Dr. Grande, To answer your question in the notes, yes! I would really enjoy your content in podcast form. I’m an artist and I enjoy listening to posts like yours while I work, and having them in longer podcast form would be great. Additionally, I would like to see you discuss pros and cons of different cognitive approaches and medications for different forms of mental illness that are common such as depression and anxiety - if possible (professionally, that may not be) Another great addition might be having guests on your podcasts. Thank you very much for your content!
I would also love a video on how to find a good psychologist! As in, when you have your first few sessions, how to know whether to stay or go. It's hard to find a good one, and I'm sick of wasting my money. Last psychologist told me my brother was "an awful person", and while he abused me, so I feel that way of course, I feel it's weird for a psychologist to say that considering he was literally a child, albeit older than me. Just think it doesn't help me at all lol. Would love to learn how to spot a good one.

I greatly appreciate you referring to polygraph tests as nonsense. That is exactly what they are, and I truly wish their use could be outlawed. Any person on the APD spectrum can pass one with flying colors even if they are guilty of the alleged crime, whereas anyone who suffers from anxiety or is of a hypersensitive nature can easily fail polygraph even if innocent. I would imagine that many innocent people would feel freaked out (I know, not a clinical term, lol) just by virtue of being questioned by police. Many absolutely upstanding citizens have an inherent (and well earned) fear of the police and can feel extremely anxious just walking into a precinct. The fact that police keep using polygraphs is a bullying tactic which, in my opinion, only delays the process of getting to the truth.
Indeed. I come across like someone who's guilty just when I know that people believe I'm guilty, although I'm not. Just that sense of pressure. I'd probably fail the polygraph test if they'd ask me whether I kidnapped the Lindbergh baby. And thinking of polygraph testing being used is just insane. It's like in Early Modern times they used to think that torture helps to find the truth.
Polygraphs should be defined as "just rattling their cage to see what shakes loose" when used by police with a vested interest towards incrimination rather than verifying information. The idea isn't to qualify any facts, it's just to apply pressure to weakness, create inconsistencies and doubts.
I used to work with Sherri, but she was one of our regional supervisors, so I only met her a few times. I don't know her nearly well enough to say what might have happened, but she was always very nice to us. A bubbly, bright, confident lady. So no matter what happened, I am glad she's OK and I wish her and her family all the best.
I'm also glad she's safe and back with her family. Her case is so puzzling and so much doesn't add up but ultimately it's her life, her story, and she doesn't owe us an explanation. I want one... but she doesn't owe us internet nerds anything.
I also feel this is most important. She might have made up a story, and run away on her own, but how many disappearances end with the person being found safe? She has some problems, but she's alive. She has people who love her and care about her. To me this is a fairly happy ending.
Well, you nailed it!!! Sherri Papini is in jail right now for concocting an expensive, but lazy, kidnap hoax. She is some piece of work. It's unimaginable what she put her family through😡. I look forward to your updated analysis of her.

I always thought she joined that Nvxivm cult where women join to be sex slaves, and they rejected her for not being compliant, leaving her on the side of the road. It is the only explanation that fits everyone's actions. Evidence shows she willingly went (folded up earbuds on phone), husband wasn't involved, police certain these "kidnappers" aren't patrolling the streets snatching more women. The cult was already in the hands of the feds (and don't kidnap women off the street), so the local police would have nothing to do with it. The only problem is that the cult brands their woman on their pubic bone, not the shoulder.... I suppose a lover gone wrong could be an option, but after beating her for a month, starving her, branding her, and providing her his DNA, the situation sounds implausible. People capable of such violence usually don't hesitate to tie up loose ends. Not to mention the police should be worried this freak would harm another woman and they aren't worried at all. The Nvxivm cult on the other hand, collects compromising material on their members, so that they will never tell a soul the truth about what they went through (like Scientology).

