We named our wee boy born last April Byron. We got a few raised eyebrows in the beginning but now we get lots of compliments on his name. Love Larkin from this list x
A name that I feel fits this category perfectly is Roscoe. Lots of history, woosdy nature meaning, and that -o sounding ending, I'm shocked this name isn't more popular. In the US I've heard Dante said more like dahn-tay rather than dan-tay, whereas Donte is more like dohn-tay. It is used more by Italian Americans but it's also used in Spanish speaking communities a fair amount as well and I've met Dantes who don't fall into these communities too. I love Ferdinand. 🤩
American teacher here. I have never met a white Dante, but have had about a half dozen black students with that name. It might be different in areas with higher Italian populations, but around Detroit it is mostly popular in the African American community. Italian names for boys and French names for girls are pretty common in my classroom (Lorenzo, Dominique etc.) although I feel like that trend may be somewhat passing. Now all of the girls have -iya names (Niya, Makiya etc.) and we are riding the -aiden wave of boys names (Jayden, Brayden, Caden). I am a high school teacher, so it takes a while for trends to get to us, but I think the "old people" named kids will hit soon. It has to be at least a decade since everyone started with Isabella and Olive and Henry right? And my school is super diverse (50% African American, 30% white and 20% Asian immigrants from Muslim countries) so we have a dozen different trends and influences going all at once.
I know a little Ferdinand! He’s a fun, rowdy and outdoorsy and fits the name well. He doesn’t go by any nickname. I called him “Ferdi” once but he put a quick stop to that 😅
Larken is super cute! Might be a good alternative to Lachlan or Leighton too. I'm a fan of the sound of Diggory. The connection to Cedric would make me too sad to use it myself.
I love the name Ferdinand! Someone far back in my family was named Ferdinand Atlanter. He was born on a ship sailing the Atlantic, so they named him after the journey and the ocean they crossed 🌊 I think it's the coolest story and Ferdinand will be a strong contender for me when I have children because of it!
When you started talkning about folk a name popped up in my head - Folke! Since your husband is Swedish maybe you know it? I’m gonna use that if hopefully I can get pregnant again, so thank you 😊
I think it actually could work. For some reason the different spelled ending doesn't look bad. 'Larkin Freeman' sounds nice when you say it. So for me anyways it's not off-putting. It's kind of poetic.
I feel like -in does rhyme, but -en doesn't. I also don't mind it, it's got a nice flow! Like, Martin Freeman's name also rhymes and I never even thought about it, just how nice and easy it is to say it! :) Obviously you gotta choose something that you love, but I would say don't let yourself be deterred from -in or -en ending names just 'cause they rhyme - if you love it and it feels right, it's perfect! :)
I recently added the name Fennec (like the fox) to my list and I think it would fit nicely on this list. Also Van! Gives me travels in a motor home vibe 😍
Other names I’d add (I just listed some strong-sounding names bc all the names you said gave me strong vibes): Bear Ever Xavier Theon Xavian Caspian Cove Atlin Leven Arkin (like Larkin but minus the L) Jodah/Jodiah Archer

We named our wee boy born last April Byron. We got a few raised eyebrows in the beginning but now we get lots of compliments on his name. Love Larkin from this list x
Where is your shirt from! It’s so cute!
Marlow a very cute spin on the feminine name Harlow 💜
SJ you’re so gorgeous inside and out! 🌷
i like Javor but i pronounced it when i read it like you would say J'adore in french.
Camera set up looking great!
I know this is off topic but, where did you get your shirt from? It's super cute!
It’s a dress from ASOS xxx
A name that I feel fits this category perfectly is Roscoe. Lots of history, woosdy nature meaning, and that -o sounding ending, I'm shocked this name isn't more popular.
In the US I've heard Dante said more like dahn-tay rather than dan-tay, whereas Donte is more like dohn-tay. It is used more by Italian Americans but it's also used in Spanish speaking communities a fair amount as well and I've met Dantes who don't fall into these communities too.
I love Ferdinand. 🤩
Laureate is a current favorite of mine, it's a little more out there, but I think it fits with the vibe of this list
I really like Ferdinand! it's one I always forget about because it's so rarely on lists but I do really love it.
Love your videos!! Where is your shirt from?
I know a little Ferdinand! He’s a fun, rowdy and outdoorsy and fits the name well. He doesn’t go by any nickname. I called him “Ferdi” once but he put a quick stop to that 😅
Due in 5 weeks and naming baby boy Ledger ❤️
Larken is super cute! Might be a good alternative to Lachlan or Leighton too.
I'm a fan of the sound of Diggory. The connection to Cedric would make me too sad to use it myself.
Please tell us how you do your hair!!!
I’m gonna use that if hopefully I can get pregnant again, so thank you 😊
Could you do a first and middle name pairs video?!? I have a first and middle names list and I would like to add to it!
I LOVE names with an -en or -in ending (Larkin, soren, Odin, etc) but our surname is Freeman and I don't like that it would rhyme. Thoughts?
I think it actually could work. For some reason the different spelled ending doesn't look bad. 'Larkin Freeman' sounds nice when you say it. So for me anyways it's not off-putting. It's kind of poetic.
I feel like -in does rhyme, but -en doesn't.
I also don't mind it, it's got a nice flow!
Like, Martin Freeman's name also rhymes and I never even thought about it, just how nice and easy it is to say it! :)
Obviously you gotta choose something that you love, but I would say don't let yourself be deterred from -in or -en ending names just 'cause they rhyme - if you love it and it feels right, it's perfect! :)
I'm having the same issue.. surname is Burton 😅
I think Soren Freeman sounds amazing! I have a Soren though so I'm a bit bias 🤣
I recently added the name Fennec (like the fox) to my list and I think it would fit nicely on this list. Also Van! Gives me travels in a motor home vibe 😍
Other names I’d add (I just listed some strong-sounding names bc all the names you said gave me strong vibes):
Bear
Ever
Xavier
Theon
Xavian
Caspian
Cove
Atlin
Leven
Arkin (like Larkin but minus the L)
Jodah/Jodiah
Archer
My son is Elden Archer
