Thanks for the help! The laptop had been off for one or two years and powered on with the bios password. I tried a few trick and nothing worked. Your video was detailed and I was able to fix it on the first attempt. My daughter now has her own laptop for school. Thank you!
I just want to thank you very much for the input on this. TO add additional information: I ended up putting just a little bit of solder on those points and used no RAM and beeped i let it sit for about 5 minutes, then added a RAM stick and booted again. It then showed the TOSHIBA LOGO and shuts off *Thats how you know it worked.
WORKED LIKED A CHARM, THANK YOU. I LOOKED UP EVERYTHING AND FOUND NOTHING UNTIL I HAPPEN TO COME ACROSS THIS VIDEO. I HAVE A TOSHIBA SATELLITE L355D-S7901 AND I REMOVED EVERYTHING LIKE YOU SAID PLACED SCREWDRIVER TURNED ON AND IT STARTED BOOTING AGAIN. DIDNT NEED TO DO THE STEPS WITH RAM.THANK YOU!
I've been building PCs for quite a few years, so I was familiar with most of the requirements. I've done quite a lot of repairs, including two laptops this week. Your video saved me some time rooting round on the motherboard of the Satellite Pro L300D-22E and I wasn't familiar with the RAM stick procedure either. Worked perfectly, but I think from some of the comments below, people have not been following the instructions properly - leaving in the HDD, moving RAM when it's still operating and some may have shorted other pins instead of the BIOS jumper. Shame.
Thank you very much. Had the password issue on my Aunt's computer didn't know how to fix it but had an idea it dealt with bios. Thanks for the quick tutorial, it now works like it used too..except for the bad cigarette smell.
Prior to watching this Video I had taken this laptop to Best Buy,,,,,,,the Geek Squad could not Reset it and Suggested purchasing a new one,,,,,Im glad I decided to search RUclips Thumbs up for this Video,,,,,,Im now back online !!!!
@Jeff. Ha! Best Buy Geek Squad. They are required to say "Can't be fixed, buy a new replacement from us". "We can't fix it, but we ARE highly trained to stab our customers in the back and in their bank account."
On 12 or 14 Satellite Pro A300 laptops we succeeded in unlocking all but about 3. One of those had a broken ribbon connector on the motherboard for the keyboard ribbon which might explain it (you could still use an external USB keyboard). It certainly didn't work first time on all of them, but here are some of the issues that may have a bearing. All of them are likely to vary according to the laptop model, and even the version of BIOS. On these laptops, the jumpers to be shorted were under the RAM sticks, so using a screwdriver was simply not possible as they wouldn't boot at all with no RAM. We used a push-button on a pair of flying leads and soldered the leads to the solder pads. This was so much easier than the screwdriver method, as you can never be sure the screwdriver blade is touching both pads. But you need a fine-tipped screwdriver and a steady hand. On these laptops, the pads had no XXX or other marking, but were distinctive triangular solder pads like no others. On some, they were partially or completely hidden by a label. Timing is critical. The following sequence generally worked (I'll refer to the push button connecting the solder pads as the reset button): 1. Press and hold the reset button. Wait a few seconds. 2. While still holding the reset button, press and hold the power button. Wait a few seconds. 3. While still holding the power button, release the reset button. Wait until you hear the BIOS access the CD drive (the CD light will flash) and wait about a second longer. 4. Release the power button. Having followed the above procedure, press F2 when the BIOS splash screen appears, in order to enter the BIOS set-up. All you have achieved so far is to gain a one-time entry into the BIOS - you haven't actually cleared the password. Go to the Security menu and set a null password in both the User and Admin password fields. (Navigate to the password fields and just press Enter in each, then Save.) On one of the ones that failed with the above procedure, I reset by holding the power button at set 3 until the laptop powered off. At the next reboot, F2 allowed me to enter the BIOS and clear the passwords. The procedure seems to vary according to whether it's the User or Admin password that's set. I have with me one of the ones that we failed to reset which appears to have a User password as you can neither enter the BIOS nor boot into Windows without being confronted with the password prompt. Removing the battery while you remove the RAM, solder the flying leads and put back the RAM is certainly a good idea, and may be critical to the procedure.
