My dads name is Zane and I always play with it in middle spots. Florian Zane, Caspian Zane just sounds so dreamy!
Love those combos !! Just beautiful
The thumbnail 😂😂😂 my sons middle name is James because I legit couldn’t find anything I liked at the time 😂 so I’ll admit it’s a bit of a, ‘filler’ name 😂😂 xx
😂😂 I always wanted James as love it too!! Goes so well with everything!! Thanks for taking it in good humour :-)
Nice to see John on this list that is my newborn son’s name!!!!!!!
He is Theodore John and was born 12 days ago!!!!
John comes from my late grandfather who sadly died from Covid-19 last year so I was so happy to honour him!!!!!
Wonderful name ☺️
@@audrieking7109 Thanks, means a lot!!!
So sorry that you lost your grandparent but congratulations on having a gorgeous baby with a gorgeous name
Ahhh love that combination 😍😍 huge congrats xxxx
Such a beautiful name 😍.
I’m sorry for your loss, I’m sure your grandfather is watching over you and your little one.
Congratulations, over your newest addition, wishing y’all all the love and health possible.
My boys middle names are after Superman 😂😂 Kyle Clark and Andrew Kent
I've been in love with Clark and Kent because of Superman for a HOT minute lol, glad to know I'm not the only one :)
A little surprised my own name didn’t feature tbh but hey I guess it’s a really popular first name!
It's on part 2 on Wednesday! SJ x
Ah ok cool!
SJ I have to say I am loving your new podcast. Naomi is hilarious and you two giggling with each other is so nice to hear. You two together area hoot, I didn’t know how much I needed your podcast in my life until I heard it.
you look glowing in this video SJ! I love your hair ❤️
Hello guys - just had a note from the website saying the Baby Shower Download had a download glitch so resetting it and it will be back up tomorrow first thing UK TIME! sjstrum.co.uk Can't wait for you to try it!! SJ xxx
Thanks for the update! I'm so excited to check it out because I'm due in July and will be having a baby shower in May but I couldn't find the download on your website. Can't wait to see it!
@@marla5802 will be back up on the morning - sorry think the video was too high res so I’ve done a low res version and option for high res xxxx
we named our kitty Everest and we've gotten NOTHING but compliments about it! It suits him perfectly, and everyone has a visible "woah that's so cool" reaction when they find out his name. Also! I would suggest Winslow if you are looking for an alternative to William. It's got that sophisticated air like William, but it's much more unique! Special shout out to Micah, Crispin, and Zane!
So my 3 year old is Samuel James, and he’s taken to introducing himself to everyone as Hi I’m Sam James, it’s SO cute
SJ !!! Your hair is so gorgeous!!!
Just had to say, you’re looking gorgeous, SJ. You always do but just extra today. Love your hair wavy! 💕
I have have a grand-uncle named Everett and I think that that would be a lovely alternative to Edward as well as Everest.
In Finland, we pronounce our versions of Michael (Mikael) and Micah (Mika) like Mee-kayl and Mee-kuh. I believe it's almost the same in Swedish, so SJ your pronounciation isn't completely off. ☺️
My grandfather’s father was Lee and his mother made his middle name Leroy. I love it. 💕
Love these names!
i love ur videos so much!! x
SJ could you please do a makeup tutorial for this dreamy face of yours!! You are glowing 💕😍
I’ve recently had a baby boy, he’s now 4 weeks old and we’ve called him Pippin Timothy ☺️ we call him Pip as a nickname and Timothy is after my Grandpa. I have a feeling you had Pippin in one of your videos, I’ve watched so many that I now can’t find the list it was in! Your lists have been the best inspiration for baby names and even though I’ve named him, I still love watching your new videos 😁
I love your sons name! Great choice and not too unique. Lots of love xx
@@ezzbezz242 thank you! xx
That name combo is so amazing! Congrats on your little Pippin❤️
Your hair looks so beautiful!