Yes. I remember quite a few years back I read an article by a journalist that had spent a day or more interviewing Manson and doing a 'day in the life of' type of thing. Manson had pointed a gun at his head and generally terrorized the guy, and his article sounded like a battered spouse. He sounded star struck, like 'I got to have a gun put to my head by Manson!' and 'I can't believe he would treat me like that' simultaneously.
Wow. How actually spot on this ended up being, and without the investigation info or interviews to go on. This guy needs to get into solving serial killer cases or something.

You know it's kinda sick to be talking about someone like this. There is literally no way you can be sure what happened, so try to consider that who you're talking about could very well be a victim, however unlikely that might seem to you. There have been other abductions where no one believes the victim and it turns out to be true, or they were hiding something but they were still abducted, sometimes abused. Just chill. Not everything needs to be said. If you're right then ok cool I guess? Congrats? If you're wrong you're being crude and cruel towards someone who really was a victim, and whose experience may very well be worsened by people like you, because what you say may affect how other people view the victim (sometimes people from the very town in which they live), and they or their family could come across it. I can't understand how an empathetic person would see that risk as worthwhile for a joke that isn't even funny.

Did you even know that a classmate of hers was also abducted on the same trail years earlier? Have you considered she could be lying and still have been abducted? The earphones, which many point to as showing she wasn't abducted, are not even conclusive evidence-- if there were 2+ kidnappers one could've just wrapped them up so there would be no "signs of struggle", or she could've wrapped them up and THEN been grabbed and simply dropped them. If she was using opiates (fentanyl, heroin, etc.) she would not have had much of an appetite. However, I don't know if she was tested for drugs at the hospital.....
the weight loss was a claim by her husband and never confirmed anywhere else by anyone else.... same with "the broken nose" and the severity of the bruises. It was all likely exaggerated like everything else claimed in this story. The Sheriff said her injuries were minor - like a sprained ankle. The lady that spotted her on the highway and called 911 clearly stated that she spotted Sherri's "long, blonde hair" - so how badly could it have been "all chopped off" as Keith claimed.

Of course, she could always state that they gave her drugs to keep her quiet and control her. I don't know what to make of this case. There have been quite a few cases where people disappear, then reappear, and GoFundMe is usually involved. However, due to the amount spent to investigate this, I doubt it's a dead case.
Plus: When my husband was a truck driver, the drivers had to take a class in sex trafficking, if they were stopped at a truck stop, and they saw women that looked downtrodden, they were told to quietly ask the woman if she was ok. If they said no, or gave them a look of distress, the drivers had a special number to call to report it. Police would show up and take over the situation. These women they are being used for sex trafficking are so beaten down and SCARED, they do what their captors tell them. They have no money, no family, no phone, no self-worth, they just go along with the program. We are all comfy and cozy, and we do not realize the things that are going on in the dark side of mankind.

I think the whole think the whole thing smells fishy. BUT, the extreme weight loss, all her injuries seem to be extreme to fall under the heading of self inflected. I don't think hubby's involved. His reactions seem to be genuine. But there's all her history of troubled behavior. Weird case.

