For the people missing Terrain Tools: You have to go to the advanced settings on the Package Manager (under Project Settings, or clicking on the Cog on the Package Manager window -> Advanced Project Settings), and enable "Preview Packages". Apparently the tools is still on development or something. It works, tho.

For those who Terrain tools doesn't appear, just download and import the terrain tools asset sample pack. I did that and after like 5-7 minutes my new brushes appeared. Maybe even restart Unity.
The fact that you did this in 15 minutes is impressive than the other developers because they were so lazy to make the graphics look great, they just want to make it that looks like a mobile/Ps2 game. You deserve to be an excellent game designer 👏
First of all, I really like your description, it is an easy and nice tutorial. However, I'm gonna say that it would be easier if you place the grasses before trees, because it is really hard to see empty places when trees are placed. Thanks for the video!
Don't forget you HAVE to set a height (using set height) and do "flatten tile" to be able to LOWER a terrain, took me a while to figure out why shift-click to lower wasn't working lol!
I tried to make a scene by using my own trees and grasses but it was too ugly. I just want to salute to the guy who made all the texture and giving it for free. After all it's the textures and trees which beautify the environment.
So i dont know why but for the terrain tool sample pack, i have it imported but i don't have the additional settings and am not able to engage the brush hotkeys either.
Probably too late of a reply, but for anyone else who needs it, the version with the stroke section and tools such as the hotkeys requires the Terrain Tools found under package manager, instead of the one from the asset store. To see it, click the cog in the top right of package manager and click to enable Preview Packages. Then, search Terrain Tools in the package manager search bar and install from there

Quick question, using only the (awesome) assets you listed, there is an option to easily adjust the wind setting for grass and plants, which work well but have no effect on the trees. Can you point out where to find those pls? The scene does not look natural with the ground assets moving but the trees remain dead still :D
Someone needs to make a tutorial on how to make dense forests that don't destroy your fps. These trees are so spread out and wouldn't hide any points of interest that you would build around the terrain.
Reduce draw distance, use fog, LOD's, Occlusion culling, etc. His terrain is just really flat which is why it looks plain. Instead of also perfectly spacing out the trees. Have more dense and less dense areas. You also need to be aware that optimization and clever planning will be most of your time. Not really a tutorial that can be made as it would take too long but just study other games terrain

Importing heightmaps etc. can be a pain in the butt. This is so much kinder and gentler for just getting started.

you can do it, just make sure that the textures you use are seamless and have enough quality for large terrains.
