LYRICS
Us and Them
And after all we're only ordinary men
Me, and you
God only knows it's not what we would choose to do
Forward he cried from the rear
and the front rank died
And the General sat, as the lines on the map
moved from side to side
Black and Blue
And who knows which is which and who is who
Up and Down
And in the end it's only round and round and round
Haven't you heard it's a battle of words
the poster bearer cried
Listen son, said the man with the gun
There's room for you inside
"Well I mean, they're gonna kill ya, so like, if you give 'em a quick sh...short, sharp shock, they don't do it again.
Dig it? I mean he got off light, 'cause I coulda given 'I'm a thrashin' but I only hit him once.
It's only the difference between right and wrong innit? I mean good manners don't cost nothing do they, eh?"
Down and Out
It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about
With, without
And who'll deny that's what the fightings all about
Get out of the way, it's a busy day
And I've got things on my mind
For want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died
This song doesnt make me feel happy, sad, remorse, anger, guilt, melancholy or nostalgia. It just puts me in a place of peace, no emotions attached. This is the only song that can do that for me.
@Caper Cream ......with ah couple thousand friends of like mind, just chilln' 😎
@Caper Cream - a pleasure for y_ears I use to hangout in a field next to an airport runway listing as I gazed into the sky.
@@hawkeye1836 sounds awesome! 👌
The next time you listen, hear the words. This is one of the greatest antiwar songs ever written. It's about anything but peace. Governments put guns in young people's hands and send them halfway around the world believing they're coming home the same way they left. Have a lovely day.
I couldn't say it any better than your words. I thank you.
Anyone still loving this gem in 2024? Let me here you🎉🎉🎉

Forever.
Pink Floyd is objectively the best band of all time.
eSco it depends on your tast of music but they ar fucking good
Pink Floyd is subjectively the best band ever for me.
Agree!
It isnt subjective. Its fact. I dont give a fuck what genre you like, go fuck yourself. I loved pure dubstep for YEARS, then the second I found pink floyd, they changed my music tastes forever.
Sorry +SPIDER MANN but you're wrong on this one. You can have that opinion, but based on album sales, popularity, etc, its a fact that Pink FLoyd is better than shitty ass coldplay.
This song puts me in a place I wish never to leave.
Michael McGuire crying two days song miss brother
like places i've only been in my dreams and wish i never woken up from
This song was made in heaven
This song is about as ironic as can be. It's an anti war protest song. It's about how the rich pit people against each other for their own gain. It's about places we never want to go but if we follow them it's inevitable that it's going to be us fighting the wars.
For me, this is the best Pink Floyd song EVER
Which would make it the best song ever
That and coming to life
Every song is best
Agreed
The song that got me into Pink Floyd..
the fact that they can reproduce the same sound live as in studio version is amazing
Floyd were the masters at this..most times even BETTER than the studio could produce
Paul Oppewal I find myself listening to this version more than the album version
one of the talented few
Pink Floyd is one of very few bands that does MARKEDLY better music live.
Jalil Ali better than album.
honestly one of the most beautiful and perfect songs ever written.
It is the most perfect song ever written

Absolutely true
I miss Rick Wright, this has some of the best piano playing in rock history. Echoes, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, The Great Gig in the Sky, Any Colour You Like, and Us and Them all done by the majesty of Richard Wright. I'd say Rick Wright and Keith Emerson are the greatest keyboardists. RIP Rick and Keith.
i miss him too...soooo underated
greg rolie
Yup Rick was up there!
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE
John Paul jones? No Quarter is astounding
I've concluded that Pink Floyd fans hear differently than other fans. That's why we can listen to Pink Floyd and never grow tired or bored of their music.
Those sax solos are sublime!

