My brother and I used to talk about Pink Floyd all the time, and then low and behold the band came to Sacramento, California in April 1988. I made sure and bought him a ticket. There were 27,000 fans at Hughes Stadium. At one point, during 'Comfortably Numb' there were so many people holding up their lighters, it drowned out the stage lights. I've never seen that before. The whole stadium sang along. It can't be put into words, but I've never felt so much Love in one place. I looked over at my brother, he reached out for my hand and gave me a nod as if to say, "we made it, little bro". He passed away in 2002, which makes this quite heartfelt.
Well, it is a thing among us( heroïne, cocaïne etc) and thats realy the essents of the whole song. Clean now fore many, many years, but lisstening this song, i got a trip back in my minde and its not easy.
People always say "wow, the final cut sucks" or "man, the endless river is bad" or even "the division bell is the worst album". I say none are the worst, they're all very good and have their own respective amazing qualities. Don't spend all your time dissecting and picking at the faults, just be glad you have it. It's beautiful music.
Well, I think that everybody has their own right to like or to dislike whatever he/she wants to, or not? I don't like this album, I came here to listen to it, but I don't like it. It is just my taste. I don't like Madonna, Frank Sinatra, Snoop dog...It doesn't mean that is bad music, it is only that everybody has differemt sensibilities. This album for me sounds like film music, like the background music of something else, I am just not into that, but it doesn't mean that it is bad music.
@@pluso nice comment, pluso. I hate,Rush, The Who, Foreigner and a few other, top notch groups. I love, Gary Numan, Sabbath, ACDC and everything that pinkfloyd has ever done, but by no means are the other groups lacking. Of course I like and dislike more groups than I put in this short list, but you get the point. Once again, nice point. Peace.
I really want to convey this message to the world and all Pink Floyd lovers. I was in the storm, I was in the wind, I was in the sun, I was in the rain.. I overcome all of the above and still my struggle is on going what I want to become in my life but one thing during the journey that never vanish or will ever vanish. That is the Pink Floyd songs. I found myself in this era of Floyd and everytime I break down and be in thoughtful what's gonna happen to my life.. I find God and Pink Floyd. Don't know if i ever able to meet David Gilmour but my love for this band is unconditional like mother love their children. Im not in any substances or in high mode while im typing these phrases but it's deep eternal feelings for Pink. Love you all and never lose hope in your life. Things will eventually come to you if you really utter from your soul.
May Peace Be Upon You.,.and May You Struggle NO MORE !! it is said and now it is done!!!!.,.peace and love Dear brother of the Light.,.shine on you crazy Diamond.,.shine on! Much Love here for you
Oh boy, I miss the dude. As we keep mesmerized by the Gilmour VS Waters pickle at the same time, we can`t get enough of them singing together (Run Like Hell, Not Now John, Young Lust, Grantcherster, Pigs, etc.), really amazing. But... and it`s a big but: Pink Floyd was already a great band with great definitive classics when most leads were Syd Barret and Rick Wright, my favorites are See Emily Play, Arnold Layne, Point me at the Sky, Lucifer Sam, Matilda Mother, Remember a Day, JugbandBlues. Also, all Rick's vocals on Obscured and Meddle are just iconic.
Grew up with Pink Floyd from their start. They will be sorely missed, especially with keyboard Artist Richard Wright gone. He was a Genius on keys, and their music helped me through some rough times, for that I'm grateful. There will NEVER be another group like PINK FLOYD !!!
the wall was my puberty, dark side my adolescence, shine on is my campfire, wish you were here is my nostagia. Endless River is just like: looking back upon my life ... how nice ...
Best Keyboard Player ever... He invented ambient music....and Psychedelic Music....as a keyboard player myself I Love to hear music from a true Keyboard Legend.... Much appreciated Listening...Sad for me this is the End...Thank You Pink Floyd
This will be forever one of my favourites from Pink Floyd. I was going by some ugly moments in my life but when I listened to this it changed me from the inside, I cried in the middle of the street because I was so overwhelmed with bad emotions and this album cleansed my soul for a moment. I don't care about the critics, this changed me.
All the critics of this album weren't true Pink Floyd fans it the problem. They wanted dark side of the moon 2.0. what we got was a true Pink Floyd fans wet dream - an hour and a half long journey with some of our favorite musicians exploring so many places and emotions all without a single word. This was the best album imo.
@@Vikernes-f9u lmao yes. Love Pink Floyd. Much like their albums flow as a piece together, so do their albums collectively as a collection. A true endless river in and of itself. A marvelous band we were blessed with.
I listen to this to relax. There has always been something about Pink Floyd's music that made me feel like it takes you out of this reality when you listen.
Yes you're right! especially the ecstatic Money & Time and the album Atom Heart Mother. If you like that quality -Kelly Joe Phelps album's Beggar's Oil, or Shine Eyed Mister Zen is like that. He was a virtuoso and could play his songs 12 different ways depending on how he felt on the night, what you hear on the album is how he decided to play it 3 seconds before it was recorded.
Some will understand this is a love letter between friends who can no longer play together sundered by death, crossed the river but the other is still on the shore, it is a beautiful reminder of what has been ,looking back over all that time ,whilst the river flows on endlessly to the ocean, just lie back, close your eyes and journey on into infinity's arms , beautiful souls Rick Wright and Syd Barrett, thank you for enriching my life ,I love you both, float on ❤️
Im a chinese listener of PF which I listen Pink Floyd's music everyday. This is the first maybe last band I can listen to forever.Their music always bring me to the a state which I indulge in and I cannot put it in word.I still feel that Pink Floyd's music is an existence that cannot be described in words.By the way,I have three albums of Pink Floyd vinyl records.
