I bought one and returned it. Maybe my batteries were defective or a firmware update made battery usage more efficient but I didn’t see anywhere near the run time you did. I have 2 acres to mow and it couldn’t do more than 1.5 (of regular length grass) without going into rescue mode needing a recharge. The deck rattle was driving me nuts as well. The decals started peeling off and getting bubbles under the surface within 3 weeks (stored in the garage except for while mowing), giving the plastic a really cheap look. I can’t fathom what this thing would look like in 3 years. Yes, the power/torque was insane and I loved how quiet it was (minus the deck rattle). But after a few weeks of usage, it was clear to me that this was a $2k mower with $3k worth of batteries… I couldn’t justify keeping it. I hope my experience was a fluke - I really wanted to love this mower. Maybe a few generations down the line they’ll have these issues worked out and I can get a more mature version.
Excellent video!!! I know the running lights are not using that much power but it slightly bothered me with running them on during the day when trying to get as much as possible out of the mower's batteries. 🙂 Well done!
I was lucky to be able to get one of these mowers the same year as they were introduced. I wish they had these about thirty years ago. Name anything, I love everything the list is to long. I have a half acre of lush, thick, weed free KGB. The batteries last for the entire mow, even when running the blades at higher speed to mulch leaves in the fall. The cut is so even people thought I had installed fake grass. My wife said that when just driving past the lawn looks to fakey. I don't know if I like that description. I mow two to three times a week not only because the lawn needs it or to keep it looking fake, it's because it's actually fun when one has the perfect tool.
Yes!! I've been waiting to someone do this. I really like the Ego gear, I would really love an Ego push mower because I only have a small lawn, but I can't afford it at all. I am keen to get a hedger so I can expand my business into hedging too. My dad said though once I reach 1k subs he might look at gettting me my own cyclinder mower so we can have that bowling green look one day. You're a legend Stan, I love your videos and I really appreciate now how much work goes into fillming and editing etc because I film my own videos.
I get about 80 minutes out of my Ego push mower with a 10Ah battery cutting tall weeds (including frequent stops to clear out weeds clogging the chute). That covers about 1/3 of an acre. The runtime on normal grass is about the same. The real question is whether it still lasts that long in a few years.
I bought an ego about 5-6 yrs ago it is the old model but I have had zero problems, it still as strong today as it was when I first used it. I have about 1\2 acre takes about an hour and half to mow, trim (also have ego trimmer) the mower has 7.5Ah battery and I get a good hour and half or more mow time. I still have battery time left after I finishing mowing 1\2 acre. One of the best investments I have made, I hope you have just as good service out of yours.
Ryobi came out with a 54 inch electric mower with a manufactured deck and longer run time. Hope you get one of those to test as that one looks the most impressive for home owners with bigger properties.
I bought a Ryobi in 2021. Batteries started going to hell last season. Now in 2023 it's pretty much useless. Was under warranty. A repairman had it for like 6 weeks, said he was having trouble finding replacement batteries. I just found out yesterday I'm getting a full refund. Now I'm thinking about going with the Ego mower. Reviews on the Ryobi aren't good, the lead acid batteries are very unreliable.
I have one. They are amazing. Tesla of lawn mowers. Coupled with the lineup of compatible lawn tools and a nexus power station and you have quite a powerful battery system. Also, The mower deck unplugs and comes off in 30 seconds. Bungee up the cables and The family loves it as a go cart.
I've got an ego lawnmower, weed wacker, edger, hedge trimmer and pole saw. The problem I have is all the batteries are starting to fail right after the warranty period ends. They all seem to crap out right after 3 years. It really makes me want to switch brands.
If there blinking red most of the time its just a loose connection just take the screws out and check to make sure the connection are good 3 of mine so far i have fixed this way
@@MichaelHarrell11 thanks. I'll try that with the one that has that problem. My other two batteries have different problems. One is the battery just dies really quick on any tool. The other has the battery get very very hot while using it and get blinking yellow lights.
