The vids with his friends should be watched in canon order, so I believe first is Game Stores, then Mysteries of Gaming. But he should do more solo Scott first, plenty of older stuff to work with.

1:30 The #1 Rule of watching a Scott the Woz video is to never interrupt Scott when he says "Hey y'all, Scott here..."
It's the catchphrase he's known most for. Violators of this sacred law shall be punished for their heresy!
2:44 If one of your viewers told me that one of the (MAYBE) 20 games you've played in your childhood was a 1976 arcade game called Sprint 2, I straight up wouldn't have believed them.
5:21 The D stands for Directional. So it's a Directional Pad.
5:30 That's called a Game and Watch, specifically the only model with dual screens and it played Donkey Kong.
10:16 dang, the Atari Jaguar controller was so bad, Scott didn't even bother showing it a second time.
10:30 YUP. The legendary story of Nintendo CREATING their own biggest competitor (Sony's Playstation) is a subject of many documentaries on RUclips.
11:55 Yes, Smash. The first Smash game was on the N64.
12:16 You're actually right. Most games on the N64 were 3D games that didn't use the D-pad at all, so holding the middle handle was correct. Nothing too difficult to understand.
14:06 FUN FACT: The reason the OG Xbox "Duke" Controller is so huge is because of Bigotry. No, really, I'm actually serious.
In 2000, a company named Mitsumi Electric created an advanced circuit board that was used in the Ps2's controller.
When Microsoft asked for the same advanced technology to be used for their Xbox's controller, the company Refused, because they were an American company trying to launch a console to compete with Japanese companies (Nintendo and Sony).
Of course, they didn't SAY that. They used a bunch of other flimsy excuses, but everyone can see through it.
Many documentaries exist on RUclips detailing how Japan not only hates Xbox, but outright sabotaged it. Even Microsoft's own japanese branch refused to promote it.
16:01 Yep, Gamestop makes controllers, and they were all bad.
19:16 You know the Wii U was a failure when someone can mistake the controller for a handheld.
19:44 The NFC is used for Amiibos. Remember those?
24:08 You know the Switch is underpowered when someone can mistake an Xbox One for being "newer"
Overrall, this was a great video. I'd definitely recommend "Game Titles" next.

@@ericb9252 yeah. For some reason, Screenwave Media doesn't put Kyle on a "whitelist", so I (or Kyle) have to email James personally every time a video gets an automatic copyright claim in order to get it lifted.
Not only is this a fairly annoying process, but it's unreliable because of James' busy schedule (filming videos, taking care of his family, etc).
Lifting Screenwave's automatic copyright claim can take anywhere from hours to weeks depending on when James reads the email and contacts them, which is bad because at least half of Kyle's views happen in the first day of upload, so taking even a single week to respond is effectively the same as never even lifting the claim at all.

The "D" in "D-Pad" stands for "Directional". This refers to the fact that the D-Pad chooses what direction your character goes or is facing. That's why it's called a "D-Pad".

The D in D-Pad stands for ‘Directional’, as it points towards 4-8 directions

The D in D-Pad stands for directional.
I have a pair of third party 2600 controllers, but never used them.
NES and it's original controller was my first non-educational console, possibly my first ever console (my memory is fuzzy on which I got first). I still have that console, and have modded it a bit as well.
5:30 Did you know that DS stands for Dual Screen? So it is basically the same form factor.
When my dad picked up our NES, he also picked up an NES Advantage. Still have that one as well.
6:38 No, it's because the game had a delay pausing and unpausing roughly equivalent to the time the Advantage pauses and unpauses.
I have an NES Max (you could consider it an early form of the modern thumb stick, but it doesn't self center), but I have never used it.
I have multiple 3 and 6 button Genesis controllers, both original and USB for the Genesis Minis.
Note that the NES Dogbone was released as a later iteration of the NES, a budget alternative to the SNES, so the Dogbone was basically a SNES style controller for the NES. I have a SNES.
I believe there was an iteration of the PS controller with dual thumb sticks between the original and the DualShock.
I have a bunch of N64 controllers, both original and third party. I have been meaning to pick up a newer one with a modern form factor, but haven't yet.
I have some original Saturn and Dreamcast controllers, but haven't used either yet.
I have some well loved PS2 and GameCube controllers.
I have several S style Xbox controllers, but have never owned a Duke....yet.
I have a ton of 360, One and Series X controllers.
I have some DualShock 3s, but haven't used them.
I believe the rubbery plastic for the Wii controller is to protect it. In conversation with an employee at one of the stores I go to, some of them can end up pretty nasty.
I believe I have a Wii Classic and Wii Classic Pro controllers. The NES and SNES Minis controllers use the same connector as them (as well as the Nunchuck). I have less than half hour hour playtime on my Wii and Wii U.
19:48 NFC is for reading Amiibos.
I prefer the Xbox controllers over the DualShock 4. Not sure why, but in extended game sessions, my hand muscles cramp up using the DualShock.
I am fine with the Series X share button if I want to quick take a screenshot of record a clip. It helps that it is out of the way. Unfortunately my primary Series X controller had one of the buttons die, and my only other one is a Xbox 20th Edition I want to keep in better condition, so one of my One controllers is my current primary.
22:18 That's a Series X controller. You can tell by the share button. The second one you held up is a One controller (yes I had to set the video to half speed so I could pause on a frame where I could get a clear shot of them. No I am not overly invested in my controller knowledge, why do you ask?)
The “ice in a cup” was the HD rumble. It's more than just a variable speed motor with an unbalanced weight on it. What the difference is, I couldn't tell you.
Since until last week Wednesday I didn't realize my Switch dock’s HDMI connection was not connected at the switch end, I have been exclusively playing my Switch in handheld mode. I find it perfectly comfortable. There are plastic frames that you can slide a pair of Joycons into to make them hold like a normal controller.
The PS5 and Series X/S released in November of 2020, so after this video.
Thanks for introducing me to Waz. I have always seen him in my recommendations, but never stopped to watch them. I might go down the rabbit hole of any other controller based videos he has done. There's a lot of weird third party stuff, particularly from the 80s and 90s. The channel My Life in Gaming did a great video about third party controllers a few years ago called Third Party Controllers - The Good, the Bad and the Stupid, as well as two videos looking at first party controllers, similar to this one, but more in depth.
My favorite controller is the One/Series X. It edges the 360 controller out because my 360 controllers aren't aging the greatest. The select button on my primary sticks a bit. Also looking at the two right now, I prefer the One’s wider triggers and shoulder buttons.
See you tomorrow for RE5. Don't forget to download Mercenaries first! After you beat the boss, it's that or NG+ to fill out the rest of the stream.

Least favorite are the Xbox ones, which I still like it’s just I play multiple consoles but Nintendo is the one I am most familiar with and the ABXY buttons are in a different layout which trips me up a lot.

Going between Switch and Xbox, it's the fact that the default confirms and cancel buttons are swapped that throws me. (On Xbox is at the bottom of the diamond, on Switch it's on the right). The GameCube, with its huge central A button, didn't have that confusion compared to its contemporaries (I didn't play Wii or Wii U until well after their prime).

@@LegendsForever206 I keep getting problems with drift with them lately. Otherwise yeah they’re pretty great, second favorite out of the big three consoles.

I love the Switch pro controller. It would be one of the best official console controllers if the triggers were analog instead of digital.

BTW, I saw that you're starting Dead Meat Kill Counts, so a word of caution. Do the recounts.
The original Friday the 13th KCs are outdated, so James re-did them years later with way mord information and better presentation. So when you eventually do Scream and Chucky Kill Counts, do the RECOUNTS, not the original uploads from years ago.