+pieter spaans sorry fist time an answer
Always for ever,.the saxsolos
something about wright on the keys.. and mr parry on the sax....soooo good
I'm sure that the sax was an idea from Rick Wright.
I prefer scott page personly he's on a different level
Such a iconic Record Album!
It’s really hard to believe that the Dark Side of the Moon 🌚 album is 50 years now.
My dad always says that Pink Floyd is the best band in the world,in the history of music, and I think he´s been always right!
2nd best for me, Beatles first!
Your father is correct.
Your dad is absolutely right
Your father is absolutely right.
Pink Floyda and Dire Straits
Nothing will beat these bands.
The rolling Stones are still together, sooooo
"And after all we're only ordinary men" 💞
The best line in rock history
This music does something to me I can‘t explain... I grew up with Pink Floyd and still listen to their music everyday. A life without it? Unimaginable

From the greatest album ever produced...
maybe greatest rock album. there are other types of music out there you know Mr. Albert
I think referring to this masterpiece as a "symphony with meaning" is more appropriate
Thank you Allen Parsons for envisioning the very essence of what Pink Floyd had in mind for all those who really live, love, and think about what beauty life really is.
The choices are not always made for us,we determine our own destiny and this is a mere guide!
But this is not from Sgt. Peppers
I totally agree.

Seen Floyd twice in the seventies. Once in Chicago and once in Milwaukee. Tripping at both shows of course. 4- way windowpane and strawberry mescaline. Great memories.
I envy you ...
+Bob Kerbs Mescaline was always a little harsh to me, I always preferred shrooms over anything else.
+Bob Kerbs, I saw them in Chicago on Sunshine acid in 1979; the guy next to me pulled a bag of joints out, each one roll a different color paper!
Saw them at Rice stadium in the 90's. What a show for the mind, ears, eyes and the nose. You could smell the weed.
This is what happens when you have the love of music and you bring them all together . Magical
It is such a pity that Roger didn't get to solve his problems with the rest of the band, imagine having a full 3 hour concert with the 4 of them together and not only those 25 minutes in Live 8.
Roger solving his problems with the band was not the issue. After Live 8 Roger Waters was up for a proper reunion. It was Dave Gilmour that stood in the way of it happening. Both Roger and Nick were up for it. He said as much in an interview.
True story. In the book, it said that Dave was busy recording his solo album and didn't want to tour Pink Floyd during that time.
At the time Gilmour has 3 small children at hime, even today his youngest child is around 13. He regretted missing out watching his eldest children grow up (now in their 30's). So he put his family over his career, a Pink Floyd tour is a huge commitment....then there is the passing of Rick. Regardless of what people think about Gilmour and Waters, you can't have a proper Floyd tour without Richard Wright.
Agreed. Pink Floyd, as a group, died when Rick Wright passed on ;'( Yet, their music is timeless.
Well said, totally agree
One of the greatest songs ever made. Thanks Pink Floyd for decades of great music. I am just a young boy that completely missed your generation but thanks to technology got the opportunity to know and love your music
Don't worry. Pink Floyd shall be heard and understood for centuries to come. It's about the music, not the band.
i sometimes i wish i was born in the 50's in uk or usa so that i would be a teen by the time i would discover to these guys and experience a magical and cultural shift in music that none of us could ever experience nowadays...
Lucky me - I was.
I was lucky enough to be born in the 70's and see most of these bands final tours. You are right, would have been nice to see them in their prime.
lucky you!! i am a 90's kid...
TilzMD I am a 50's child & was blessed to see Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon live at Tampa Stadium in 1973! Best concert EVER! 2 friends & myself paid $6ea for day-of-show tix. Advance tix were $5! Alas, now I am old but the memory lives forever!
I was there .....too.
I’m no crowd expert but that crowd should be going effin nuts witnessing this gorgeous thing.
The beggining of this song really gets to me in a way that no other song does amazingly nostalgic
i agree
Back when songs were 5-7 minutes because the band was that good. This song is everything.

So......beautiful....seriously; today, are there any bands that can produce magic like this? certainly no- this is heaven
Only 2 others, and both are Floyd.
I was 16 in ‘76 when I was introduced to “US and Them!” Magnificent! Still my favorite band!
I'm not really a Pink Floyd fan per se, but this song is one of the best, most magical songs I have ever heard. And a mind blowing great live performance here.