I love this mower, Im thinking on getting the E-steer with the little steering wheel, with display right in front of you. It is also $6000 dollars!! Im kind of concerned with charging the mower in the garage where it can reach 90 degrees. Will them batteries get really hot during that 2 hour charge time, and possible fire hazard? and leaving the batteries in the mower in the garage instead of bringing them every time, that would defeat the purpose! I have a corner lot and is pretty good size yard but is not even close to a quarter acre. I probably would not have to charge them batteries for at least 7 or 8 mowings or more!!! You or any of other guys charged that mower in hot temperatures please make me feel better, if there is any concern? Thanks for your time!!
That's a lot of work even for a gas mower, impressive! My mower won't even touch that stuff. If range is an issue it's probably comes down to how it's used. Probably not ideal if your going from lawn to lawn and not charging in between, but if your just doing one lawn and have time to charge up batteries it's pretty viable.
I have the EGO push mower and several other EGO yard tools. The push mower is sufficient, with a 7.5aH battery, to mow most of my yard of about half an acre. That brings up the thing that not many users of electric over gas yard tools mention, and that's recharge time. A rapid charger for the 7.5aH battery takes about an hour to recharge from the lowest charge level the mower allows, which I think is about 15%. A second battery is necessary to finish the job right away, versus waiting for a charge. Easy enough for me with a few other tools' batteries from which to choose. If all one has is one battery, that would substantially increase the time needed to finish such a job, whereas a gas mower can be refilled in moments. What is the recharge time for the six-pack of batteries the zero-turn riding mower? How much do extra batteries cost? Just some things to keep in mind, not deal breakers for me, I now prefer battery over gas for typical home-use yard tools. No potentially dangerous gas cans in the shed or garage, no oil changes, no air filters, no spark plug changes, no exhaust fumes, and way less noise. The tools also weigh less, easier to lug around.
According to what I've found out this mower can do 10.000 m2 on a single charge (all 6 batteries), that's almost 2.5 acres. The charger is supposed to load tha batteries in 2 hours, I'm assuming that is referring to one battery. Honestky the more I find out about this the more I like it, the only thing I'm not a fan of is the color scheme but I'd get over that. My guess is that one battery somewhere in the 500$ range. If they behave like every other power tool battery they'll last you for years, except maybe if you mow several acres a day professionally or really beat the machine up. And all that for 5000$, sounds amazing.
Really liked this review. You’re mowing grass like I have; farm grass! I’m impressed with the electric mowers so far. My electric push mower, greenworks pro 21", does an impressive job on the big grass (2-3’) on rough terrain! While I’m impressed with the zero-turn you tested (and some others I’ve seen demoed online), I’m not quite ready to switch to one for my main mower. I’m just upgraded to using commercial grade zero-turn (hustler fasttrak 54") now and retired my residential grade zero-turn cubcadet 48" (with the steering wheel) to cleanup duty. I used the cub for everything since 2017 and put 900 hrs on it; it took a beating, but after 2 sets of spindles and some deck welding, it’s still functional. The electric mowers in commercial grade are still too expensive for me.. but I think they are getting there (are there?) capability-wise! Just get those prices down!
Send me one will ya? The missus and I are eyeballing several acres wayyy outta the city before the crap hits the fan. We're already in the boonies, but we're possibly headin' to the middle of nowhere. We are going to check out and hopefully decide this weekend. Ive always lived on the cheap, while my peers are in half $million homes, Im in my little condo. But, times change and I wanna grow some corn I think. Gonna need a mower. 😁
Ok, my wife and I are wanting to get an electric zero-turn mower. This EGo looks like one of the best on the market right now, Although Ryobi has a new "joystick" mdel coming out soon it looks like a decent mower, and they are making a 30" model that will fit through gates easily.

Happy to help you test a real Ego Zero Turn, and send you what I wrote. Willing to send you mine from Alabama or let you test it here
Definitely interested in one of these!!! I have the push mower and for the most part i like it but im not impressed with run time. I may have the smaller battery. I also noticed if you “give it a break” it seems to regain some battery life
the self recharging is a mix of the battery chemistry restabalising (most notable in old lead acid car batteries where they produced hydrogen gas under load) and probably a bit of the batteries load balancing as each battery is just a box of batteries
Ego makes some good products but the problem is their batteries don’t last. We tried them in our commercial lawn care business and had 2-7.5ah batteries go after a year and a 3rd one at a 1.5yrs. I live in the south and the heat index routinely gets 110+. We made the switch to husqvarna commercial battery equipment and have not had one issue after a year. The husqvarna Bli200x and 300 batteries have a built in fan that helps cool the batteries in extreme heat. So far very happy with the switch.