It's best to use little piece of aluminum foil and stick it with a tape to make sure those jumpers are connected together to be shorted. That is the biggest problem. Using flat head screwdriver will miss it. Once you are sure they are shorted, it will work in 10 sec or as soon as your laptop boots. No need to hold for five minutes or remove any of the ram. Thanks for the info about the xxx mark though. I finally got it. My problem was that screw driver or little piece of wire I use to short them was not working. I used the aluminum foil with both ram in and boom, it worked in 5 sec!
Thanks for this tip - I found this worked. I taped a small piece of foil to the jumpers, and also put some pressure on the foil with a screwdriver and its now booting Thanks a lot - cheers - Nick
Thank you very much for the demonstration! In my case the owner of the computer was working fine, restarted and he received a dialog box asking for Enter HDD/SSD Pass. If you hit F2 and try to access the bios same thing. It has password. The laptop is Toshiba Satellite C655d-s5529 I tried your method here but sadly nothing happened. What I noticed is in my case this computer made 2 large beeps to shot beeps, repeated one more time and that's it. silence and black screen. I kept holding the button and the bridge on the solder for 5 minutes When the first memory was added you could see how the blue screen asking for the pass changed in less than a second to a message asking to move the ram to another slot. I did that and same error message so I believe that this computer is not able to boot with only one chip installed. In one of many tries I even tried keeping both memory chips and doing the bridge without luck. I also tried entering bios without the HD since when booted just with the memory installed the computer tried to get a pxe connection. So I believe that if I change the hd or try to boot with a usb/cd I would be able to use the computer. I'm still receiving the error, so if anyone have an idea let me know!
the trick to this is 1. get a flat object and wrap it in tin foil 2. make sure you touch the 2 contact points with the screw driver wrapped in tin foil 3. power on the laptop with just the power adapter connected and with 1 ram stick module in. 4. before the laptop is turned on make contact with the screw driver and the 2 contact points on the mb. 5. as soon as the logo appears take your tool off the 2 contact points.(this is critical!!!!). the laptop will look like it reboot its self. if you don't get a reboot then you will never get the bios cracked. thats how you instantly know it works.
+david valens Worked very well! I used a paper clip. For some people, you have to remove the black protective sticker under the RAM before you can see the 2 contact points. Do what these instructions say instead. Much easier. Thanks again!
Nice job. I was able to find the jumper for the Toshiba L775D-S7206. If anyone needs it for that model its jrst2101 in the memory bay. Just use pencil lead to trace it in then use tape to remove the lead after.
Hi Brad! I just bought a satellite c55-c5241. I am now the second owner. The laptop cannot boot into bios and the enter password dialog box comes up after the toshiba splash screen. My first guess is around the CMOS battery area?
Thank you bro, took a few tries but my memory one stick of it had to be present for it to work and the XXX was in the ram compartment... Thanks for the awesome video
Worked!!!! 3rd try held till it auto shut down. look for the 8500 the s955-5373 not marked with xxx. so it sent my laptop to a black screen unable to post and mr into panic thinking i made a paperweight. i yanked the ram back out of one slot and it posted. praise the heavens but now only half ram0.. f2 skip setting time and into the bios it went supervisor password unregistered. to be safe i set my own then erased it. saved and shut down then restored the ram chip and booted... back to 100 percent... roller coaster of hell yeah
Hi thanks for the great video. I'm having the same issue with my toshiba satellite U505-S2002, can you tell me where the jumper pins are located? Thanks
Little confused... first I heard hold driver on the jumpers for 20 seconds, then 1-2 minutes... then 5 minutes (for the first "shorting" attempt) I'm going to attempt it right now... but in my quick test hold, it was pretty difficult to hold it on both jumpers for even 30 seconds. I'll reply here after.
Thank you! It worked great on my Toshiba c75d. It didn't even take that long.. about 10 seconds.. but you have to remember to do it with the memory as well. The toughest part everyone is finding the B500 contacts. Just look for them they are somewhere on the motherboard. Very small.
it worked on a toshiba satellite c855d s5320. left ram and battery in, used rubber handed tweezers, simple. thanks for the jumper info (b500 in the ram area).
