    From the Tampa bay region but have lived/fished Escambia/Destin as well. Currently living in NOVA (Fredericksburg VA) and you definitely helped on purchasing a prowler 10 for me and my son to fish out the Rappahannock and Potomac areas. Appreciate the videos and the effort you put into you channel, from one internet stranger to another, thank you!

      Thank you for the kind words! Hope you and your son enjoy the heck out of the prowler!

      Currently in Tampa and looking to throw one of these in the truck for fishing the ponds/lakes in land o lakes and the Hillsborough River. How's it holding up for you? I've found a couple for pretty cheap and wondering if they're worth it.

      It’s held up exceptionally well especially with the winter freeze here in NOVA. I’ve made a substantial number of modifications including side scan/ down imaging fish finder, Bimini top, live well and many more. I can tell you one of the best pieces of advice though was before I ever put it in the water when I got it home I used marine grade caulking along the top and bottom edge of the rubber seal holding the upper and lower shell together. I have a cover for it as it lives in my backyard when not fishing but any rain or moisture with just roll off the edge if the cover become dislodged instead of finding its way inside the shell.

    When you moved with your feet on the floor, you could see the floor flexing. That doesn’t help the feeling of stability. Our local Tractor Supply has them for $549 (checked this morning). I think I’m going to make a change because I need more speed. Sun Dolphin calls it a planing hull. That’s a huge advantage.

    • @GreysonRoberts
      @GreysonRoberts  7 месяцев назад +3

      Yes it does flex. People say adding a level floor helps a lot.

      The drainage can still be a problem due to the design of those ridges, there's NO gap between them so water can stay trapped between the ridges.

    Tractor Supply has it 30% off atm ($489) I got the manager to take off an additional 10% ($440) because it was sitting outside.

    Nice reviews on these small boats! I have not seen any of these boats in rough water or how they perform against the wake of other boats. My wife and I are older and very curious about the safety of these, especially the Jon boats.

    You should try a used 10’ or 12’ Livingston. They are very stable and run great in chop.

      Those look very cool. Do they still make them or are they only available on the second hand market?

    I'm new to fishing. Really interested in buying one of these. Your reviews are awesome. Can you give me your opinion on the accessories kit they have for this? Motor , chair, battery etc. Is it worth the additional 600 or should I buy separately? Thanks in advance

    What are the black pieces on the side on the outside of the boat?

    Would this or a pond prowler 10 work if I want to go out to the lake casually with my gf and very small dog? We don’t have a trailer but have a Subaru and roof rack if that’s an option

    • @GreysonRoberts
      @GreysonRoberts  7 месяцев назад +1

      The prowler is perfect for that. My wife and I took our small dog out once with plenty of room. She kept trying to jump overboard but we all fit🤣 as for the roof rack, I’d go with the pond prowler. People roof rack them all the time no problem. The Jon boat is definitely noticeably longer and would catch a lot more wind going down the highway.

    I’m sure no wood under the seats anymore. There’s a thin hard plastic layer under the seats. Screws will pull out after a while. I called K &L direct. Need to use clamp ons

    If you compare it to an aluminum Jon the size of this boat is really 12X36. the bottom is 36' wide and it's 12' long

    At my local tractor supply its on sale for around 500 should I purchase one from the store or just save for the pond prowler?

    • @GreysonRoberts
      @GreysonRoberts  7 месяцев назад

      How do you plan on fishing? The prowler is more comfortable and stable but it’s slow and rated for a smaller motor. The Jon boat has more space and can go much faster. The Pond Prowler is hard to beat if you can keep your gear to a minimum

    what drain plug does this boat use?

    • @GreysonRoberts
      @GreysonRoberts  4 месяца назад

      I don’t freaking know! Mine came without plugs and I bought 10 different kinds and nothing worked lol drove me NUTS! I had to get a replacement through sundolphins warranty. They screw in but no other kinds fit it right

  • @RLMUD

    The new ones do not have wood under the seats so you csnt drill into them. Need clamp ons

    • @GreysonRoberts

      Are you sure? They feel absolutely rock solid with zero give unlike everywhere else. Harder than foam

    No drainage in the compartments is a deal breaker.

      It’s a pretty big deal. Luckily haven’t had any issues but I do keep that pump on me for that dreaded day.

    id spend the extra 100 or even 200 to get the pond prowler 10

    • @GreysonRoberts

      It’s a great boat. I really do love mine. They’re just different enough for me to keep both. Pond Prowler 10 is a killer solo boat. The Jon boat is awesome for two people standing on the benches for flats fishing.