@@Dirtmonkey Hey Stan, yes we contacted ego about it and they replaced the batteries under warranty but it took a few months to get them back. We ended up just selling off the ego equipment do to the long down time for replacement parts. If they had local dealers with parts in stock like husqvarna or stihl it would’ve been a better experience. You should give the husqvarna stuff a try one day I think you’ll be impressed.
I wonder if the increase in battery as you go along could also have something to do with voltage sag. The battery voltage drops under heavy load, and then returns to a more nominal value when the load is removed. It's a normal thing with drones, e-bikes, and other things that use Lithium batteries in high current applications.
Okay this is the third video Ive watched just had to subscribe, love the real grass and mud and hilly terrain and often during the rain. Just the facts. Cannot justify the cost of used car though. :-) Hoping the cost comes down with volume manufacturing and battery tech.
I would've grabbed the cordless impact after the first bolt was halfway in. I love the idgaf way you took that mower off the skid. I guess that's part of the test. Do they let you keep the mowers they send for reviews? If so a giveaway with them would be awesome, or even donate them to teenagers looking to start a lawn care business.
That mower just keeps on trucking. I figured that the mower's battery would last longer than your camera arm. Interesting that this is where you grew up and slopped the hogs back in the day. Thanks Stan...
Thank you for this video. I'm seriously considering buying this mower for my 2-acre property. I've mowed the kind of tall (Johnson) grass (about 6 feet high) that you mowed with my Troy-Bilt 46-inch gas mower. Took forever but it did the job. My property has portions that are like the pig pen area - all torn up with ruts (don't ask why!) so your showing me what this mower can do on rough ground like that is very much appreciated. I'm wondering, however, how long it takes to charge up the batteries.
Wah! 🤗
Interesting, I see that it has longevity in run time but I wonder if it has longevity in the durability department. And it seems to do a decent job in less then optimal conditions.

What was the temperature, my Milwaukee electric chainsaw battery lasts a long time when it's below freezing out but at 90 degrees it makes just a few cuts and is dead
I would like to see how it cuts on a hilly Terrain. Will it climb a steep hill and the front wheels still stay on the ground. How will it perform a going downhill. These are always challenges for a zero turn and I have not seen anyone show me what it would do
Hi Stanley the mower seems to work really good but I saw one or two red tractors at the farm would like to see a video on the tractor. Have a really great day.

Great video love the reviews you do. Been watching a few years now. Own a landscaping company. Started buying battery equipment this year. We use Milwaukee impacts etc. But because of your reviews and a great dealer near by bought Makita line trimmer and push mower. For my guys , my guys were total against beginning of the year and now fight over the trimmer, will be buying more. But moving forward are interested in a commercial electric mower. Is there any chance you will be reviewing the Mean green zero turn mowers?
I have an electric commercial zero turn but I went with Greenworks. For me the price of mean green was to high and although I have not used one to compare it to from what I understand I’m not sure if there is a significant difference between greenworks and mean green. I paid 10$k for a 52” stander which retails for 14$k but I was able to get a promotional deal. The runtime is way more then I need for a day of mowing but one thing to consider is these electric zero turns are heavy mine is 1500 lbs
Not to mention included in the run time, you had the headlights on the whole time. Probably led, but still consuming some of that battery power. Impressive machine.
There are lights that are on when the mower is on. There are additional lights that are controllable for night mowing. No matter, the led's use so little power compared to the 4 motors that they are practically insignificant.
Thank you for the video. I feel this is the most comprehensive test of this machine out there to test how good it is

Mayvbe it was you that I originally heard this story from? about run time issues. That was why I did this video. to see what was going on.
Finally Friday, I get to catch up on your videos! Love the information, I can learn!
You will get there if you want it...sounds like you are on your way & growing👍 Thanks for the compliment & understanding. God Bless & Go get em!
Thanks Stan, I’ll sure will. God bless!
@FROSTY Cheers for that. Share me around too if you can. Have a great day
I get about 80 minutes out of my Ego push mower with a 10Ah battery cutting tall weeds (including frequent stops to clear out weeds clogging the chute).