I can relate to everyone who is careful in his/her judgement here.
The only thing that wouldn't add up in his version is the headphones phone and coat that were found immediately that kick started the investigation. So his theory is shot in regards to deciding later on she was going to pretend a kidnapping after having a bender of sex/affair
My friend, David, who has since passed away was kidnapoed when He was around six years old, his sister was around eight and and his baby brother, Nick was around ten months. It is shocking but also enlightening as to help me not find myself in a situation which may be perilous and look for warning signs in people's behavior. Thank you.
Thank you, Dr. Grande, for sharing your insight in this curious situation, though certainly not the first of it's kind. On Wikipedia, a Fake Kidnapping is defined as a kidnapping that has been staged by the victim. Wikipedia also gives a list of Notable incidents. Joanna Grenside, an aerobics teacher from England, staged her disappearance a few days before Christmas in 1992. She suffered from the eating disorder Bulimia, and wanted to avoid the overindulgence of food that went on at Christmas parties. Another example is Karol Sanchez a 16 year old girl who, in December 2019 had two young adult men pretend to abduct her in front of her mother. Her motive was apparently she did not want to move to Honduras with her mom. In the Papini case, I agree that the police are reluctant to dismiss her story as fake, on the chance that it is true. It's better to err on the side of caution. Take the story of Marie Adler, who was 18 when she was tied up, blind folded and raped by a masked knifeman who broke into her bedroom as she slept. The police branded her a liar and charged her for "making a false report". Years and many more rapes later, police arrest a suspect in an other rape and discover he took photos of each of his victims, including Marie. Oops...
I found his discussion interesting. He covered the important issues. I wonder if her husband was given a lot of information about the man she was communicating with and planned to meet in California. Maybe he followed up. To me, that's a big factor. With her history, I would be very suspicious of that fact. It was covered very well by Dr Grande.
So have the police not located the vehicle because after they got Sherri in the vehicle with the bag over her head, the vehicle went straight up with the wheels tucking under it? Was the basement she thought she was in really the belly of the ship? Were the alien lizard people gifted with shape shifting when in human form so they could change from female to male? It would explain everything. Enquiring minds-these such things are reported in the Enquirer-want to know.

Those arguing that Sheri couldn’t possibly have willingly left, harmed herself, lost that amount of weight, etc- Clearly, they’ve not heard of the case of Canadian nurse, Cindy James. Her case and death were covered on a rather popular Unsolved Mysteries segment, 30+ years ago. There were also books written about her case. Speaking of Cindy James, though it’s an older case from the 1980s, I would be delighted to hear your take on it. Her story and death have perplexed and disturbed me since I was a child watching Unsolved Mysteries with my Grandfather. Maybe you’ll look into it and consider covering it for a future video? Catherine Herrick Excellent point. When I used to attempt to have discussions with people who believed in a particular conspiracy theory-I gave up making finally accepting it didn’t matter how logical and simple my points were HE/SHE wanted to believe in that particular conspiracy and I was wasting my time so stopped engaging no matter how tempted I was-anyway, when I naively still had hope at helping these misguided persons, I always introduced Occam’s Razor. It’s off topic to go into those discussions here but mainly at that time it was the conspiracies surrounding the 9/11 tragedy and the Twin Towers collapsing practically straight down when a commercial airliner was purposely crashed into each tower. Their theories surrounding this were so ridiculously complicated, truly impossible, plus the various reasons believed as to why this was done and how many people that would have had to have been involved to bring down the towers in their ‘conspiracy’ but unbelievably not one of the hundreds that would have been needed to be involved to accomplish their ‘theory’ has leaked so much as a word about the conspiracy, immediately had me introducing Occam’s Razor...SMH...to no avail. Again this is perfect for this story, as the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

I always thought she joined that Nvxivm cult where women join to be sex slaves, and they rejected her for not being compliant, leaving her on the side of the road.

Congrats? If you're wrong you're being crude and cruel towards someone who really was a victim, and whose experience may very well be worsened by people like you, because what you say may affect how other people view the victim (sometimes people from the very town in which they live), and they or their family could come across it. the weight loss was a claim by her husband and never confirmed anywhere else by anyone else.... same with "the broken nose" and the severity of the bruises. It was all likely exaggerated like everything else claimed in this story. The Sheriff said her injuries were minor - like a sprained ankle. There have been quite a few cases where people disappear, then reappear, and GoFundMe is usually involved. However, due to the amount spent to investigate this, I doubt it's a dead case.
Dr Grande, you were right! Please do an updated video about her arrest and the family dynamics of this situation.

