So I store the Sun Dolphin upside down but I also keep her naked so there are no rod holders or anything poking up to squish. The Sun Dolphin fills the niche between kayak and jon boat. I have a 16ft aluminum boat that is great if anyone wants to wake up before dawn and go with me but that is never the case so it is basically my middle of the day family boat. The Sun Dolphin is my extremely easy to use just me fishing machine. It is cheap, quick with a 6hp on the back, can troll from the front and I swear I can sneak up on fish better with the plastic hull. Also I can literally just toss it in the grass by the boat launch while big bass boat guy blocks the ramp for 10 minutes getting his boat ready. My down sides are it doesn't do very well tracking in the wind which is one of my favorite times to fish and I am not a huge fan of standing in it if I don't really need to. I have fished jon boats most of my life and a paddle boat when I was really young so sitting and fishing is my comfort zone anyways. The other gripe is with the plastic double hull design I don't feel confident mounting much to it since it is screws into plastic or rivets so I just use the kayak milk crate. One issue I had with my last 1436 jon with a 9.9 4 stroke is that at 270lbs she rode really deep in the back, so if you are also chunky this might be something to consider.

Some very fair observations about the floor design and drainage issues. Surprisingly they would be very easy design change issues if the manufacturer listened to the end user.
Hopefully they do so and improve on the design.

Put a drain in the very back works great it’s only 110 that’s a light weight can fit in the back of my pick up you cant do that with your heavy boat.
I was going to add a drain before I sold it. It was an easy boat to transport
These boats are like cheap kayaks - they are serviceable as they are. However, they are like an empty canvas because they are very basic. This means it is up to the owner to intelligently and creatively modify their boat to overcome the deficiencies. The drain issue can be overcome with creativity, the flooring issue can be overcome, etc. I've seen many people modify kayaks on the cheap to make a powerful fishing platform, and I can say the same for the others. I also prefer an aluminum JON boat, but I have to go with what is more affordable, and I ask myself, "Can I overcome the weaknesses (improvise, adapt, and overcome)?"
I hear what you are saying but the drain was a flaw from the start at the design stage. I was going to put a drain through it and add floor panels but I moved on to aluminum Jon boats.

A boat is a boat. I had this boat decked out like a fully built aluminum boat and it did just fine.. I don't see what's not fair about it. The aluminum boat I fixed up wasn't worth 700 to begin with. The 1648 project boat isn't worth 700 either at the moment.
I just got one from dicks. Just store the boat upside down and you’re golden. This thing is a great toss in the pick up and go boat. I love mine. And can’t beat the price.
That works but it gets harder to do that when you have it all decked out like I did.

Is it pretty stable? Does it handle wake well from other boats?
It's not the most stable. I'd keep it on lakes and ponds etc.
Do you think sealing around the edges with silicone will help keep the water out of the hull?

just got a quest sportsman 12 jon boat, trying to figure out how to mount my boat cleats and anchor etc.
I used self tapping pole barn screws. As long as you don't strip the threads, it should hold good
