eyelid you are probably touching your eye, try holding it open by your lashes instead. As for removal: sliding the lenses down and pinching should be the easiest way of removing them, but if you really aren't able to you can use some eye solution to flush them out. Hope this helps!

@@kristianl7117 thanks for the reply. I have concord the technique with.left hand pulling the eyelash’s up as I pull down the eyelid with the right hand as that’s my dominant side. I really have to relax and try to let the anxiety pass before I apply. If I don’t my upper eyelid wants to blink like crazy. Down so far. I’m getting the pinch technique down little at a time but it’s working.

@@DJMEDIC671 No problem. It takes time and practice, but you'll get the hang of it eventually. I have worn contacts for over a decade now and can easily touch my eyes without blinking, but it definitely used to be a struggle. Good luck!

it's really scary, I don't have the strength to put them back yet 😫

Can you try this with the bottom of the plunger cut off to allow air through and reduce the suction. Maybe with a scleral lens applicator cuz they have a hole going through the center

I’ve seen some people use a sliding technique, where they just slide it down from the centre until it folds over on itself, but whenever I try this the lens just continues going further down and doesn’t slip out or fold over🥲. Heres where I’ve seen it being used:
