- Pink Floyd in Venice: A Concert for Europe, better known simply as the Pink Floyd concert in Venice, was the penultimate live concert of the British band Pink Floyd during their second European tour of the 1989 A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour.
Counted among the most extraordinary and controversial rock concerts ever held in Italy, the free concert was organised in Venice on a floating stage on 15 July 1989 on the occasion of the traditional Redeemer festival (festa del Redentore) at the presence of some 200,000 spectators positioned on the banks and boats of the St. Mark's basin. The concert was broadcast by RAI worldwide with an audience of about 100 million viewers.

I remember watching this on cable tv many years ago with my friend, it was great. One of the best filmed concerts out there. Sad that the band really is no more. Glad that this classic rock band was captured this well for history's sake.

Hanno visto la parte del 1988 del momentaneo loop of reason tour prima che attraversasse il mondo! Hanno detto che correre come l'inferno era il loro punto culminante di tutti i tempi per uno spettacolo di luci laser da concerto! They saw the 1988 portion of the momentary lapse of reason tour before it went across the globe! They said run like hell was their all time highlight for a concert laser light show! Just fantastic! I was so fortunate to have seen them in New England in 1987. I LOVED how the riff from Young Lust ends up in the ending for Learning to Fly...to think they did this on the water in Venice for Free? WOW. Thank you for posting!!!!

I was in Normandy, France as a foreign exchange student that summer of 1989. This concert was one day before my 17th birthday and I watched it live on tv in France…I didn’t see them live on tour until “The Division Bell” in 1994…
A masterpiece for all time!
The big guitar solo for On The Turning Away is hugely underappreciated.
Nothing Gilmour Does is under appreciated!

This is a legendary concert, something unforgettable. It was the last concert in Venice, the Mayor of Venice was nearly dying when he saw that crowd (he doesn't know who were Pink Floyd..blissful ignorance :)

Actually caused (minor) damage to some buildings. Even when they turned it down a notch. Floyd concerts were really loud.

I used to be a famous celebrity Singer-Songwriter and a composer of a Pakistani Band named Fringe Benefits back in 90s...and I remember listening to Pink Floyd, Pet shop Boys, Deep Forest, Enigma, Enya etc...I performed, "HEY YOU" by Pink Floyd at one of my concert and one of the die hard fan of Pink Floyd, from UK, came to me after the concert for an autograph and complimented that "I've never witnessed any LIVE performance of Pink Floyd's song better than yours."

I was fortunate enough to see the Wall tour in 1980 with all four members, but not for long because they literally had a wall built between us, the audience which looking back it was like Roger Waters was saying goodbye as a member of Pink Floyd. Nevertheless it was still an amazing experience! Then in 1988 I took my little brother to the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour because they were his favorite band and his first concert. He had no idea what he was in store for. That was the same show as this one, just in the USA.
I remember watching this concert on TV at age 15 and it completely blew my mind and changed my perspective on music thereafter... even though I had the privilege of seeing them live in Lisbon in 1994, for me this is the best Pink Floyd performance ever.

Io ci sono stato, non questo, ma 2 volte la prima nel 1988 a Roma nel tour A Momentay Lapse of Reason, e la seconda volta nel 1994 a Modena nel tour The Division Bell, ma la seconda volta e stato piu spettacolare, è il mio gruppo preferito, sono davvero meravigliosi

I don't know if this an official release, but it should be. I heard legends about this concert. The band had to jump thru so many government hoops to pull it off.🤔🤗🤗🤗
The problem was with the municipality of Venezia afterwards, the lack of concentration of people was a disaster, I was lucky enough to be there and I would be there again in spite of everything.
