SOLAR 42f is a unique experimental electro-music instrument, an analogue microtonal ambient drone machine. It will inspire you to find a new and spontaneous approach to composing music.
The instrument is oriented for live performances, creating film soundtracks, theatre soundtracks, atmospheric sounds, microtonal and background music. It is an improved version of the older SOLAR 50 model. The instrument was inspired by early electronic musical instruments of the 1920s and 1950s, notably Leo Theremin's «Harmonium» instrument, as well as science fiction film soundtracks.

I'm looking forward to getting this piece of gear later this year. The demo performance for this video demo covers a fair range of uses for it and shows off the expressive use of the pad and modulation knob well. The Bladerunner cover was a nice bit of icing on the cake, sonicly speaking, haha

Again, beautiful demo. The Bladerunner piece did it for me. 3:10 Now it’s time to watch Stalker for the first time and experience something new. Have to pick a color also, I’m liking the yellow, green or pink maybe. What goes well with an HD-01…
How am I so lucky to find a community which unions Tarkovsky and my favorite synth? It can't be a mere coincidence that these two have come together. And surely it isn't only because of Artemyev's pioneering work. This community is somehow sharing a wavelength; maybe the same one Artemyev was on.
You ever think, down the road of course, for an eventual version with midi support?
@@LAZ-org I didn't make midi on purpose. Maybe it's a mistake…
@@ELTAmusicI would really like to be able to use it as a desktop layered via MIDI with other analog and digital synths. And of course be able to use the panel actively at the same time...
@@ELTAmusic I personally love that it has no MIDI - it makes it more of an 'acoustic' instrument if that makes sense. Nobody would ask for MIDI on a cello.

Amazing. But can it do “traditional “ synth functions? Like hold down a key and play like a standard synth and are the envelopes fast enough for percussion sounds? Just curious
Yes, of course. It can also be a classical synthesiser.
2 of us have been playing with this for 2 days, it is an amazing drone synth for sure, but we really need more detailed instructions and tutorials, some parts just don't make sense.

ETA on shipping? Bought one through Perfect Circuit in July. They said 2025 sometime but i can't believe it would take that long.
