Honestly I was expecting just a basic top 10 of things to do, but the way you explained properly everything, gave the prices, how to access, and even the historical context and informations are really appreciated, good work !
Thank you so much you introduced Taiwan in your youtube channel, allowing people around the world to learn more about Taiwan. For the stinky tofu part, you made my day, I know many foreigners don’t like this flavor, but it truly represents the authentic street food in Taiwan. I love it so much! Thanks a lot again :)
I love what you said about embracing slow travel - it’s exactly how I approach my trips, especially in Japan. Taking my time lets me really soak in the city, leaving some spots unexplored for next time, which I don’t mind at all. It makes each visit more special! I’m heading to Taiwan at the end of this month, and this guide is incredibly helpful - beautifully put together, too!
Awesome! This is exactly the type of vlog I was looking for! My wife and I are visiting Taiwan for the first time next month, and we’ll definitely try out the things you did. Thumbs up!
Such a great vlog, informative and straight to the point, I love the chill vibes too, reminds me of my own personnality hehe. New sub here ;) and looking forward to my trip to Taiwan at the end of this year, yay!
Taiwan doesn't mess around with beef noodle soup. I used to eat it a lot as a kid and then it went away due to life but then its made a big return and we eat it from a regular basis now! Taiwan is a small country with a big bite. Everything you showed invokes a nostalgia! One thing you may have forgot is mango shaved ice! You can get this everywhere but in Taipei they make enough for 4 people for each serving.
Just you commenting on beef noodle soup transports me back to Lao Shandong! That was an unforgettable meal, their beef noodle soup (and Taiwan’s in general) had such exquisite depth and flavour 😭❤️ We had mango shaved ice in Kaohsiung! The serving was huge and we just came from having lunch, but we finished it all 😂
@ holy cow. You didn’t have to travel that far south for shaved ice but more power to you. We stayed at a temple down there. Super chill. I found some secret spots that serve sticky rice balls at night and tons of scallion pancakes. Taiwan is so delicious!
It would have to be trying out Lao Shandong homemade noodles - we did it on our first day here and it was SO delicious. It really set the mood for our trip! There was the soy milk breakfast too, because it was amazing having breakfast among locals in a small, cozy shop. Heck, everything that involved food was an instant highlight for me!
Thank you for the video, I find yours was very helpful. 1. Can you please be more specific how to catch a bus from Taipei to Jioufen? 2. I also find Lotus Pond is an interesting place. Would you recommend? If so, how to get there? Thank you
Hi! We took the 965 shuttle bus. More information here: amazingjiufen.tw/en/ Did you mean the Lotus Pond in Kaohsiung? We took a train from Taipei to Kaohsiung, then from our hotel, used Uber to get there :) Definitely recommend going there, it was awe-inspiring!
Hi! We stayed in RF Hotel Zhongxiao which is near the MRT and near (1.7km) Taipei 101. Good rooms for a budget hotel and accessible, so would reco. We also stayed in Apause inn near the main MRT station and near Ximending. We also had a big room for a budget hotel, though the sanitation was questionable (lots of dirt under the bed).
All this is superficial Westernized urban existence. The real Taiwan life and culture is in the mountainous interior, closed to tourists and where few Taiwanese people go.
Hi there! I understand that there are areas in Taiwan that hold deep cultural significance, but life and culture isn't exclusive to any single part of a country, don't you think? Cities like Taipei are an accessible gateway for visitors to experience Taiwan's culture, and they keep their traditions while blending it with modernity :)
You could say the same thing for literally any country but this is a more of a city focused. You do know if this isn’t the content you want you can look “rural Taiwan” right?

Thank you for your kind words, you made my day ❤️

I loved every minute of being there! And for the stinky tofu, the more I ate it, the more I liked it 😂

Sorry to hear that raohe sucked! We weren’t able to go to shilin unfortunately, but glad to hear that you had a great time there!