I have a past that many would see as "questionable". I know firsthand that it's possible to change. Her past should definitely be considered, just not as the only factor in determining what's happening in the present.
Yeah I didn't know about the prior issues with her family.
Congrats on reaching 1M! I've seen the numbers increase drastically lately. You earned it. Thanks for your informative videos.
I think the whole think the whole thing smells fishy. BUT, the extreme weight loss, all her injuries seem to be extreme to fall under the heading of self inflected. I don't think hubby's involved. His reactions seem to be genuine. But there's all her history of troubled behavior. Weird case.
Drug fueled sex romp... Probably bondage
I've said it before & I'll no doubt say it again in the future.....your dry sense of humour & wit is second to none. I appreciate it. Thank you for helping me to smile at a time when, let's face it, there's not a lot to smile about.
You got it right, Dr.G! 😃 Lady was just arrested for the hoax. Some “Gone girl,” kind of stuff. It seems truth really is stranger than fiction! 😲
I was SO excited when you did this video!!! I’ve been wanting to recommend it but never got around to it. Your theory is amazing!
Yes, Dr. Grande's theory at the end of the video sounds quite probably to me, indeed. On the other hand - it isn't a rare case that what actually later is found out to be the truth, impressed as the most unlikely thing at first. Our world often turns out to be a quite bizarre one. I can relate to everyone who is careful in his/her judgement here.
Truth is stranger than fiction
The only thing that wouldn't add up in his version is the headphones phone and coat that were found immediately that kick started the investigation. So his theory is shot in regards to deciding later on she was going to pretend a kidnapping after having a bender of sex/affair
My friend, David, who has since passed away was kidnapoed when He was around six years old, his sister was around eight and and his baby brother, Nick was around ten months. Their mother needed to get a few things from the grocery store. It was winter and cold so she left the kids in the backseat with the heater on and the car running. A man saw the car running and stole the car. Then the kids made such a racket screaming at the man that he ditched the kids about a hundred miles away but kept the car. They found the man in the stolen car. He did 20 years in prison. David csnd his siblings kept the newspaper articles and always could make a conversation when things got dull about being kidnapped. It happens. This was in the early 1960's
I have always found this story to be a bit suspicious, and I definitely like your theory as it certainly sounds more plausible than what Papini claimed happened. You always have great theories and great advice, Dr. Grande.
How about a video on why lie detector test are junk? Why are they still used if they are so unreliable? 🤔
As a pressure mechanism. Like how we lord Santa's presents over kids to make them behave.
It just gives them time to ask more questions, while making you nervous.
They give law enforcement a sense of direction especially if they have no other evidence / leads. But lie detector tests aren’t admissible in court.
I’m confused about this subject as well. On a lot of murder investigations they seem to set a high importance on them, but then they are often referred to as useless as well. Which is it???
@@suej3959 So Chris Watts failed the lie-detector and was lured to think that they were on to him!!! He could have denied, denied, denied and never have been proven guilty!!! Theywould NEVER have found the children, Shannan maybe yes but then he could have denied again. Why do people so quicklygive up, they are going in for LIFE so I would never admit to my crime, not before hell freezes.
When I take my earbuds out to have a conversation I generally automatically start wrapping the earbud chord around the phone.
If the women asked her for directions and they got into a conversation I could see doing that and if they asked for physical help of some type I could see her setting her phone down. How does she say they abducted her?
Was the weight loss documented at the hospital?
Definitely going to watch more videos about this case.
I used to do the same thing but around my fingers in order to tuck them in my pocket.
@@trueCrimeGuruYes The cops just announced today that she was arrested and will be charged for fraud for making up the kidnapping. The admitted that it was fake and a cover-up for an affair.