THANK YOU! it WORKS for Toshiba satellite a300 s17 1-unplug power cable, 2-remove memory card(s) jumber is beneath the first memory slot, check this pic www.edugeek.net/members/sergdol-albums-electonic-picture8583-img-1590-n.JPG 3-put back the memory card,in the second slot so you can see the jumber 4-plug the power cable 5-push gently and hold a small flat head screwdriver to connect the 2 pins of jumber , 6-turn on laptop. 7- HOLD screwdriver in place 10-20 seconds, i didnt see the windows logo, just a black screen. 8-switch off laptop, with the power button 9-turn on and windows will boot normaly! ------if not works first time repeat steps 5 to 9
No I removed one but I don't think it mattered on mine as I realised I could still get to the solder blobs without removing any ram after I had done it.
Yes I used long nose pliers and turned the laptop on whilst touching them and it took about 10 seconds until the password box disappeared . Reboot the laptop and it then loads to windows.
Great Vid, Thanks mate!! I have the C850D and jump points were next to CMOS bat. JSTL 1201 (or ID number close to that. Compartment closed now and from my memory.. oops). I just shorted them while powered on.... oops again :) All good now. Cheers again
helped me, thanks. i didnt had xxx's just two contacts. I hold them with a screwdriver and started 3 times, it didnt even boot, after inst. the ram, and starting it was already booting. hahaha, i tried so hard. so easy. thx mate. srry for bad english. sitting hear at 1 am in germany with a american laptop, german layout, full american system...
Hello Brad, Thank you for sharing. we did finally got rid of the BIOS password. and the HDD password. We had to do it 2 times. Finally got into the boot menu. Now we have no bootable device. No Media file. Now for the next step,, any advice? Thanks again.. (we found the B500 soldering squares below the CMOS battery next to the disc drive component)
Hi, I have a Toshiba Tecra S5, I dont have XXX in the laptop, is there another PINS that need to be shortcircuited for this model ? Please share if know. Thanks.
It does not permanently fix the issue. There are two things that cause this issue: 1. A virus infects your system and gets into your CMOS. 2. Someone boots up into the BIOS and adds a BIOS password.
Hi Brad - great video. Almost worked got memory cards out and hard drive etc....but could not locate XXX B500 jumper pads. I have a Toshiba satallite Laptop C850-1MC so the inside looks different can you help me to where I will find the shorting jumpers B500 XXX for this model....please help. John, London, England.
That was scary. I just downloaded the Toshiba hardware setup utility. But it only deletes the user password not the master and it won't delete hard drive passwords, user or master.
Brad, I have same problem on a different model Toshiba (L875-S7332) that does not have B500 or a way to identify the 2 contact points. If you're willing to help, I can send photos. How would we connect?
Hello, I have this problem but I have a c, my PC is actually a Acer windows 10, and it first leads u to a screen with white lettering, then when u press F1 it leads u to a blue screen, my Facebook is: Ashenee AO, so if u need more details/or how it looks and MAYBE can help me then tyvm, we just factory reinstalled this PC to...and like u can see I make videos and I can't afford a new pc
I have followed your steps and it removed it... However when I powered up again it was right back . what do I do now. Now my laptop is powering off not allowing me to do anything
Does this permanently prevent the same error? What the heck makes it do that top start with? I spent a few hours on mine getting it all set up and the next day I was locked out. It was a S875-S7356. Thanks for any more info!
Supervisor password is done in the same way on all computers! This is not the right way to reset! There is no need to disassemble the computer to reset bios. Do not do this at home! The correct way I described it on my canal.
How about toshiba laptop CL45-C4332 iknow the bios password I accidentally put a bios password because. Im stuck on reseting Windows 10. My question is They still needed to remove bios password ? And fallow ur step
Have you ever removed the bios password from a Toshiba L875D-S7332? It has several jump points in the memory bay, but they are not labeled as B500 or XXX. I would appreciate any advice that you can offer. In my searching I have found other people looking for solutions to this problem, but so far no answers.
Hi. .I know the bios password but I'm trying to reset the laptop and can't because the bios password keeps coming up. .. How do I turn it off in order to reset it. .?Thxs for any info
Hi Brad, I'm trying to bypass BIOS password for a Compaq EVO n1050v. I'm getting to a point where I feel totally helpless. Tried removing the CMOS battery and replacing it, but I guess the BIOS password is kept on an IC. Do you have any advice?
