2:20 - she didn’t just refuse to bring her 6 year old daughters lunch to her at school after the daughter forgot it, she actually stated she told the teachers to not give her daughter any food or anything even if they had something to give her “as punishment”. This obviously worried the teachers, and brought up obvious red flags. This is a 6 year old child, ON TOP OF THAT, her 6 year old daughter was actually responsible for making and packing her own lunch, and she had made and packed herself a lunch, but then just forgot to take it with her when she left that day. This woman is completely cruel, and disgustingly abusive.

@@pebblepod30My point was really more that even though her daughter actually had made and packed a lunch, but just forgot to grab it as she left that day, the mom still refused to drop it off for her. For her 6 year old. And then told the teachers to not give her any food even if she was complaining about being hungry all day! Although I personally do think putting the responsibility of making and packing their own lunch to be a little early and stressful for a 6 year old… I think maybe by 8 years old it’s an important skill to teach them, but come on 6 years old is only grade 1! Of course 6 year olds will forget some days, and apparently mom found that “unacceptable! Let her starve!” Ughhh just overall this woman makes me so mad, and learning the fact that she would bind her children’s wrists and ankles with duck tape and lock them in a room at home, PURE EVILLL!!!

This foster mum immediately threw away that toilet cleaning used toothbrush the foster child in front of her was currently using on her teeth & made it her policy to immediately dispose of all toothbrushes any new fosters brought with them & replace them with box new ones. Story stuck with me though, the things some kids that end up in care are forced to do, little things that we all take for granted/are grossed out by, these kids live every day of their lives. Thank you Dr. G. When I heard Ruby say something along the lines of “these kids are numb [to punishment] so I have to keep doing things more severely,” my heart just sank because that was exactly the language my own father used and I knew instantly what she meant by it. I was abused severely for every infraction, most of which were imagined or exaggerated, and my dad grew frustrated that my only coping mechanism was essentially to make myself be unbothered by his continued onslaughts. He continued escalating punishments and told me I was numb and hard hearted (like pharaoh, of course) and needed to be broken.
What it really meant was that he got some kind of twisted satisfaction by harming me and when I had to toughen up and turn my emotions off to it, he wasn’t achieving his effect anymore and had the excuse to do more.
Just by that language alone I can instantly tell what kind of a monster Ruby was behind closed doors.

Even just knowing of the abuse and taking no action is child neglect. I’ve read several different accounts of them being separated and living apart but only recently after the poor child escaped. There was a petition a couple years ago with 17K signatures asking authorities to get involved. CPS said everything was fine and that they’d closed the case. Neighbors say they called CPS repeatedly, that Ruby would put paper over the windows and would leave, by herself, for weeks at a time (while the kids were in the house). I hate to say it but I think bc this was a prominent Mormon family in Utah the issues were swept under the rug. It took a child escaping with injuries that couldn’t be ignored for something to happen. The new charges say that the youngest 2 are developmentally delayed from malnourishment and abuse… this will never be fully over for them. 💔

It almost has to get this bad for CPS to act. Why? Because they need demonstrable evidence for an underfunded agency to act. At the time, it probably was not obvious. The right will say that the government is invading their homes and infringing on freedom. They can’t win.

As someone who is undoing the damage that my horrific parents have done to me, it made me cry for these poor babies to hear that they went through the same thing I went through. To be telling teachers, counselors, school nurses, your doctor, your social workers, your therapist, CPS, etc. Every adult in your life failing you, and not believing you, and believing your abusive mother instead of you. I am so happy that these children have advocates for them. It’s going to be so hard, and healing isn’t linear. But I pray for these children, and I wish nothing but the best for them. Every child deserves a parent. Not every parent deserves their child.

My Mother was my abuser and my family protected her because she was just so out of her mind. In my forties now I wish they helped me and got me help. Thankfully I’m a strong woman who can heal appropriately. I do what I need to do but how I wish someone got me the help I so needed. She had me so afraid of asking for help, she would tell me this was the best I could get and that go ahead get help and laugh. She told me nightmare stories about people who ‘got help’ when I became a Mother it was traumatizing to me because the things she did and said to me, I could never ever do it to my son. I’ve always wanted to be the opposite of my Mother and I am. I’ve broken those generational curses and removed her from my and my sons lives. She and my sister who were the biggest abusers in our family. They lied together about me because finally, I spoke up against my Mother and told her how I thought. She didn’t like that so my sister spread worse lies. My son is a wonderful soul and I’m so grateful I am different from them. The tears I cried and abuse I suffered my son will never experience. I took that for our team. My son will not be a bully or abuser either. Nothing my mother ever said to me was the truth and I don’t lie to my son. Our relationship is beautiful and my job as his Mother is to love him, support him and help him become the man he wants to be. My Mother has nothing to do with who I am, who I’ve always been and who I am today. She used to always take credit for my successes, even though she never helped me with anything or cheered me on. The better I did the worse the abuse and the meaner she got. I think she felt I was making her look like a failure. I surpassed all her failures with amazing marks

My father also kept track of how often my brother used the word "ain't". My brother had to pay a penny each time he used the word. There was a little chart in the kitchen for everyone to look at. In short, my father embarrassed my brother in front of the family.