I don’t know how popular that is but for Christopher if you still want Chris you could also always go for Christian
Yay you mentioned Amos! That's my son's name, hes 9 months now! I found his name on your channel on another video and loved it, it was one of 2 names that we both liked! 💝 So Thankyou
Lovely name!!
I don’t what it is about your content recently but I’ve been loving it! Obsessed with your videos and your podcast, you look stunning as always and thank you for providing such a relaxing distraction
Aww that's so lovely of you to say Alice - really appreciate all the support - I'm feeling so happy to get everything up and out that I've been dreaming up in Lockdown!
Okay, I'm going to try my hand at alternatives because I thought of a bunch that could also work!
Michael- Mitchell, same feeling, a little more unique
Christopher- Christof or Christian
Lee- Leo or Lewis
Edward- Howard or Edgar
Robert- Bertram
David- Davis, Davin, or even Day
Thomas- Tobias, Titus
William- Wilson, Winston
John- Jonah, Jones
James- also like Jones for this, Jamin or Jack. Jack is common but has that one-syllable strong vibe going for it.
Thanks for the list. So hard because if you are truly honoring someone their name always seems to fit best, doesn't it?
Another good alternative for Lee is Leonard!!
Another good alternative for William is Wilbur or Wilfred!!
And Edmund, Edgar for Edward!
I love Tavish as an alternative to Thomas. It's the Scottish variation of Thomas. There's also Daveth, which is the Cornish variation of David.
Sorry but I could never ever use Hopkins cause of Katie Hopkins 😂
😂😂 I forgot about her!!
Oh! Hopkins reminded me of Stranger Things, lol.
@@yagayagacluckcluck914 A mix of Hopper and Hawkins?
I think of Anthony Hopkins
Leif is lovely! I like the meaning of it and the soft sound. Reed is also very handsome.
It’s funny how names are said so differently in different accents.
Here (rural midwestern US), I’ve always heard Jacoby as “juh-KOE-bee” (although JACK-uh-bee is cute, too) and Amos is “AY-mus”.
Same. I wasn’t looking at the video when I heard her say it and I was like what a unique name then I looked and realized it’s my cousin’s just pronounced differently 😂
Yes!! I even googled how to pronounce it because I LOVE the way SJ pronounced it. So cute. It would go on my list 100%, but alas, I am in the states and it would be pronounced juh-kobi which is a fine name but not my style.
I'm australian and we also say Jah-kobi
Your son is Frederick David
Interestingly David Attenborough is a David Frederick!
a little off topic but SJ you look fab in this video!
You look so beautiful in this video!!!! 😍
A lot of people in my family are Johannes, it's my brother's second name and on my mother's side my grandfather's middle name is Johannes and my uncle's first name (shortened to Han). On my father's side both my uncle and my grandfather are named Johannes (shortened to Hans). And I'm pretty sure it goes back a few generations.
Interesting that these middle names reflect the first names of 30-40 years ago. Nice that people are using family names in the middle spot.
Hello from a female Travis! :) I had no idea it was an occupation name!
Ahh hello! Such a cool girl name 🥰🥰🥰
I like Edison and Edric as an alternate for Edward. Just gave that suggestion to a friend & she is going with it in place of the family traditional name.
My grandpa's name was Leif! I'm from Norway. It peaked in popularity around 1930, so definitely an older name, but I really like it and would love to see it come back!
Maybe Davis as an alternative for David? Tobias or Titus for Thomas, since they have similar structures. If you like the -bert in Robert, you could maybe do Albert as well!
Yes Albert or Gilbert
My neighbor has a cat named Gustopher and I always thought that was a great alternative to Christopher.
Zames in place of James is popular in northeast US. Also Séamus or Jem are 2 other forms I’m beginning to see often!