Absolutely - they play to people who enjoy their music, not to sell albums. This one of the reasons their shows and tours are outstanding and it shows in the smiles of the audience.
I've been listening to them for about 40 years now and turned my Spanish wife who doesn't speak English on to them and she loves them. It never gets old and will stand the test of time forever.
Who else finds the music of this album to be so peaceful I hope on the day I lay my head down for the last they will play this album for me as sleep my last
These musicians were pioneers of new age music long before it was recognized. They were deeply experimental and willing to explore new electronic territory during the 1960s and 70s. We are grateful to them for all they have given to the world since they created their magnificent albums. 🙏🎶💖🌎💎🌟
@@PretentioFilms Also an old favorite of mine, but floyd is more rooted in conventional (hate that word) rock while expanding into the more esoteric electronica in exiting ways. You could say they are pink grapefruit and tangerines....
@@plasticweapon I believe Tangerine Dream's ideas were longer lasting and more notable than Pink Floyd's. Progressive psychedelia pretty much came and went. Electronica only got bigger.
There are so many bands and musicians, particularly guitarists, that I love and from whom I always receive so much when I listen to their art...but at least thus far in this bumbling fiftysomething's life, only David Gilmour can manage to move me to tears in just a few notes. Something about his way of expressing himself on those strings; I cannot explain it, but I am forever grateful to him for it. And Rick Wright. Wish I had the words. What a special talent.
His guitar solos are very unique. I listen from baroque, classical music and jazz to Progressive Heavy Metal and consider David Gilmour one of my favorite guitarists.
Amen, Hes a Guitar God from my real childhood snagged my interest at 10 and 51 yrs later still hooked and mesmerized by Gilmour and this Bands ability to tell their journey thru your Heart & Soul w a journey & Adventure like No Other Band , Ever ! AMEN ! Agree 100 %
Im listening to this album for the first time and i was born in 85 but ive been a fan ever since because of my dad who absolutely loves pinkfloyd the first track literally made me tear up its so beautifully done thats one thing i love about Floyd they always seam to make master pieces only if Waters and Gilmore could just get along one last time
Been listening to the Floyd since the trippy era of Ummagumma circa 1970. They will always remain very unique and special to many people myself included and are an integral part to the soundtrack of our lives!
Ummagumma! My father ran into my bedroom, eyes really opened, asking "what's going on, what's this? I said "it's music dad". He was standing there, lost, for a while. A big while 😶
yes, agree, they are an intgral part of the soundtrack of our lives...as a very early Floyd fan, I was surprised when I found myself drifting away from them in the middle 70s, I had not expected that to happen, but it did...I changed, I suppose, I stopped doing psychs and listened to a lot of other music and found myself drifting from the Floyd...by The Wall I had stopped all together...still, I cherish and recognize their impact on myself and others
I was 11 years old when I first heard Pink Floyd at a friend´s house where my friend´s older brother played "The Wall". During the solo fo The Wall Pt. 2 I started to feel goosebumps. I felt as though I had heard this melody all my life in one of these dreams where you wake up but cannot remember what you dreamt but you know that something important and beautiful happened. Well, I was infected like some drug addict from that day on. I bought all albums, I saw them in Concert, and I think their music comes closest to what i feel in my soul. Everyone´s got a soul-music, something they can not only relate with but some sort of frequency which bursts right through the most infinintesimal parts of your body as though the music was made out of the same fabric which created the universe. That is Pink Floyd´s music... For me.
Here is the english translation of what Eugie Kozlianinova said "I listen to it and I get goosebumps. Great depth, freedom and flow of creativity in the music of Pink Floyd. I feel that behind every song there is a serious meaning, not just a set of beautiful sounds. In modern music I rarely see such things, unfortunately. I love it immensely!"
Another of my favorite groups since 1971. I saw Dark Side Of The Moon in concert in April 1975 in Denver Colorado while in the Air Force. One ounce of marijuana was legal. Sat nine rows from the stage. A model airplane went down from the ceiling on a guidewire and crashed into the stage. At intermission lights came on and the marijuana smoke was so thick you couldn't see the stage. I had an out of the body experience. My first Rock Concert. It was AWESOME!
One of the best bands I didn't get to see. However, I did see the Doobie Bros at the Air Force Academy and smoked a joint with my friends near the police in 76.
Pink Floyd!!
I am listening this beatuful, atmospheric album now in this moment-before I sleep. I love all PF albums, I started to listen them about 20 years ago. I am sorry about the conflict between RW and Gilmour because first time I heard Water's solo albums, liked them and then started to collect PF albums too. Endless River means me the rich and carismatic life of PF, just before one minute to go, when the sun going down. Sad but great, every minute of it plays to my heart. Perfect memory for/of PF.
❤❤❤ Pink Floyd. One of the best bands out there. I never get tired of listening to this band. David Gilmour will always be my all time favorite musiciand and lead vocalist. 🎉🎉
Eons ago I was stood outside a record music shop in a place called Burford staring through the window at an album cover with a cow on the cover, Pink Floyd’s Atom Heart Mother. I had no money but I so wanted that album. It opened up worlds in rock music in my mind. I’ve loved Pink Floyd ever since. One of the truly brilliantly innovative bands of my life.
