Loop will start to gain scale, once it integrates 2 core things: 1)Toggle Lock or View Only through permissions, and 2)Global Workspaces (saves in sharepoints not user OneDrives) & Security Group Permissions. Both of these can enable using Loop for creating agile repositories for documents that should only be done once (company/team communications or temporarily guidelines), or documents that should be modifies only after a process audit/change (policies & procedures). I thinkg both of these featues would transform how we use Loop, and would make it scalable and manageable for organizations. And yes.. I know Sharepoint should be the one to solve voth of these things, but at the same time, if Sharepoint would work like Loop, then it would make Sharepoint easier to deploy and making learning curves leaner for quick adoption. So I'm thinking making loop land in the PON for improving Sharepoint in the future.
They are still associated to an account yeah. They still have some work to do around transferring ownership/fixing "ownerless" workspaces. But someone leaving doesn't mean things disappear, just that they become "ownerless". I recognize there's still a gap, but it's far from something getting lost with someone's OneDrive when their account goes away.
Excellent content, I find this type of new features video really helpful as it's hard to keep track of 365 updates a lot of the time. A lot of these will be really helpful.
The ability to create custom templates was long awaited and much appreciated! I have run into an issue where when I try to make a custom template, but more often than not it runs into an error and isn't able to save.
Never knew Bulb Digital is based in GR. My son just graduated from GVSU-same school I graduated from many years ago. So psyched to see tech growing in GR!
What I really miss is a Language ootion in Settings. Oh, not being able to add it to Teams tabs is also something I miss. And if they do so, they should not make the same mistake as they did in Planner, restricting the feature to Public channels and not allowing to add it to private channels.
Agree there could be some improvements made to the Teams integration, we're excited about the potential here if they're able to connect a couple of those dots.
Do you use MS Project for your projects, or does this become redundant? How do you monitor/plan resource/associate allocation/availability across multiple projects?
We don't use Project really, we do almost all of our projects with a combination of Loop/Planner. Sometimes we rely on Azure DevOps for more code-heavy projects, but can get pretty far with Loop and Planner. As far as resource planning goes, we actually talked about it quite a bit on our most recent Office Hours video, which we're working on uploading soon. The short answer is we rely on tools called Harvest and Forecast to manage team members cross-project. It's not as integrated as it "could" be, but we actually like the separation sometimes because it gets us in a different frame of thought.
It's like one of those tools in your toolbox that can kind of do a lot of things, but doesn't specialize in one particular thing, and you find yourself using it on a consistent basis and could never get rid of it.
Not sure about tasks in comments, but you can definitely use the Tasks block to go between content, but not necessarily "in line" with the text. I have a video about the Planner/Tasks integration here: ruclips.net/video/E3H_SFPWiA8/видео.html
Great content! I also have high hopes when it comes to Loop! One question: how do you use tasks in loop to have the best experience in to-do/new planner? I struggle with the info that comes through in planner. Creating an overall planner plan with buckets though has no good default filter view on a loop page. What is you best practice here?
The short answer is: We don't. The new Planner is a bit of a mess, so we usually are just using the web version of Planner, which pulls in Loop tasks just fine. I agree there could be some improvements with filtering on the Loop side! Stay tuned :)
@@BulbDigital thank you! Do you have any recommendations on Blog posts, videos or anything like that, that can help to get the best out of what’s currently possible?
Emma just put out a video about how we use Loop for Project Management purposes on our channel you might find useful: ruclips.net/video/dKfIk9y_yfc/видео.html We also have a bunch of blogs on our site - they usually mirror our videos, though can often go into more depth. www.bulb.digital/blog?tool=Loop I don't know that I have another place to steer you, much of our insight comes from working directly with the Loop team at MS and us learning along the way. There's always deeper we can go - if there's specifics you're looking for, just give us a shout!
@@BulbDigital Thanks a lot! I will have a look into it :) Perhaps it could be a topic for one of the next loop videos on your channel ;) Keep up the good work
Is it possible to create a date based rule based on 'today'? Basically if column 'due date' is 'greater than 'today' then send an email. It seems as though you can only set a specific date and not just 'today'.
As far as I know, the only "trigger" available right now is when someone actually takes an action on something i.e. changes the choice option. There is no way for the automation to run "every day check if a date is greater than today" etc. Unfortunately we can't get too fancy here until we get access to more columns from the table in Power Automate.
I'm not sure the best way to get personal tasks from Todo visible in Loop right now - maybe it will come in the future when the web version of the new Planner gets released?
I have a pretty 101 video here, you should check it out! If there's anything you want to know more about, let me know! ruclips.net/video/Xas8eW4aZMc/видео.html
Finding Loop just a poor imitation of Notion. Yes, it's early in its journey, but lack of some core fundamentals makes me scared that this will become another failed micorsoft experiment. 10:5010:50
MS has been known for getting things "just far enough" and then slowing way down. As someone who has been involved with helping shape/seeing the future features of Loop, my confidence level that they'll keep up the pace here is really high. It's definitely less agile since MS is so big, but they're definitely marching forward. As long as I feel that, I'll keep promoting it.
I appreciate the promotion. We have been pushed to use it at my company. I'm just finding it really hard. In particular the link to Planner has potential but Planner is so substandard (in comparison to other similar solutions) that it's really difficult.

Agree on the permissions side, would be nice to get a tiny bit more control. FYI the majority of Loop uses SharePoint for its storage already!
@@BulbDigital Except Workspaces? The actual loop files can be in SharePoint, but the Workspaces are still associated with a user's account?
They are still associated to an account yeah. They still have some work to do around transferring ownership/fixing "ownerless" workspaces. I wish we could export the loop as a pdf for printing. Can wait to see new features 🎉
We agree exporting as PDF would be great!

Thanks for the feedback Richard! It's definitely a bit of a firehose sometimes with all the updates.
Like the news quick hit …. It like cliff notes that gets to what Need to know quickly

Strange! We can pass that feedback along to the team.

Small quality of life upgrade would be, the cover and icon being shown when you share a component in an email or teams.
Not a bad idea!
Thank you for the update.
No problem! Happy to help.

Loving loop, but typical microsoft, there are lots of weird limitations and overlaps with other products.
It's like one of those tools in your toolbox that can kind of do a lot of things, but doesn't specialize in one particular thing, and you find yourself using it on a consistent basis and could never get rid of it.
So I was wondering if LOOP will ever have ad hoc tasks that you can drop one off tasks in line with other content or tasks in comments? Loving loop.

Great video, really enjoyed it.

I love that comment feature, but it doesn't seem to work within a Q/A component. Any idea why?
Not sure! I can check into it.
@@BulbDigital Well, thanks! :)
MS Loop still has a lot to improve if it wants to surpass OneNote or compare to Notion
What's one thing you'd call out for it to get closer?
❤
Are these available for consumers?
Yep! It's available for anyone with a personal Microsoft account
Is commenting available for users with view access?
Good question! I haven't tested that. We'll try to report back when we're able to.
Could you make a Video how you use Loop?

For comments... I don't seem to be getting notifications. Any idea how one would be notified of a new comment, outside of @ing that person?
As far as I know, @ing the person is the only way to make sure someone gets an actual notification. Would like to see some customization ability here.