We chose “Iain” as the middle spot for our son, in place of John, which we felt didn’t flow well. Milo Iain ❤️
Yes great option! X
I love Amos. We had a canary called Amos - originally Amy, but it turned out that "she" was a boy. We had to separate "Amy" from our male canary, Arrow. You aren't supposed to keep two male canaries together, as they get territorial. My first ever budgie, when I was about two years old, was Rupert, another favourite name of mine that appears on this list. And my late father was Robert, too. He used Rob and Bob as short forms, although my favourite Robert nicknames are Robbie and Bert.
That sounds like what happened with us and our hamsters! We had named on of them Harriett, then found out that he was a male 😅 We could have changed his name to Harry, but I guess we didn't think of it as kids, so we kept him as Harriett 😅 And yes, we had to separate them as well because dwarf hamsters are also territorial
Great names, SJ! 🤍 But can we just take a moment for your hair 😍😍 Tutorial please? We need the secrets...
Edwin was my grandfathers middle name , a very old name and a beautiful one too. This would be one of my top choices for a first or second name for a baby boy :) xx
I agree, I love it xxx
I prefer Edgar and Edmund
My grandfathers were William and Willard. I had considered the names Wilson for a boy or Willa for a girl to honor them.
If your grandfather was Willard I think you should use Willard given it’s rarity
@@joshuadunbabin6050 We don't care for the name Willard.
@@diannamarks8232 fair enough
My grandpa was called Douglas and although I don’t care much for the name I’m still going to use it
It’s the other way round - Hopkins is derived from Robert
I LOVE Wilde. I wonder if I could get my husband into it 🤔 you should make a video on how to convince your other half to like your name choices 😂
I actually really love the name Robert
I’d be interesting to see if it keeps rising and breaks into the top 100 again
I love the combo Troy Robert 😍 Robert has a lot of nicknames too!
@@wailingapplecore7558 Troy Robert is great!!
It think it sounds really edgy with the 3 r sounds in there
There is such a wide range choice of nicknames for Robert as well which is great!!
You look so beautiful!!!
I’m Scottish and I hate the name Hamish haha
I live in Scotland and work in a kennel and there are SO many dogs here named Hamish😅
I'm 21 weeks and 2 days today
Seriously struggling for a first name! Baby boy is due in less than 2 weeks! His middle names are Richard Paul after both our dads who have passed away. Hubby doesn’t like any of the names I’ve suggested but can’t suggest anything else himself. If anyone has any suggestions I’d be super grateful! Our other children are Leon Andrew Brian and Amelia Lara xx
What is their surname?
Or if you don’t want to disclose that how many syllables does it have?
@@alfred6272 begins with an S, 2 syllables
@@karenann7083 ok that would lend itself well towards a 2 or 3 syllable first name cause I don’t know about you but I think that would sound best
Here are a few of my suggestions that I think would go well with your other kids’ names:
Dominic
Jasper
Harvey
Terence
Joseph
Lawrence
Duncan
Isaac
Arthur
If you are really struggling here are a few names that you can never go wrong with:
Thomas
Oliver
Benjamin
William
Samuel
Hope this helps!!!!
Matthew Richard Paul
Arthur Richard Paul
Jacob Richard Paul
Jack Richard Paul
Daniel Richard Paul
I have a Liam Travis named after his dad's twin named Travis. It really suits a middle spot!
My son has Matthew as a middle. I guess an alternative could be Matthias, or a sound-alike could be Andrew.
My Son is Theodore Titan x I wish we had used Wilde in there too as he is completely feral 😂 xx
omg I love that name. I've been trying to find a middle for Theodore for a while.