@@dikshantxettri3625 it’s not that they hate Pink Floyd it’s that they hate this album which I can definitely see why. It does kinda feel like a cash grab after Wright’s death. And even without that, this is one of their weaker albums
This album to me doesn’t sound like a final word but more of a sad bittersweet goodbye looking back at the past. Like a collage of memories one takes when they go.
We are older now, I did windowpane and saw Floyd Do DSOM in 1973 in Madison changed my whole life and I never saw them again because it was the best thing ever
That is actually exactly what this album is! It was made as a somber tribute and goodbye to the late Richard Wright, a founding member of Floyd who passed in 2008. They took some of the old unused work from The Division Bell sessions, added some new work, and crafted it into this album. All as a final goodbye to Wright.
Here is the english translation of what Maicon Ferreira said "Listening to Pink Floyd provokes in me a mix of feelings, pleasure, emotion, nostalgia, joy and sadness...sadness for knowing that one day I will not be here anymore and therefore I will not be able to listen to these masterpieces...but while I live I will never stop feeling this mix of feelings..."
Who cares what anybody else thinks? So, in essence there’s no point in admitting I love this album. It’s no DSOTM, it’s not The Wall, Meddle, whatever. It’s Endless River and I think it’s wonderful music to listen to... not comparing it to anything else. Just listening....
I'm remember during my time that was the year 1975...i was in the high school that time I ist listen the PF Album.. The darkside of the moon..and I was so excited and so happy and lucky that I found my right music in my mind and my soul.. And I'm continue searching the other PF Album.. @@roeosmithbull4036 you’re right! Each album of theirs has a lot to offer. I like almost everything they created... sure: I like one song better than the other, but that’s no surprise. From beginning till end; it’s great music. And I will keep playing their music for as long as I live!!
i often wonder why people do so much comparing, for what? i have so vast and widely spread musical interests, if i should do a ranking i´d be lost completely - my motto is: there are as many ways to make and to enjoy music as there are humans... :-) thank you for your kind words, love and greetings from germany 🙋♂️
English translation I started listening and it was only on track 4 or 5 that I discovered that everything is without voice, the music sings itself, the reception goes by both consciousness and subconsciousness... Wonderful...
The complete Album is a journey in dreams. It is getting better from the beginning to its end. And every Song leads more and more to its final. For me TER is a perfect Album. IT is sooo good!!
I just had an anxiety attack and this album's atmosphere helped me to pull through and calm down. I will forever thank Pink Floyd and especially David Gilmour for that.
I did hear Floyd live in 1971 hear in the US. It was a monumental experience; esp given that I came from a moderate sized Indiana town where there were few rock concerts. In that sense, it really was quite special since mostly all we had were local bands. I think what is remarkable is the manner in which Floyd sustained their innovation through the decades. The music business is very cyclical and few bands, even if good, don't have longevity. I am just grateful that I was able to hear them live!!
I used to love Pink Floyd back in the early days then after Darkside of the Moon I turned off as I felt they were too commercial. Then 1.5 years ago I started playing guitar and my instructor taught me some Pink Floyd licks. I started listening again to the old vinyl and my appreciation started again. This album goes back to their roots and is amazing. (oh I was at their concert in Montreal June 1975) Still listening at 68!
I'll never understand the whole idea of rebelling against people because their commercial"screw all of your beautiful music you made a buck off of it therefore I won't like you anymore"
@@garysnow1475 basically by commercial I felt the level of their music somewhat suffered during a certain period. I believe you can see this happen with many bands, and then later they seem to find themselves again they go back to their roots. Maybe it is pressure from the record companies to make $$ who knows. Or maybe it is the drive to stay relevant to changing audiences. Or maybe it is just my musical interests changed.. this is all just a personal observation.
@@garysnow1475 No he's right, the band members have talked about it. As they (Roger) focused more on the vocals the instrumentals started to fall behind *slightly*, but the rest of the band pulled together. Notice how Dark Side didn't have any tracks that cracked 10 minutes. This is why I think the following two albums tried to make up for it with massive instrumentals before Roger sort of took over again and then left. Their biggest selling albums are objectively less technical and musically complex, the instrumentals are dumbed down on purpose This isn't unique to Pink Floyd either, the Grateful Dead had this happen too. I suspect corporate meddling.
@@NewLifeFromTheWayofTruth yer mate I remember when I was about 18 & silly. I got on the weed and watched the wall on dvd off my chops & thought WTF is this about. I had to watch it 3 times and then the last time when I was straight, I finally figured it out. I missed the last Floyd concert that came to Oz & was guttered. But as soon as I heard Waters was playing (Us & Them concert) in Sydney, I brought a ticket for me and my 20 year old daughter, who only ever heard me play Floyd and she wasn't into them. After the concert, we walked out and she looked at me and said, Dad I felt like i was on drugs tonight. Lol. And now has heaps of Floyd songs in her iphone. Im glad she followed her dads footsteps with appreciating the music & not following him for the love of weed.. I can honestly say now at 54, I still enjoy Floyd as much as i did in my 20's, only straight now instead. The us & them concert didn't disappoint. All I wish for now is for Gilmour to do a sydney concert or him and Waters to lower their pride and do a farewell concert for all us old Floyd lovers to appreciate one more time. Shame they all arn't still alive. Anyway Mate, I glad you enjoy it as much as me and greetings from a covid riddon Oz...