FIRST: The Mormon Church has a Media Department that helps all families develop a Vlog Channel, Family channels, ones that reflect the Mormon Church "Values".
See Mormons are forced to give a MANDATORY 10% of their entire earnings BEFORE TAXES as their "Tithing". So the more money they make, the more money the church recieves.
The fact this child wasn't believed it because those kids are Mormon. The ENTIRE neighborhood, school, cops, teachers & portion of that town are all in the same ward. It's against church Doctrine to call the cops. Even the police that are Mormon are required to tell the ward Bishop & the CHURCH "prophet's" decide if she is guilty, what her punishment is & they work it out with the father of the house. The father is the "head" of his congregation aka Family.
You guys need to look into how the Mormon Church lead to JJ & Tylee being murdered by Lori Daybell.

My understanding is that he was complicit during everything filmed for "8 Passengers". Then, when Ruby teamed up with Jodi, his involvement became less and less. They then split up after she launched "Moms of Truth" with Jodi (as it was more "mother-based", meaning that she didn't need him anymore) and she moved in with Jodi, with her youngest kids (the 2 who were hospitalised) in tow. So he wouldn't have been present for the whole "hostage victims" abuse, but whether he knew about it or not remains to be seen.
The early, more psychological abuse was definitely taking place with his knowledge. But the physical "tying them up and causing wounds" thing seems to have happened at Jodi's house, so it wasn't under his roof like the early stuff, but I've no idea if he knew about it. As the arrests are related to this later physical abuse, I would imagine that's why he hasn't been mentioned - as he has not been arrested or charged. Yet.
More and more is coming out everyday about this case, so I imagine we'll have an answer before long.

Most CPS caseworkers are unmarried women who were abused as children and they will always find fault with men. The children who are really abused are left in the abusive situations and the children who are removed from their families are traumatized for the rest of their lives. The caseworkers have way too much power over the fate of families and most of them have no idea of the harm they cause others while somehow getting satisfaction from the power they have to destroy lives in some sort of sick payback for their awful childhoods. There is no good reason to go into social work unless you crave power over others. The pay is lousy and you won't have many friends.

The truth of course being what people like Ruby have decided is "truth" so they can dismiss the "distortions" of those around them under the guise of some kind of superior mental health knowledge.
I think the real reason Ruby deleted her account is because she indeed felt she had been too "permissive" with her kids and wanted to begin implementing significantly harsher punishments and rules that she couldn't hide if they were on camera all the time.

I knew a 4 year old who used to pack her own lunch, cause she enjoyed doing it. Her mum used the time she saved in not having to do it to read to her daughter & generally show her absolute & devoted love & affection.
I also used to run a youth group in an inner city area, where kids were almost all raised to be really independent. When we ran a 2 night camp with them, a few of the parents of the 8-10 year old boys allowed their kids to pack their own bags & didn't check them. I'd written up a list of what they needed to bring to the camp, but obvoiusly it was not clear enough when I had written
      "2 changes of clothes
1 set of clothes that can get messy
PJ's or other clothes to wear to bed"
The boys packed 1 tshirt, 1 jumper & counted the clothes they were wearing as another set, including for bed, so when they had a flour fight on the first evening, we quickly discovered they had no change of clothes other than what they were to wear to bed. Washing machine at the campsite got a LOT of work that weekend! Parents just laughed & thought it was a good lesson for the kids in independence & learning to follow directions better. Parents had figured even if they screwed up, 2 days & 2 nights wasn't going to harm them & trusted us to deal with the fall out, or call them if we really had to (one parent had to drive to the campsite to collect a homesick child that couldn't be calmed down anyway, they would have done the same with clothes if it was really needed)
Translation, I don't see the issue with a young child making their own lunch, some kids enjoy doing things like that. The issue is that the mum realised the lunch had been forgotten & didn't drive it to the school & deliver it, along with a big hug & kiss. Alternatively, if she was working & unable to deliver, I would expect parents involved in that level of independence developing in their kids to be organising money for the child to buy food at school, or ordering food from a delivery company to be delivered to the child at school & calling the school to clear this, NOT calling the school to tell them to make the child starve!

Where is the father in these horrible family dynamics? He should be accountable for the misery these kids were going through. She certainly does not deserve to be part of these kids' lives, neither the father.

I was abused by a stepmother who did similar things with food and duck tape and also bragged about how religious our family was and how she didn’t put up with any childhood nonsense. Fast forward to being a adult i find stories cause me become incredibly upset and emotional. I’m glad to hear the behavioral science/ psychological behind

@@JustAnAverageWoman69 in denial. Total denial. But was important to appear as a outward Christian family there was a period of time she made me eat on the floor for being a messy kid at meal time. She would lock us in closets. She said if we told our father then we really get it afterwards. We would tell him they would argue about the incident or he would makes excuses about how we just made her so upset. As adults he tries to frame it as that us adult kids and his wife put him in the middle. I mentioned the Turpin children incident and how it triggered horrible memories for me and he said “ watch for this right turn here there is a lot of potholes. “ absolutely sick.

Sometimes abuse is so systemic that the victims/survivors know something is wrong but don't have the language to articulate what's occurring in order to get help...as a survivor I'm hoping these kids get the help they need to heal in mind and body. ❤

I certainly agree of your review of this case. I am no expert, of course, and I don’t even have children but when a child has to escape a window to seek help, this is a very sad situation of abuse and cruelty by parents. To me, it almost seems there must be some kind of relationship and maybe known or unknown to the husband between Jody and Ruby. I feel this relationship guilt by Ruby caused her to project these feelings exhibited by the increase of her extreme punishments to her own children.

EXACTLY how the Mormon Church lead to JJ & Tylee being murdered by Lori Daybell.