@@vampiregurl8u aw thank you! My mum actually suggested it. Theodore was our miracle ivf baby so Titan seemed to fit perfectly x
I have been busy with my baby girl number 3 and she is 8 weeks old. Nice video
Ahhh so so happy for you!!! SJ xxxxx
@@SJ_Strum thanks 😊
Unrelated but your hair looks gorgeous! What tool did you use? x
Great alternatives! I especially love Hopkins! Makes me think of John Hopkins. Here's some other ideas for these names:
Michael -> Michelangelo, Mickey,
Christopher -> Kristof, Christian, Noel
Lee -> Leo, Lowell, Lyle, Lane, Lilo, Leland (Lee means field): Forbes, Fielding, Blair
Edward -> Eduardo, Lalo, Edwards, Edison, Eden, Edgar, Eduarte, Edmund, Edwald, Eder, Edric, Willard, Ryker (also means rich)
Robert -> Robin, Herbert, Bertram, (means bright flame, so how about) Pyrrhus, Uriah
David -> Daivik, Davis, Davin, (means beloved, so how about) Jedidiah
Sorry I got nothing for Thomas lol.
William -> Wilson (means son of William), Wilbur, Wil, Willoughby, Willow, Winston, Wilford, Wilfred, Willis, Wilhelm, Willard, Wilkins, Wilmer
John -> Malone, Jonas, Johnson, (means God IS gracious so how about) Milan, Miles
James -> Jameson, Santiago, Jamie, Jim, Jamel, (means supplanter so how about) Jacob
Id also like to add alternatives for Alexander:
Xander
Sanders
Callyx
Oleander
Corriander
Anderson
Evander
Alexis
Alexi
Leander
Lysander
I'm pregnant with my first baby
11 days after my due date ❤️
Could you do a unique one-syllable middle names
I love the name Edwin I think it's adorable! Plus I always thought Jacoby was pronounced juh-koh-bee
I love Edwin too!!
Wish I'd bought that dress! My son is Phoenix!
A good alternative to Michael is also Malachi, which I’ve always thought was a really beautiful name😊
Leif is one of my all time favorites
How about Terence as an alternative to Thomas?
Yes and Theodore as well!! 😊😊
In Canada, Terence is much more common than Thomas! 😅 We have plenty of men and women nicknamed “Terry”. Maybe Taryn?
Davis is a great alternative for David, imo (Davis is my sons middle name 😊)
This camera angle makes me feel really tall
My sons name is Finley Scott. Finley was just the first name my husband I both LOVED and Scott is my husbands middle name. I always knew if we had a boy they would have Scott as the middle name. It goes with practically everything. My husband is Bobby Scott. Just Bobby, not Robert. So Finley Scott is a close enough to nod to it, without being a Junior.
That's so funny! My nephew is Finley Robert! Great name, I absolutely love Finley :)
What blush is that? Looks gorgeous xx
💛
We have a fish and chip shop in our village called ‘Crispin’s’ 😂
My family call crisps crispins as a joke 😂
From Hopkins, I got to Hobart as an alternative to Robert. And also Wilson instead of William. I have a William who is 21, we sometimes call him Wilson. I love it because, although I never call him Will, which he uses, Wilson says to me “Will, my son”
He first name is Prince
Micah was Dan’s Dad’s middle name and I’ve always liked it xx
Hi SJ, where's your top from? Xx
My grandfather’s name was Hazen, and though I never met him, he’s someone very close to my heart. Some of my cousins have used Hazen as a middle spot already, so I’ve debated using Hayes instead, or Hazel for a girl (though my grandfather Hazen had a sister named Hazel - why his parents thought that was a good idea with 8 kids, I’ll never know). I’ve even thought of using Hazel Grace, because Grace is another family name from one of my grandmothers, but then I worry that people will think I took the name from John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. And, my cousin, one of my best friends, named her daughter Aria Grace, so... ugh. It’s hard, coming up with alternatives. But I do like Hayes for a boy, so maybe that will be my sweet spot eventually.
I know someone who is named Robert because it was family tradition (he was the 3rd). But everybody calls him Riley. I’ll always remember because we both have Lee as the same middle name.
