Amazing, soon as the cops got there the boat decides to sink like a rock. Like it wanted to make a scene at the last minute 🤣. those guys are lucky that didn't happen further out at sea.
I have a CC with a similar open transom. He likely lost power, they dropped anchor from the bow which allowed waves over the stern. Perhaps they should have dropped anchor from the stern so the bow would take the waves or not drop the anchor. The positive of the open transom is that I can stuff the bow or take waves over the stern but as long as I have power, i kick up the bow and all the water rushes out the stern in seconds.
Small boats should come with emergency inflatable bags in the cabin to provide buoyancy. Maybe something similar externally at the stern to prevent the engines from going full under.
I'm no genius, but if a company made and add on flotation system that was able to be activated on the rails or through hull design when sinking, it would change the industry.
I know nothing about boats, but could the captain have turned the boat around to waves were coming to front of boat instead of back of boat until mechanical issue fixed or towed?
I'm curious to all the boat pros out there, is it harder at high tide, or low tide. I imagine this must have been low tide, with the water seeming to pour quite a ways out of the outlet. And then I imagine when you're at high tide you've got water more pouring into that inlet, a bit. And then the mix of that happening.
Outgoing tide (west current) with easterly winds is the perfect storm here at haulover. Current opposing wind easily doubles the size of the waves. It was 2’s out there today, but the current at the inlet rips them up to 4+ and makes them real steep.
Older boat with I’ll bet already waterlogged wooden stringers and transom and finally the weight with extra water in any under deck voids overcame the buoyancy. You could see what looked like chips and cracks on the keel and bottom that probably contributed to a totally waterlogged hull.
@@4exgold I'm talking about when two descend on a helpless boat at once, both trying their hardest to get the gig. I assume that, once they are hooked up, you pay whether you need them or not. I do give them kudos for helping, they're just too aggressive about it when competing..

Boat is branded "Ocean Master", yet it literally doesn't have a transom! Boats should have 3 sides, starboard, port, and transom. If your boat is missing one side, it is hard to keep the water on the outside of the boat. Missing one side of the boat, kills the boat, LoL. My boat has 3 full sides, to keep the water on the outside.
an ocean master is a hell of a boat. and an open transom is designed for heavy seas so it can self-bail but there is a limit. a cutout transom is even worse if you are taking on water... no way to get it out quickly. he could've gunned it wide open and headed in, but not if a motor was out. operator error.
Round 1 was scored a 10-8 round for Haulover. Haulover landed a few shots and then nearly submitted the boat with a Stockton Triangle Choke. The round ended before herb dean could call stoppage. Boat took a lot of damage.
My guess is leak or drain plug missing, there is water reaching floor level already at the beginning, salt water shorting the battery or something and engines shuts off. Back heavy due to water combined with low transom at the worst moment, or maybe it was at the best moment instead off sinking way off shore...

Amazing, soon as the cops got there the boat decides to sink like a rock. Like it wanted to make a scene at the last minute 🤣. those guys are lucky that didn't happen further out at sea.
What was the little rope in the front attached to? And why can't the guy in on the jet sky catch a strap?
Why did it take the water Po-po so long to arrive??
open transom into a seaway. never understood that design
Supposed to have a self bailing deck, but if hatches aren't secured, water gets down into the hull and it's tough to recover without engine power
its safer since it self bails. you dont want a cutout transom in big seas... no way to get the water out.
Gosh, this sucks. What a bummer for these people. Really wish we had some follow up on all these boats and what happened?
I love how in some of these videos people come together to help
Is this boat still on the bottom? Do you have vidio of its recovery
If you have an open transom make sure your deck is sealed and bilge pumps in great shape.
You need a Brain cell for that.
Lost or no drain plug
Blown out transom?
What made you think that? I thought it was { No Drain Plug }
I want to know how that last boat sank...... looked expensive
Can't operate a lifejacket or a tow line, let alone a sea-going vessel.
I wouldn't have anchored it in that situation. I think that greatly attributed to the boat sinking.
Looks pretty clearly like the motors are in REVERSE, right?
The drain plug was not installed ?
I'm no genius, but if a company made and add on flotation system that was able to be activated on the rails or through hull design when sinking, it would change the industry.
Does that hull not have any internal buoyancy?
Dude lost power and got swamped, his anchor sealed his fate.
Yes, was thinking the same. Better to have keet anchor ⚓ up, float out with current and get a tow. Cheaper than what went down.
Don’t drop anchor, let wave runner guy turn you into head sea at least buys you time..
Thanks for sharing this for awareness. I’ve heard stories about other bodies of water with this phenomenon in Arkansas and Mississippi.
It's amazing that the jet skier is trying to hold the strap while towing the boat.
I know nothing about boats, but could the captain have turned the boat around to waves were coming to front of boat instead of back of boat until mechanical issue fixed or towed?
Should have gotten on the radio to SeaTow immediately instead of trying to tow with the Jet ski.
Why does the water look green? Used to be a pretty blue.
Anchor sealed they fate
Where are the predatory tow boats on the first one?
predatory? that seems a bit harsh when no other boats want to (or are unable to) help tow it back.
@@4exgold I'm talking about when two descend on a helpless boat at once, both trying their hardest to get the gig. I assume that, once they are hooked up, you pay whether you need them or not. I do give them kudos for helping, they're just too aggressive about it when competing..
@crypto1701 OK i see what u mean. It's probably still cheaper in the long run if you get the boat towed back to safety rather than the hassle of it potentially getting more damaged or even sinking.
@@4exgold I agree.. I'm just used to seeing them get there a whole lot quicker than that.
More water on the inside than there was outside ?
I was out there today and In person it looks way more scary
Frage: wie tief ist denn die Fahrspur im "haulover"? 🤔
Round 1 was scored a 10-8 round for Haulover. Haulover landed a few shots and then nearly submitted the boat with a Stockton Triangle Choke. The round ended before herb dean could call stoppage. Boat took a lot of damage.
what vanquished Vanquish?
My guess is leak or drain plug missing, there is water reaching floor level already at the beginning, salt water shorting the battery or something and engines shuts off. Back heavy due to water combined with low transom at the worst moment, or maybe it was at the best moment instead off sinking way off shore...
They could have called for a tow right at the start and it would have been retrievable most likely. Cost?
Is the one guy just too cool to wear a PFD? This entire video gave me heartburn
Drainplug?
why did yall not get on the sea doo to get yall too shore
The dudes laying flamboyantly(no pun intended) on the board watching was funny af
Drain plug
100% my thought too
I kept a spare one on the boat
Looks like it, the oh no moment!
Nope. Drain plug was in. Issue was open deck hatch
It's now an official Virginia class submarine
Where is the boat towing company?
WAIT. FOR. IT.
Looked like that capsized boat was a twin out drive but only one drive was visible while it was being towed.
upturned boat being towed had a prop missing..my quest is water got in thru the prop shaft housing...
It's still floating/foundering. Get a line on it and tow it toward the beach!🤦♂️
did the transom break??
What a great place to put your boat in when you can’t make the payments anymore, and its on video😂
Drain plugs and bilge pumps can do some crazy stuff 😅
After looking at the video after so many minutes, why didn’t they start pulling the boat in from the beginning 🤷🏾♂️
A dual engine failure…probably ran out of gas. Wearing PFDsin Florida near coastal waters is illegal unless there’s an emergency, right?
^this guy gets it.
Failed to switch fuel switch on, no fuel for you.
I'm a pretty big fan of closed transoms.