Best part of getting a new mower is the frame it comes with!
Ryobi came out with a 54 inch electric mower with a manufactured deck and longer run time. Hope you get one of those to test as that one looks the most impressive for home owners with bigger properties.
It's soild. Don't really like the fact that they use lead acid batteries with long recharge time.
There is a well made video from the RUclips channel “aging wheels” on the Ryobi mower
This is interesting, but I am so glad we are getting closer to plow season!
Wow I didn't know that so changing the blades must be pretty easy then
I've got an ego lawnmower, weed wacker, edger, hedge trimmer and pole saw. The problem I have is all the batteries are starting to fail right after the warranty period ends. They all seem to crap out right after 3 years. It really makes me want to switch brands.
Oh No...Really?!? That sucks...thanks for the input. Good to know
If there blinking red most of the time its just a loose connection just take the screws out and check to make sure the connection are good 3 of mine so far i have fixed this way
@@MichaelHarrell11 thanks. I'll try that with the one that has that problem. My other two batteries have different problems. One is the battery just dies really quick on any tool. The other has the battery get very very hot while using it and get blinking yellow lights.
@@Dirtmonkey other than battery durability, I love them. It's great not having to mess with carbs and running to get gas.
How much are replacements?
Very impressed with that mower! Cut quality looked pretty good too
Right 😁
You have AMAZING backing up skills!
For something that is battery operated it looks like this did one hell of a job and you get to finish up and make it back home ♥️🤟🏽🤟🏽
Hello Stan. Hope all is good. Great Video. Very cool.
Thank you! I’m doin great hope ya are too 👍
Mental note: Pass if Stan offers to unbox your new mower for you =) Another awesome vid, keep em comin' !
So true-lol. I probably won't do it the way I'm "suppose to" so u should all do it the way u r suppose to. Thanks😂
@@Dirtmonkey Thanks for taking the time to reply! Be safe and best wishes to the whole crew.
What a great way to show off the endurance of the mower.
This thing costs about 5000 dollars, don't know gow it can get any cheaper than that when it comes to zero turns.
I'd love to see you put the Ryobi through this type of cutting, see how it does vs the EGO. The EGO is impressive.
I really enjoyed this demo, You make really good video's. Just wish we had some reliable dirt monkeys like you here around Cando, ND that are honest like you are. Thank you for your content n video's
i have one and love it BUT my suspension seat failed and im still waiting on a replacement with less than 25H on the unit...
How long have you been waiting?
i must say the flashing reversing lights are a nice touch
Stan Lucy cracks me up running back and forth as you were mowing cool dog but stubborn a little bit 🐕🦺 🪰love you don’t they
Stan, whatever you tested is not what they sold us. I wrote several paragraphs I planned to post on your original review in frustration hoping something like this would happen and let it go. Happy to help you test a real Ego Zero Turn, and send you what I wrote. Willing to send you mine from Alabama or let you test it here
Definitely interested in one of these!!! I have the push mower and for the most part i like it but im not impressed with run time. I may have the smaller battery. I also noticed if you “give it a break” it seems to regain some battery life
Fair enough & good to know!
the self recharging is a mix of the battery chemistry restabalising (most notable in old lead acid car batteries where they produced hydrogen gas under load) and probably a bit of the batteries load balancing as each battery is just a box of batteries
@@Hewitt_himself could it also have a mechanism like in electric cars where it will charge the batteries a little from driving it.
@@durby24 nope. There is no regenerate braking.
what,s up with lights on all time for other than to drain the batt.
Huh...interesting. Thanks for that input! Did you guys ever try contacting Ego about it?
@@Dirtmonkey Hey Stan, yes we contacted ego about it and they replaced the batteries under warranty but it took a few months to get them back. We ended up just selling off the ego equipment do to the long down time for replacement parts. If they had local dealers with parts in stock like husqvarna or stihl it would’ve been a better experience. You should give the husqvarna stuff a try one day I think you’ll be impressed.
@@inlinesix1187 I would be interested in seeing that also.
I wonder if the increase in battery as you go along could also have something to do with voltage sag. The battery voltage drops under heavy load, and then returns to a more nominal value when the load is removed. It's a normal thing with drones, e-bikes, and other things that use Lithium batteries in high current applications.