He middle name is Ronald Andre
Hi SJ. I’ve emailed you for some baby names help that you could possibly include in your podcast or just help me with anyways. I’m not sure if you have read it as I sent it about 2 weeks ago. I love your videos. Keep up the amazing work xxx
I'll check Maddy - we've put them all into our podcast list and record again this weekend!! So I'll email you if I don't have it xxx
I always think Micah is Mee-kuh because of the singer Mika who pronounces it like that!
My dad is kit, and I would do the opposite and use Christopher to honour him. However cruz has defo got me thinking!
Ah, my older brother was going to have Edward for his middle name, right up until he came
My fav alternative from this list is definitely Micah hadn't heard before hearing u say (in 1 prev video) :) (I live opposite a Michael, & David's in my dad + his dad's name)
Thomas to Travis could go to Tavis. I liked a boy in high school named Tavis and I'd never heard it before. You made me laugh with your Crispin crisps chat.
And for James I like Ames instead of Amos.
For Edward I think that Éamon works
I know a girl called Micah that is ‘Mecah’ like how you said it and that’s how I would think to say it.
My late-grandfather’s name was James, we went with Jameson. It’s his first name, but could still be a middle name.
Im pregnant with twins and there going to be named. Scarlett and Charlotte
@Baby Name Lane okay I'll check it out
Okay
My boys' middle names are Ezekiel and Davis. Strong Bible name and my maiden name.
My dad's name is Abraham :D I love the name and I heard there was a shorter version which was Abram which I adore as well
Oh wow great family name to pass on x
Abraham is biblical and in spanish Abraham is Abram..so Abram is the spanish way to say Abraham👍
They're both different Hebrew names but with a similar root... in the Bible, the person Abram (means exalted father) was given the new name Abraham (father of a multitude) by God... Abraham went on to become the first father of the Israelite people :)
We used a family member's full name for our first son (James Thomas), so if we have another boy I want to be a bit quirky with his middle spot. We both like Sam so right now I'm fixed on Samuel Jasper :)
Samuel Jasper is brilliant!!
My son in laws name is
Wild Cody Wilkins and he named one of his sons Wild Cooper
🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️ awesomely awesome cool names I really so love these and I got a lot of inspiration for my invented names for my characters in my book 🌟🌟🌟💕💕💕😎😎😎 keep up the awesomely awesome great work on the baby names lists, all the names are so awesomely awesome and inspiring 🌟😎💕🥰😍🌈😃🌺👍🏼❤️🌸🍀😀
I nanny for a boy who’s first name is Micah. He and the name are both insanely cute!
I’m five weeks pregnant and we’d chosen our names before we were even planning a family. Charlie Roy (both of my husband’ grandad’s names and Roy is my husband’s middle name) and Evelyn Jane (I love names beginning with E and Jane is my middle name)
Ooh I love Evelyn Jane!!!!!!
Would that be Charlie Roy or Charles Roy?
@@rachelpercival615 it would be just Charlie like my husband’s grandad. I think we knew we’d use that name before we even got engaged haha. My husband is that set on Charlie that if we end up only having girls and we decide we’re done having kids the last one will be Charlotte in tribute
He last name is hewitt
My mom is called Elizabeth but she didn’t like it (and my sister took both my grandma’s names) so my middle name is Elise and I actually love it!
Have you heard of the name Khuen? Pronounced Q-N. I believe it’s unranked and means daring/brave counsel! Thought it was an interesting find and hadn’t heard it on your channel yet.
What about combining multiple traditional boy names, for when you want to honor multiple members of the family? For example, Max and Michael?
For Thomas, it's not really a different name but I like the Scottish Gaelic version of it: Tàmhas. It seems to have a few different pronunciations - TAW-vus, TAH-vish, etc. - but I think I would just pronounce it Tamus, which is actually my dad's nickname (his real name is Thomas, he gets called Tommy by family and Tamus and Tam by friends). I wanted to have Thomas as a middle name for a future son, as a tribute to my dad and his dad, but now I've come across this video I'm thinking about changing it up with Tàmhas 😊
