Hey guys I made a mistake at the frame generation part at 5:41 declaring the 4090 as 10% faster on the average FPS when it's the 7900XTX that is ahead by 6 fps resulting in a draw between the two since it's below 5%. Thank at @shaarkyygaming for pointing it out. It wasn't intentional.

Just a suggestion, but instead of using vsync for better frame pacing when using frame gen, limit the fps to 2-3 fps under your display's refresh rate from riva tuner or similar options. Same result with lower latency.

@@DeathComeInPeace With MSI Afterburner the Riva Tuner opens too, click twice on the Rive Tuner icon in the right corner where the programs are open (don't know the name in English) and there is an option Framerate limit and if your montior is for example 165 hz set the maximum limit to 162 and its better than VSYNC. I know you don't asked me but I use it this method too.

I wasn't expecting such a good‚ fast and simple analysis. This video just made me to subscribe =D
The fact that we have to slowdown and zoom-in to see where the artifacts are happening in this game while using frame generation is a bit mind-blowing.
And my opinion on this implementation of FSR3 is verry good. I really like it. Now I want to takeout my RX 6600 and test this game with my 5600g VEGA iGPU‚ as I feel like it could play it decently (I am not expecting something like 1080p 60 FPS medium).
Also, I've found myself liking FSR3 upscaling in this game‚ if I've had to use it to have a playable experience at 1080p I would gladly use it even with Performance or Balanced upscaling preset. Somehow it isn't as bad as I've seen FSR2/3 in other games. OFC not perfect‚ but the fact that I am not against upscaling in this game really tells me that it is a good implementation.
Thank you again for such a good analysis video.

I own a XTX and I really like it, so maybe I'm not so imparcial but I always try.
In my opinión in this video the FSR FG resolve the image quality better than DLSS FG. In this comparation I found less intrusive the effect on the legs on the FSR side, meanwhile on the DLSS side the disocclusion effect seems more aggressive. In any case I think both are doing a great job. And this is normal for DLSS but a good new for the last updates on the FSR side.
So, I have a question here.
What do you think was happend with the last fixed on the FSR 3?
AMD fix fsr? Did they train the Nixxes developers and other studies? Or maybe AMD launched a new way to implement fsr?

I really enjoyed my RX7900XT... But on AMD side, the power consumption is just rediculous - even when capping FPS. That's one of the reasons (but not the ultimate one) I switched. My RTX4080 (ProArt) on ultra 1440p native and capped 60fps (why would you need more in a single player game like this) is drawing around 140 Watts average. Combined with my R7 7800X3D (around 30 Watts) my whole setup is drawing less or same power as a PS5 and almost quiet with both cpu and gpu way under 60 degrees.

The problem about comparing stock gpu's, is that AMD and nvidia aren't apples to apples, an amd gpu with the same clocks than other aib model, but with way higher power limits, is going to perform better, while nvidia can lock to their oc clocks, but real performance of those clocks won't be seen until their power targets start reaching there.
In one hand, the lead is game dependent, some games favor nvidia and others amd, so the 4090 lead on raster can be as high as 40%, and as low as 15-20% (or a tie in warzone), but like, your XTX has power limits way above stock levels, and since it's the nitro+, i know for a matter of fact, that it's an XTX model that comes out of factory performing better than every other aib, so that gives it easily an 8-10% bump compared to other models, no XTX stock reaches 400-420W out of the box and performs the same, while your 4090 isn't even reaching 350w, at times dipping below 300w, if you don't like tweaking, no one will notice for sure and that's fine, it's just data, but that XTX is tunned out of the factory, so it is not a "fair" comparison, when one it's an tunned model, and the other only has slightly higher clocks, while it's power target isn't even reaching 350w, the "fair" comparison would be either an 4090 reaching 400w, or a tunned model like a strix, theres more to the story than just 99% utilization on nvidia gpu's, it's a bit weird.
TLDR; a stock 4090 vs stock XTX, it is around 20% faster in GoT, give or take depending on clocks, power limits, models, but again, or the 4090 costs a lot more, and the lead here isn't big enough here to see the extra 700usd making effect.