This album is so much more powerful than I ever suspected it of being! "Surfacing"...almost can't describe it... For me, it's a remembering of heartbreaking "farewells" FORCED by nothing but the insistence of time... Tears are almost guaranteed!!!
At the time of its release this album did not click with me. Since then I have ignored it subconsciously. Now I came across this video and gave it another chance. Boy am I glad I did. It seems I was not ready to appreciate this awesome work back then.
The Endless River.
I can't sing, I can't play, I'm paralysed. So I listen a lot to music. I use it up. I loved bob marley, deep purple, bod dylan, jefferson , supertramp, lou reed. But I can't listen anymore. Floyd is different, I avoid to listen to it for fear to use it up but it looks impossible. I can't use Pink Floyd up. I love it too much, it never tires me, never gets on my nerves like any onther song would do sooner or later. It takes me to other worlds, soothes me. I still remember the first time I listen to Time. I came from a college in the mountains, knew nothing about rock and modern life. I was in the school bus and got caught by that song. All I knew so far were mountainers songs. I said is that Music ???!!!! Thinking it was only the beginning of a crazy adventure. But I never heard again such a good song, now I'm 63 and still Listen to Time with the same pleasure as before. It is so for so many songs and music from the Floyd. There are the Floyd, then the rest. At least for me.
was only 12 when I saw the Floyd at Hyde park, also King crimson.I grew up with them ,took my son to the Pulse concert in1994 at Earls court and still I Listen as an old man on this trip.Thank you Floyd.
I first saw Floyd at the UFO Club in '67, Soft Machine too, I was 15. Saw them many times between that moment and the incredible UK musical summer of 1970 and their performance at Bath. I've never thought of them as the greatest or most iconic band, that emotion has always felt unimportant, irrelevant. What they have done is indelibly mark moments shared with loved people, friends, feeling as one with a hundred and fifty thousand people. Perhaps this is their true beauty, I think of someone and a Floyd tune is instantly there completing the memory.
I was born 1950, a youngster, not even preteen during this decade, but I had older cousins born right after WWII, this was their generation. Mine was the 60's. But I love this music because they listened to this.
The final stitches for any soul that loves this band. The Division bell and this album share this magical musical orgasm, directly to your heart. Thanks Master David.
It's good to have good memories especially with your brother a bit similar to myself my brother passed away 22 years ago today so I play a hour pink Floyd tribute .