Yes, this is correct.
Okay this is the third video Ive watched just had to subscribe, love the real grass and mud and hilly terrain and often during the rain. Just the facts. Cannot justify the cost of used car though. :-) Hoping the cost comes down with volume manufacturing and battery tech.
Wow honestly I am kinda impressed with the run time of that mower. Was not expecting that.
Honestly same
I would've grabbed the cordless impact after the first bolt was halfway in. I love the idgaf way you took that mower off the skid. I guess that's part of the test. Do they let you keep the mowers they send for reviews? If so a giveaway with them would be awesome, or even donate them to teenagers looking to start a lawn care business.
hope you get to demo one of those gravely electric zero turns in the near future.
That would be cool!
That mower just keeps on trucking. I figured that the mower's battery would last longer than your camera arm. Interesting that this is where you grew up and slopped the hogs back in the day. Thanks Stan...
Long term review?
I’ll keep ya updated 👊
Im impressed by that lil bugger...summers long enough; we need some plow videos STAT.
Summer is Not that long here in MN...so they will be coming soon!😉
@@Dirtmonkey been too damn long imho twin cities have been hot;up N is hot...hopefully get some super soaker rains to create some mud to cool down on the wheelers
Great video Stan I really enjoyed this video 🇺🇲
Thanks Thomas appreciate it!
Definitely polish, Stan doesn’t wait for battery’s to charge and drive it off the pallet but decides to rip it out from the mower😂😂
Definitely polish indeed 😆
I have had two German Short haired Pointers so far and one lived to be 17 years old. They are so lovable and goofy.
Those are Awesome dogs!!! My dad had one "Katie" & she was such a good dog! Hard to get off point..amazing hunters right?
I just noticed you changed your profile pic for the first time since 2019 keep up making the videos
Thanks! Will do!
Dude that grass length is insane. It's an impressive mower.
Great job on testing the mower, looks like it could be a great mower. Tell the company to ship me one also, I think my yard that I mow is over 2 acres
Hahah 👍
Excellent demo. You could use my ezturn bar attachment to really free up your camera hand 👍🏾
Hey Stan, cool video! I like your new profile picture!
Thanks Oliver 👊
That is one awesome machine Stanley
I really think it is👍
What was the temperature, my Milwaukee electric chainsaw battery lasts a long time when it's below freezing out but at 90 degrees it makes just a few cuts and is dead
That mower is no joke. Cool machine.
I think so!👍
Howdy! Hope you have a great day! Keep up the great work!
Thanks man hope ya have an awesome week & go get em 👍
I would like to see how it cuts on a hilly Terrain. Will it climb a steep hill and the front wheels still stay on the ground. How will it perform a going downhill. These are always challenges for a zero turn and I have not seen anyone show me what it would do
That's impressive that it made it through all that.
Hi Stanley the mower seems to work really good but I saw one or two red tractors at the farm would like to see a video on the tractor. Have a really great day.
Man bro that was insanely crazy never thought a battery riding lawn mower can do that
I adopted a red fox lab. Best dog I’ve ever had very smart and tough
I have never heard of that breed.
I had similar grass height that I was able to tackle with my Ego T6
Great video
I’m liking that new profile pic lol
Thanks! 😁
You never disappoint , and now I can go to bed 😂Lol 👍 Tam.
Thanks & Good Night😉
Looking foward to a little show n tell about that ego holster please. If you have already talked about it please point me in the right direction.
Bought the tools and one of these for my girlfriend. Works great . Mow what you can plug her into recharge the batteries while weed eating and such go again. Works great. Got a step van gonna ad solar panels and chargers and a bank of batteries. Got the nexus power station as well. Should work great.
That was a lot of cutting. Looks like a good unit.
Love the Farm videos! Thanks Stan.
Where can I see an ego zero turn mower I live in Essexconnecticut.
Not to mention included in the run time, you had the headlights on the whole time. Probably led, but still consuming some of that battery power. Impressive machine.
Really is cuz I haven't broken it yet...
There are lights that are on when the mower is on. There are additional lights that are controllable for night mowing. No matter, the led's use so little power compared to the 4 motors that they are practically insignificant.
Good test, thanks. But did it smell good when you opened it up?
Course 🤤