This difference is because these Sony games are designed to work perfectly on the RDNA architecture, so the optimization for nvidia is not as thorough as AMD but they still keep it at a good level, anyway. The 4090 is much stronger than the 7900xtx, which we already know from many games and is even well optimized for working software, but when you mention the 4090 model, I think it seems to be the basic model. xtx is true nitro, if the 4090 were an Asus Strix or MSI suprim model the performance level would be significantly higher

    Great comparison, as always!
What I do not like about modern Nvidia - these days (since RTX was introduced) they rarely take any participation in games optimization process for their GPUs, unless it is a game with built-in heavy RT effects.
Ghost of Tsushima, in particular, was probably sponsored by Nvidia, since they released the game trailer on their official channel (Nvidia Geforce) and it also supports DLSS 3.
Yet, it looks like they did zero effort to optimize it for their GPUs, at least RTX 4000.
I remember that earlier all Nvidia sponsored titles performed better on their GPUs, rather than AMD's. For instance, 1060 was outperforming 580 in quite a few games.
But now we see that in many titles, even those ones sponsored by Nvidia themselves, 4090 can only slightly outperform or just match 7900 XTX.
While AMD are doing a much better job with games optimization for their GPUs. Sometimes there are issues with their software, like it was with Helldivers 2, but mostly they are fine.
For me it looks like these days Nvidia has a more significant issue with software optimization, when it comes to games. Technically most games run fine on their cards, but there are quite a few of them, which are underperforming. It is pretty obvious, when you compare any 4000 card with any 7000 card. It seems like raster performance is not important for them anymore, yet majory of modern games are still using only raster tech. I do not understand what are they thinking about. Seems like they are all about that AI bubble now and most of their software specialists are working with AI instead of games.

So it would be logical to assume that their GPUs should perrform a bit better in this game, due to some software optimizations, like it was happening earlier in older games. But in reality it is the opposite, which is strange. I mean, why would they sponsor this game and make zero optimizations for their cards? Nvidia's software team is surely much bigger than AMD's one, so it seems reasonable to expect them to work faster and provide better results. real questions who using a card and dont check the DLSS/FSR and FrameGen, Raytracing lol, If u on a budget get a amd period, if u dont like Upscalers, Framgen and RayTracing and lower TDP get a cheap amd card...I personally dont like to skimp on those features. i personally like to use all feature, I just dont skim when it comes to cards, ATI/Radeon use to be a power house in the early 90s late 90s early-mid 2000, now days they just react and copy what Nvidia is doing, i always get a 2080-3080 or 4080. my 3080 was $1850+tax in 2020 lol pretty happy with My New Msi Supreme X 4090 But then again most cant tell the difference between 175hz and 210hz lol..

Im curious about one thing, this game was og made for playstation and optimized for PS which uses AMD grafic cards so it was build around this architecture and for it, so probably this is real reason why this card doing so well in this game if you going to look other benchmarks online than you will see that 4090 is better for something like 30%. And if you want do money vs productivity comparision then 7900 simply wins but not everyone is buying card and look only for this factor, some just wants to have best thing they can. And AMD didnt have anything that fully compares to 4090 so choice for this people is only one. That means if you bought 7900 than money was a top thing in your choice and you gonna be super happy for saving and still going very high. People pays big money just for tunning cars to be faster 1 or 2 seconds to 60 and they didnt care about guy next door that have car for half price and think is better coz payd less. Some just like to have better stuff than others. Soon we wil have 5090 and distance between AMD and Nvidia will be count in light years not in percents.

Really well implementation of fsr3 aa. AMD sucks at marketing their products inswear. This fsr3 AA native shouldve been sold a bit more cause it's amazing honestly.

The Asus Tuf 4090 pulls between 400 to 420 watts when fully utilized. This game is not fully utilizing the 4090. There have been a few games which favor AMD hardware, this game may turn out to be one of them. The most notable example is Call of Duty.

I was never a fanboy of any teams. I just buy what my budget can afford, but to be honest I have been using Ngreedia since before from the 960, 1080, 3070. But now I got sick and tired of Ngreedia milking their consumer for every last drop of blood, sweat, and tears. I upgraded to an rx 7800 xt instead.
Since realistically no one constantly uses ray tracing on anything because of the huge 50-60% performance drop even my friend who owns a 4090 and is a total Ngreedia shill fanboy stopped using ray tracing after 2 months because he wanted to maximize his FPS, the nvidia video encoder is good, but if you have a CPU with an iGPU you can use those video encoders instead.
