It's nice to see these Dogs but why on Earth are they not in an environment that is being Cooled, Shaded is at least something but If that dog pants any faster it would be Hyper-Ventilating. You and guests should be doing these interviews with a Fur Coat on just like these dogs.....
Unfortunately these are dangerous animals, i was going to have one after doing alot of research but on meating the breeder one of her dogs bit a family member totally unprovoked and it was infact her stud dog that she uses for her current litters. Took 4 weeks to heal going back and forth to the gp. I do not recommend and be weary of the breeders lines. Get a pedigree dog is all i can suggest there are plenty of dogs out there with sound temperaments. Personally the timbers are a ticking time bomb in my opinion and I'm very concerned at what's being bred and the temperaments of the puppies when the parent animal being used isn't sound. You didn't meet said dog in the video but he was pictured. My family has since banned me owning one of these dogs since the incident, we're very experienced doggy people that have had large breed dogs for many years and are ex breeders of rottweilers and showing them. So it's not like we're inexperienced. They're beautiful dogs and I love wolves but they're potentially very dangerous with the mixed breeds that gone into them
I'm still so gutted that I had to miss this show, I do love Drogo cuddles. I'm on my 3rd dog from Maggie, the most recent one being a LC Wolfdog. All beautiful, all well bred, & all with fantastic temperaments. It's nice to see breeders who put such effort into making sure their litters are not only healthy in all ways, but who actually keep up with the dogs & offer any support needed when in their new homes, getting the recognition they deserve for the dogs they work so hard for.
Thanks for this. We had a wonderful wolfdog back in the early 2000s named Freyda and she was about 50% timberwolf and a mix of husky and malamute for the other 50%. She was almost 100lbs when she was full grown and looked almost completely like a wild wolf with the thick coat and long kegs. I was present when she was born and she bonded with me until she was weaned and then she and I were inseparable. Both my sons were born when she was young and she treated my newborn sons as if they were her own cubs and would stay within a few feet of the baby and my wife at all times. She loved our friends and extended family once she knew them but strangers were able to get her defensive until she was introduced to them. She was the most loving and amazing member of our family and we all miss her terribly since she passed at 12 yrs old.
They are so gorgeous. I was at an agricultural show last weekend. There was also a dog show going on too. I made a beeline for a huge wolf-like looking dog. I asked the girl what breed of dog he was as I petted him and she said he was 40% wolf content. I was surprised he was so friendly and laid back. He wasn't grey, more of a dark brown shaded colour. She said he was an escape artist, but was a lovely pet in the house. His back was at my hip height!
It's essential that a firm hand can make a whole lot of difference people tend to forget that they are not like regular dogs and need a good firm leader if not they will be destructive restless and a danger to other pets and people that's why they aren't for first time owners the best owners are the ones who have had experience with wolfdogs I heard sad stories about that'll make your heart break just because they weren't trained properly they are very special dogs and will need a very special owner
Beautiful doggo. All dog's are gorgeous, they all have their own traits. That's what makes them so endearing. My personal favorite was "Max" the Caucasian ovcharka from Manchester. He was immense, massive but with a soppy lovable face. Unfortunately some breeds are demonized which is unfair, it's how they're raised and treated by their owners. Humans are the problem in this regard.Your channel is one of the most intuitive out there. Over the years you've shown your devotion to the animal kingdom and that's really sweet. Your devotion is absolute.
I have one of these dogs! He is so loyal, he never leaves my side. He is a completely ‘off-the-lead’ dog, but I did quit my job to train him full time when I first rescued him at 10 months old. The credit must go to him for his training though, he was very easy to train. I suspected he would be from the moment I saw him, he was very calm and calculated for young dog.
My beautiful lady. The owner of the big heart and tender feelings. Three years ago, I was writing a research paper on the use of dogs in war, especially in snowy mountainous areas. On RUclips, I stumbled upon an episode of yours that talked about Huskies. And another episode about Caucasian dogs. After that, I started following all your episodes on your program with passion, love and admiration. Then my fellow officers started following the episodes of your program. We were sitting in amazement and astonishment at your great and wonderful courage as you talked to the Norwegian wolves. And how they love you intensely and are very jealous of you. You are, with complete honesty and absolute frankness, a wonderful and very great person in your noble goals. I wish you success, goodness and everlasting happiness. My regards.
Had a full blood wolf. She was neither vicious or totally destructive. We have had dogs that were worse by far. Beautiful creatures. Love to have another someday.
A guy I met in Siberia has "pet" wolves. He lives right at the @ss end of the middle of nowhere. He has built them what he calls a "dog village" with water warmed to +6C in winter in what looks like the old ceramic water troughs. There are also large dog kennels that that can sleep in or on. There are some fences but only on two sides. Other than that they come and go as they please and he feeds them occasionally. I got talking to him in Irkutsk.
what a great option. thankyou for sharing this breed with us. there are so many good breeds depending on your needs but if you want a wolf or close as possible this is defiantly a contender.
My best friend is a German shepherd. He’s big and handsome and a perfect companion for me. I love all dogs and wolves and my favorite charity is a wolf sanctuary in Colorado.
You might be better off with a German Shepherd with an agouti colouring. Much smaller and easier to handle for a novice owner with a biddable personality. Though if you’ve experience with a working/herding dog, the Timber Dog could be the perfect match for the right person. Gorgeous dog with the wild look people love but with a domestic dog temperament. This is the ideal wolf dog for such people. A new breed with serious potential for the future. 😊
I'd love seeing a video about akbash dogs. I know you did a video on their cousins but I feel like they are a super old and unique breed people should learn more of.
The bark is certainly less intense than their bite potentially is! 😂 But when she said they’re between four and seventeen percent wolf genetics, that seems fairly "ideal" for a hybridized animal. Certainly easier to work with than a high content.
Well, if legality was not a problem, huskies also come with the same problems. Leave them alone inside for a few hours, and they totally wreck your house. They also don't seem to understand and obey commands. And take your eyes off them for a second during a walk, and they think of other pets as prey, and your neighbor's little dog is as good as dead. But they are very affectionate and loveable. Very good around strangers and I totally love them.
Also if you want another proof why huskies are wolves: They never bark before attacking. They just creep up to their target silently, and attack quick and deadly. Just like a real predator. Not like the dogs who just keep barking and barking, even if they are afraid to attack.
2018 I used to walk my buddy’s husky and would run into this old man with his Wolf-dog that was a Timberwolf mix! That dog was huuuge at only 4-6 months! Towering the husky but it was more than 4-17% ain’t no way!
I lov my animals..I had a timber wofey husky before..And she was always trying to escape. But I had a 6 foot hag but she always tryed to dig out of the garden..So I don't think it is right mixing breeds..Just let the wolf live free.🐾🐾❤
Fascinating video Anneka. Your wolfdog videos and videos of other wolf lookalikes are informative and educational. I think they are very useful in helping anybody thinking of getting a wolfdog or a similar breed. I noticed couple of your videos featured wolfdogs in Italy and was wondering if any of them are Lupo Italianos. I don't know if you have heard of this breed, but it was developed in mid-60s by crossing an Italian (Apennine) wolf with a German Shepherd. The breed's foundation stock was a wolfdog named "Zorro", and was then mated with German Shepherds and their resulting female offsprings. Thought maybe you'd be interested in checking it out for your channel.
Also, maybe it would be wise to not refer to them as a breed, unless they are actually recognized by relevant kennel organization. Breeds have an estabilished standard (no way these have that), which potential buyer can rely on, so it won't end up in shelter if puppy acts differently then advertised.
