He goes where the freebies are at though , fact - call it surviving to be a guitarist , nope he's too good and too well known , check out all the sponsorships, demonstrations, he loves everything , he tried a small gibson he was saying man that's great I would love this as 1 example , he wants for free all the time.
Why not you say ? Because we all have to earn a living ,being paid for a promo video then underhand saying how much he loves it ......he loves every thing he's ever touched .
Cmon, he's a top player but still

Great lesson Johnny. The descending scale starting at G on the B string, sounds just brilliant. It has a bell-like quality to it. It's not as easy to play as a scale which doesn't include open strings but it's well worth persevering. The D scale logically follows starting at D on the G string.
    Thanks.

I own this lesson, among others by Johnny Hiland. Really a tremendous amount of knowledge packed into what he teaches. However, it would be really helpful if each segment had a video chapter that is JUST the lick. It's very hard to navigate through all of the talking (which is very informative). I wouldn't want to cut the talking out, but rather provide additional video clips that literally have no explanation and just provide the lick. Once slow, once fast. I doubt Truefire will read this comment but this specific feature would make me 10x more likely to buy more lessons on their platform.

at around 6:30 it falls apart: you said you're sliding with your 3rd finger on the A string, 5th fret and the first finger on the D string, 3rd fret, but that is where you end up, you don't say where you begin from, and i'm going over it many times to get where it begins.

Dumb question: Regarding the fretted notes(not the open ones) in the scale that starts at 1:50 …how important is it to individually “pick” those notes? Because I’m able to play that scale faster(still slow by John’s measure) using pull offs. For example, the first two notes of that scale can be done with one “pick” and a pull off.
This probably made no sense. Sorry. I’m just trying to determine if using pull offs takes away from the intended “country” aesthetic.