I was born October ’74 and remember falling asleep in front of the speaker while my mom played Dark Side of the Moon on record.
A timeless masterpiece.
Pink Floyd without Richard Wright would have be NOTHING !!!
One of my favourites! DIEGO your next hint: I love to travel, so imagine how happy I was, that I would always have somewhere to go to in Summer, that I could also call a home 🏖🏡
I always get so sad when I see Richard Wright, what a talented musician. We’ve been robbed!
oh jesus, so true
I am insanely addicted to Pink Floyd. I can't never get enough from this music.
"out of the way, it's a busy day, I've got things on my mind" gives me chills
Daydreaming and wishing I could time travel to see my favorite band in concert; what a joy it would have been to belong to that era ❤.❤
Sentire i Pink Floyd. ..ti trasporta in un altra dimensione!
E poi dicono che non esiste la smaterializzazione. Questi ragazzi ci fanno viaggiare negli spazi intergalattici. Pink Inarrivabili.
This song is nothing short of stunning, amazing piece of music
The Pink Floyd they are the very best band of Rock blues of the all times.
To me, this the greatest songs ever written. Favorite song from my favorite album of all time. And I've spent a lot of money on music. Love the Beatles, love the Stones, best band ever Steely Dan, but this album is far and away the greatest piece of music I've had the pleasure of listening to.
So you grab a piece of something that you think is gonna last 😎
Awesome! Sax the best! Then the keyboard and drums...Their music so cool!
Dick Perry is the best ...
you forgot guitar gilmour is the best guitarist ever
You´re right Linl Ds. Dick Parry is one of the best saxophonist of all times. The introduction with his sax gives the song a special taste. The gentile of Richard Wright touching the keyboard made a special feeling to the song. They say Nick Mason shows a nice sobriety on the drums, and, what can we say from the elictric guitar of Dave Gilmour and his voice in this spectacular master piece? That´s why I think this is a "perfect song". Cheers!!!
Rick Wright's hammond organ's introduction is very cool.
Great musicians...ALL..great lyrics and version. Thank you
10 years without Richard Wright -september 15 2018
Obrigado essa banda chamada Pink Floyd pelas músicas lindas!Se eu fosse um Astronauta ouviria no espaço na estação espacial. Obrigado por tudo. Us And Them "
E' poco dire... meraviglioso brano. Un grande gruppo uno dei migliori di tutti i tempi, originali, sofisticati e molto bravi, mancano ad oggi dei talenti come i Pink Floid... stupendi... vi adoro!!!!
That sax solo gave me chills. So much feeling in it. Like a dying soldier screaming his pain away.
Saw Gilmour last night at Hollywood Bowl. Unforgettable, amazing, brilliant.
+Joseph Balint Excellent concert. So glad I got to see it. I've seen Pink Floyd in 87 in LA, Roger Waters doing the Wall at the LA Coliseum and now Gilmour at the Hollywood Bowl. All great concerts!
+Joseph Balint Planning to attend a Gilmour's concert on his Europe tour this year. Did he perform many Pink Floyd's songs? If so, which ones? Thank you!
+yoav Cohen he did a bunch of Pink Floyd. Songs from wish you were here, darkside, the wall... His solo stuff was really good. Rattle that lock is still stuck in my head. Yellow dress, any tongue. Loved fat old sun. The show blew me away.
Everyone that went to the show before me said that i was gonna love it and i wasnt disappointed.
Yoav, your gonna love it!
Joseph Balint Have never doubted I will enjoy. God damn it, I'm gonna break down in the show from excitement.
Thank you.
+yoav Cohen haha, i started cry when he played "wish you were here" :-)

