haha man that's cool. I'm actually more of a prog rocker but I should learn this stuff a little just to freak my buddies out going boing boing in all direction. When they go "Whhoaaa, what was that?" I look at them and refuse to understand what they mean and I can say something like "I dunno, maybe I slipped or something?" and then I do the same thing two weeks later until they go nuts hahaha! :D . On the other hand, this is probably not a party trick you learn over a lunch break. It takes time and effort to make it anywhere near smooth, like anything else I guess. Mr Donahue has it down to an art form. Totally sea sick! :D

all guitars can sound like this if you play as well as Jerry. Forget about antique Teles and early Strats. As long as the thing stays in tune after all the string strangling is what matters. Compression and Reverb are well important too. Boss seem to be the quietest...the CS-1 Comp/Sustain with the DD-3 Delay is a good start. Probably better ones around now but I've had mine for 30 years. Also be prepared to weep a little if you wanna play like Jerry..your fingers will burn..they'll harden up

it's probably a problem with the string nut. i would try taking a mechanical pencil and rubbing the slots with it. if that doesn't help, you might need to take the guitar to a repair tech for some filing on the string nut. The string nut can cause problems due to the angle the strings come out of the back of it on their way to the tuning pegs. that causes a lot of friction. I hope this helps you. Mike

@bitchslapper12 Of course, what I do is I take my pocket knife and use it to shave off the pencil lead INTO the nut slots. After I have done that I make sure the tuning gears are rather tight

Leave it to Guitar World to show how amateurish my guitar playing is. Yet another lesson I can't do.