Ooh I like the ending!! Leaves you hanging with suspense!! Haha nice job! PS The ad placement is getting better! I noticed! 👍🏼😃 Keep up the great work Dr. Grande!
Ok, this is going to sound anal probably because it is BUT Wile E Coyote didn't imagine the roadrunner as a hot dog he imagined the roadrunner as a turkey dinner or a chicken dinner. Just saying Doc.
Dr. Grande, I enjoy your videos they have taught me much about how unpredictable and conniving people can be who then turn and act normal. It is shocking but also enlightening as to help me not find myself in a situation which may be perilous and look for warning signs in people's behavior. Thank you.
Can you cover Malachi Love-Robinson, or “Dr. Love”, the teenager in Florida who impersonated a medical doctor and treated patients.
That would be soooo interesting!!!
Oops...
These two were ahead of their time with their face masks.
Never clicked on anything so fast! This is the weirdest story. Excited to hear your take on it.
Spot on analysis.
Dang you nailed it!!!! Respect!

I’m speculating (but not diagnosing), she was abducted by alien lizard people.
Dr. G, as always, you bring us quality content in a way that examines the various factors, personality traits, what evidence is known, and what evidence is not. You are always fair and unbiased, whilst also sharing your own educated thoughts infused with discernment you garner from your emotional intelligence (not everyone is capable of the latter, as an unfortunate number of people lack both emotional intelligence and discernment).
Thank you for covering this case. I’ve found this case to be a most curious, unusual, and disturbing case. I’d like to add that, anything is possible. Pretty please! 🙏🏻
If the principle of Occam’s Razor is applied to this case the answer seems clear to me.
I was thinking the exact same thing! You said it well!
A good example, President Trump lost the election to President Biden because more American citizens voted for Joe Biden. Thanks for your comment.
@@deemariedubois4916 except, we know for a fact, that the constitution states only legislature can determine election practices and judicial bodies determined it. This was the entire basis for the Texas lawsuit the Supreme Court chose not to hear, not based on merit, but based on standing/jurisdiction.
Razor doesn’t apply here. We have verifiable facts you simply ignore or deny and you call those who state the facts conspiracy theorists, inappropriately.
Pennsylvania judicial branch implemented voting procedures. 14th amendment of constitution states only the legislature can. SCOTUS exists to resolve issues like this and refused to do its appointed duty.
Under the conditions pa judicial branch set forth, Biden won. Under the conditions of the constitution, he did not. That is the crux
Hoax🥸
You forgot to add that she is prejudice. At least against mexicans.

I lived in Redding for two years. It’s very isolated, lots of woods, mountains, and lonely roads. I’ve seen strange and sketchy things that happen there. Not sure we will ever find out exactly what happened to her, I remember friends posting all over about her, praying for her safe return. I hope her and her family have found peace regardless.
Same I went to college there and I’m 25 years old and literally the top 5 craziest things iv ever seen has happened in Redding.
It was confirmed today that she faked the kidnapping the entire time. She was in Orange County those entire 22 days cheating on her husband. She got arrested today for fraud.
And now what are your thoughts that she was sentenced for 18M for her hoax kidnapping?. It seems the Redding community has been silenced, now that the abduction was a hoax.
So… who’s watching this after her arrest?
🤣🤗
Oh gosh, I’m interested that you are covering this case. I just started the video. Looking forward to your insights.
I never could figure this one out. I just don’t know why you would break your nose, cut your hair, brand yourself, and lose a ton of weight? I’m just not sure what way to go.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. I’ve been waiting for this one. So many things didn’t make sense.

Wow! Dr Grande was spot on!
It's not impossible that she was kidnapped but it's improbable
You have no idea what the world is really about.
I'm curious as to the kidnappers' agenda or "endgame." What was the point? Not money. Not theft of property. Not death involving life insurance. Not sexual assault. Why bother with the kidnapping? What did they get out of it? Torture appeared to be minimal if she was released from hospital within five hours. Hell you sit in an ER waiting room longer than that. That's the oddest thing to me.

I love how Dr. Grande outright, with no hesitation, dismisses polygraphs - as they should be. Even when you get the feeling that someone is pretty skeptical of them they rarely come out with a strong negative statement on them. No one should ever take one regardless of guilt or innocence .
This always fascinated me thanks for doing this one