Breathtaking performance, I sit and listen to this and all the songs they have and can't help but think we who grew up with Pink Floyd are the luckiest people in the universe. I feel sorry for the ones that missed out.
Trent Wilkshire I am 36 and I adore them. Best music ever. Would give anything to have grown up with them. My parents weren’t into them when I was growing up but I thankfully found them on my own.
You're so right.
Nunca voy a superar no haber nacido para poder llegar a ver este concierto. Que banda tan maravillosa.
Richard you were the quiet one ... but oh,your influence
This is a life changing experience when high
Absolutely!!!!!!
Dont have too be high..I love them always xx
The most unbelievable experience I ever had listening to Pink Floyd was lying on my back in the cockpit of a 55 ft Beneteau anchored at Tobago Cays, staring up at the most incredible canopy of stars I have ever seen.
Why do u need drugs to enjoy good music? do u have a problem or something?
yaric mifedov No, one doesn't have to be high to enjoy ANY music.... but it sure helps!!
What a moment it must have been seeing this masterpiece live after so many years, lucky people in that audience. This band really did change the history of music and artistry, which is why I wanted to pay tribute to them by playing all the tracks from Dark Side of the Moon on a 5 minute loop session, link in replies below if anyone wants to watch it!

For lack of a better word the piano sounds absolutely beautiful.
Pink Floyd and Journey w/StevePerry are my favorite music, plus Steve’s new music.
It sucks... if I was born earlier and could go to their concerts... wish they would all play again
This song brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it live at Earls Court on the 18th May 1973; and it still does every time I hear it. I play it often, play the whole album often. But always play Us and Them every 11th November.

One of my favorites by Pink Floyd !! David Gilmour is awesome !! \m/
All us Gilmours are.
This one was composed by Rick Wright. Has nothing to do with Gilmour.
Just wish I'd been lucky enough to see Roger,David,Richard and Nick together! :)
Oh Richard.. I really love his keys and what can you say about the guy. He ll be missed.

A Beautiful nostalgic song , Pink Floyd music got me thru many long Winters while I attended college in central Michigan,

My favourite Floyd song. Timeless. Beautiful. Deep.
And after all where just ordinary men I think not this music is far from ordinary it's brilliant
Best song that Pink Floyd has ever wrote......Class Act.
Un clasico !! y un excelente saxo durante el tema !! musica de verdad !!
so good. where are the music ARTISTS like this today? Radiohead yes, but I want new ones!
Check out porcupine tree. They don't work together anymore but they are a relatively new band lol
This is possibly the best version of this great song, Floyd was magic in this show, Gilmour and Wright, just awesome brings a tear to my eye everytime.
"With...without, and who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about..." that sums it up right there!
This track And comfortably numb. The best tracks ever
I really want to see you guys live before Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan take me :). The words of this song are philosophical. We use the song at our guys funerals.
Why do you wonna go there? To murder people and then complain when these guys strike back? "War is when the young and STUPID are tricked into killing each other by the old and bitter" - Niko Bellic (GTA4).
I was lucky enough to see them one of those nights at Earl’s Court which now no longer exists playing all of the dark side of the moon sublime night
Beautiful song. I was introduced to Pink Floyd by some stoners back in the late 80s when I was in my teens. Now at 45 I still love Pink Floyd. Best band of ALL time.

10th March 1973, Pink Floyd released their eighth studio album The Dark Side of The Moon in the US. It remained in the US charts for 741 discontinuous weeks from 1973 to 1988, longer than any other album in history. After moving to the Billboard Top Pop Catalog Chart, the album notched up a further 759 weeks, and had reached a total of over 1,500 weeks on the combined charts by May 2006. With an estimated 45 million copies sold, it is Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album and one of the best-selling albums worldwide.
not that it matters much but i'm pretty sure it was 741 continuous weeks from 1973 to 1988
I was lucky enough to see them in 94 I can't even tell you the presence of mind when I listen to their songs I'll send them and other songs and I love other groups as the Beatles for some reason there is nothing that compares the Dave Gilmour Pink Floyd