I am a African American who loves pink Floyd's music dark side of the moon is my favorite album and brick in the wall is all so another favorite of mine
I aways knew the other famous Pink Floyd's songs then I've started to listen to the others album's and this one is definetly beautiful. The last song made me a mix of goosegumps and a little taste of eternity through smooth melody. Great job they left to us, people of the future, so grateful. Masterpiece!
I think Division Bell is rising in importance, and this... is one of their 2-3 best. I just love this sort of "esoteric" music (whatever that means). Time will bring everyone around. When the world has grown tired of shitty rap, this sort of music will rise up to take dominion.

This celebrates the feeing from High Hopes. An acknowledgement of the magnificence of what had gone before. Life is fleeting and the early bits are best (usually). The creative legacy of Pink Floyd is well captured in this, their last contribution. Thanks for your music!!
One of the best albums to work, study, or meditate to. Furthermore, listened to late at night on vinyl with a glass of gin really puts you into a frame of mind to ponder time and the hereafter.
@@Redguard677 well yes, also Guy Pratt and the girls, and everyone who has ever had a part to play in the Floyd sound.. But there was a unique bond between Richard and Dave, they were so in sync with each other musically, it is uncanny at times.

I've never seen the flat level horizontal Horizon, and worldwide foggy unnatural skies of today depicted with such a good, long, smooooth melody before. Causes me to contemplate ... I'm genuinely grateful to have enjoyed my younger life back when the skies were deep blue, the night skies were black, and the uncountable stars were brilliantly visible!

@Xylem Phloem Interesting. Have ya ever checked out a yt dude, Mike Morales, (Underground Weather report, or something like that)? It's fairly well explained, and thoroughly. I touch base there now & then.
I hear you, but different streaks for different freaks...and a lot of hip hop guys play instruments and emulate pristine production values such as this
My brother and I used to talk about Pink Floyd all the time, and then low and behold the band came to Sacramento, California in April 1988.

Well said! Appreciation goes much farther.
Sonhe, escute, cante...

These musicians were pioneers of new age music long before it was recognized. They were deeply experimental and willing to explore new electronic territory during the 1960s and 70s. We are grateful to them for all they have given to the world since they created their magnificent albums. 🙏🎶💖🌎💎🌟
Uhh, hello? Tangerine Dream?
@@PretentioFilms Also an old favorite of mine, but floyd is more rooted in conventional (hate that word) rock while expanding into the more esoteric electronica in exiting ways. You could say they are pink grapefruit and tangerines....
@@PretentioFilms what about them?

Who cares what anybody else thinks? So, in essence there’s no point in admitting I love this album. It’s no DSOTM, it’s not The Wall, Meddle, whatever. It’s Endless River and I think it’s wonderful music to listen to... not comparing it to anything else. Just listening....

An amazing breath of fresh air during this crazy moment in history!!
Exactly what I felt as I'm .......
Still in that meaningful speck of time.
Their biggest selling albums are objectively less technical and musically complex, the instrumentals are dumbed down on purpose
This isn't unique to Pink Floyd either, the Grateful Dead had this happen too. I suspect corporate meddling.
Close your eyes and imagine a world without Pink Floyd how different it would be. Strange ❤
Spending time with Floyd, always leaves me in a better place.
That's the crazy thing about Floyd you're not just spending time with their music you're spending time with God through their music

After the concert, we walked out and she looked at me and said,
Dad I felt like i was on drugs tonight.

This album reaches my soul every time
I first saw Floyd at the UFO Club in '67, Soft Machine too, I was 15.
This is a beautiful album. Love Pink Floyd.
I was born 1950, a youngster, not even preteen during this decade, but I had older cousins born right after WWII, this was their generation. Mine was the 60's. But I love this music because they listened to this.
