24 Things That Wild World Introduced That Are Still Around (Animal Crossing)

- 24 things that Wild World introduced to the Animal Crossing series (among the five main worldwide releases) that are still around today. Includes features, events, tools, and special characters. Animal Crossing: Wild World (ACWW) was released on Nintendo DS in 2005. However, my footage was recorded from the Virtual Console version of the game on Wii U.

Note: A few of these special characters only appear in New Horizons if you scan their amiibo, and some will appear in the Happy Home Paradise DLC. Even though they may require an extra purchase, they are still in the game. Saying otherwise would be like saying the GameCube game didn't have an island (or islanders) because they required an extra purchase of a GBA & link cable. As for Cornimer, he appears on Harv's Island in place of Tortimer in autumn.
Wild World vs. City Folk? While Wild World added more new features to the series than City Folk, it also removed more existing features. City Folk kept most of Wild World's new features, but also brought back a bunch from GameCube that were absent in ACWW. That included Halloween with Jack, the harvest festival with Franklin, Christmas Eve with Jingle, multi-level towns (cliffs), Chip, and Wisp.

Wild world will always be my favorite. There was less to do from ppls standards now, but it has a coziness that is inimitable. The music, the villager’s personalities, the way it was so unpretentious… idk. I feel sad that most ppl got introduced to AC through new horizons. The special feeling that the GameCube and ds version had can never be replicated
Took the words straight from my mouth, no other game has the same feel as Wild World. New Horizons just feels like a decorating sim, the new community is honestly quite toxic. I miss the old animal crossings, glad to still have the old games to play tho
Yep. Luckily I have a DSi, so I can just buy the game.
I don't dislike New Horizons, but I don't count it as a true Animal Crossing game. Perhaps for very young children. Babby's first games aren't inherently bad, but for an AC, it's a tragedy to its ancestors.

I'm not too proud of being introduced to AC through NH. It's not bad, but the old games, from what I've seen, seem more lively. So in a way, I do wish I was introduced to AC sooner.

Another bonus feature introduced in e+ that was added Worldwide in Wild World:
The ability to eavesdrop on villager conversations.
WW was the first AC game I owned. I think I’d argue it brought in the most significant changes for the series and this video confirms it for me!
Even if the graphics didn’t age well I have a soft spot for it.
I really like the variety of flowers and hybrids they added in wild world. Having all that color brightens up the town
I think the flowers in Wild World looked the best... until they start wilting rapidly in numbers after a day.
Still blows my mind Harret came from Wild world, always saw her on the card but never in game because you had to use internet and fully upgrade the the nook store to get her😒
8:50 I wish in NH though they added another coffee worker along with brewster. It would be cool to see him hire someone thats not a resident. (Maybe you could see your villagers working for him sort of like in tomodachi life)
New Leaf is my favourite but Wild World is still the best “Animal Crossing” game imo. Great dialogue with variety between rudeness and kindness, character backstories, blocky graphics and models (really like this) and lots of content!
i would just say that wild world is the best game in terms of Villager quality while new leaf still does everything else better :D

yessss i love how blocky the ww character models are i love the whole aesthetic of the game, new horizons is beautiful but it makes me sad when i see newer players put down the graphics of the old games. ww is the most aesthetically charming ac game to me
And in acnh we have no personality or cool events happening to the villagers and such :/
In Wild world you could also wave at villagers when you click at them from far away, I think this was also on City Folk, no idea on the other games.

in my opinion wild world/ city folk are so underrated and they’re amazing

The Message of the Day and Talking to Myself posts were really cool. They helped keep the message board active even if there were no events going on. Also, some of them are crazy as frick.

2:45 still in my top two hourly songs from any animal crossing game. i'm also sad that in all my years playing various iterations of animal crossing, i never once had katie show up in my town. my real name is katie and i love cats/kittens, so i've always thought she was so adorable.

Yeah, Katie only appears if you played online (or perhaps local multiplayer), so not everyone got to see her.
Same, I never met Katie either. I didn't even know she existed until I read about her online years later!
So much Nostalgia! Wild World has so much Charm and character!
Though flea market was great, at least the new update did bring back the ability to have villagers invite you over and you can buy something from them.
I wish they'd bring back Bright Nights...I loved that :)

I have Wild World on my 3DS, thanks to homebrew. Runs better than on my computer lol. Any tips? My first game was GC in 2014ish. Then it was Wild World in 2014-2015, than New Leaf for a short amount of time, Happy Home Designer was next, than City Folk breifly, than Pocet Camp was the first game I really remembered. Then New Horizons. Now that I have a 3DS, I have New Leaf and Wild World. I wanna get a Wii U so I can get City Folk and Splatoon 1.
I wish the features in WW that aren't still around, were still here. I've never experienced it for myself but some of the events seem really cool.

Ah the Roost. You know, I think its kinda funny how it was a store in the museum in Wild World & City Folk, became its own separate facility in New Leaf, only to be part of the museum again in New Horizons.
I mean, with how we can change our hair using a mirror, I guess there's no point to bring Shampoodle back in New Horizons.
You know what would've been fun to have in New Horizons? How about a Cornimer mask that we can craft?
OK, I think I should revisit Wild World one of these days. Seems like I've been playing New Horizons too much. Heck I need to check back on New Leaf, its been ages!

You have to upgrade the shop to Nookington's. Before you can unlock that upgrade, you'll need to have a player from another town (another DS) visit and shop at your store.

Only if you're playing the Virtual Console version on Wii U; it doesn't have that requirement.

Hey so I have a Wii U and I just downloaded Wild World with a digital code- how do I actually play it?? I cant figure it out lol
It should appear as a new icon on your Wii U menu once it's fully downloaded.

Katie, Cornimer and Lyle and Shrunk aren't in New Horizons if you want some of them you have to use an amiibo which is an extra not in the base game itself and cornimer doesnt exist at all
They are still in the game, even if some require an extra purchase of an amiibo (or the DLC). Saying they're not in the game is like saying that the GameCube game doesn't have islanders, just because you had to purchase a GBA and link cable to access them.