Will this work on a Satellite L55? It only has one screw to open one box. I had a virus, it was working fine after finally fixing enough to reset to factory level. Than I saw the PASSWORD. Why would a virus, mine, a Trojan, do this?

Hi guys. I know this is an old video but I recently had to reset a Satellite A505-Sxxxx notebook and it took forever to locate the B500 jumper connection. Finally found it. i.imgur.com/aEzq6rL.jpg It's located on the other side of the DRAM modules. Hope it helps some people.
Need you guys help I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5513 and my hard drive is locked up each time I turn on the laptop it says Enter HDD/SSD Password. I tried to short the jumper B500 few time still no luck. any help ....

@Sean. Try to find some information on how to use your "caps lock" key. You need it.

Pads are coated with silicone, sometimes you have to clean them up or bridge solder with soldering iron.
Thank you very much for the demonstration!
In my case the owner of the computer was working fine, restarted and he received a dialog box asking for Enter HDD/SSD Pass. If you hit F2 and try to access the bios same thing. It has password.

BIOS chip needs changing
the trick to this is

if you don't get a reboot then you will never get the bios cracked. thats how you instantly know it works.
david valens Did the trick dude! Was for a friends laptop and worked like a charm.
+david valens Worked very well! I used a paper clip. For some people, you have to remove the black protective sticker under the RAM before you can see the 2 contact points. Do what these instructions say instead. Much easier. Thanks again!
That's why I posted my instructions. I thought it could help alot of people in the same situation
+david valens now its ask for my HDD/SDD password, which i don't even set before this .
well if you reset the bios should you not be able to go into the bios and reset the password?
Nice job. I was able to find the jumper for the Toshiba L775D-S7206. If anyone needs it for that model its jrst2101 in the memory bay. Just use pencil lead to trace it in then use tape to remove the lead after.
It was a little difficult but I finally managed to do it. I think I was not making good contact between the jumpers with the screwdriver. Thank you
“hold it for 20 seconds “ “ hold it for 5 min “
Hi Brad! I just bought a satellite c55-c5241. I am now the second owner. The laptop cannot boot into bios and the enter password dialog box comes up after the toshiba splash screen. My first guess is around the CMOS battery area?
You're a champ! It worked! After a few attempts, I finally got it right. Thank you very much!
Thank you bro, took a few tries but my memory one stick of it had to be present for it to work and the XXX was in the ram compartment... Thanks for the awesome video
Tried many things wish i found this guy first. Thanks so much, it worked :)
Thanks
Thanks for posting. Dizzying camera work, you could use an assistant!
Made 7 years ago soo
Little confused... first I heard hold driver on the jumpers for 20 seconds, then 1-2 minutes... then 5 minutes (for the first "shorting" attempt) I'm going to attempt it right now... but in my quick test hold, it was pretty difficult to hold it on both jumpers for even 30 seconds. I'll reply here after.
Harlen Linke how did this turn out
Accidie Designs unfortunately, it didnt. I ended up scraping the laptop and destroying the HD.
Thank you! It worked great on my Toshiba c75d. It didn't even take that long.. about 10 seconds.. but you have to remember to do it with the memory as well. The toughest part everyone is finding the B500 contacts. Just look for them they are somewhere on the motherboard. Very small.
Is it the same model? Some other models will not work I have found out.
I would try it and have the wait time be extended by another 15-30 seconds.
it worked on a toshiba satellite c855d s5320. left ram and battery in, used rubber handed tweezers, simple. thanks for the jumper info (b500 in the ram area).
Thank you for the allocation name (B500), it was otherwise not as obvious as having "XXX" etc. worked on a toshiba satellite C855-S5107.
Wow your video fixed my Toshiba laptop thank you
Your information is very helpful. And I have a U405-s2854, I couldn't find the contact under the memory slot. please help.
Great video , very helpful and i just did what u said and bam it works . thank you alot for your video . Real deal here peoples!
worked like magic... thanks Bro it worked perfectly well
I have the C655-S5132 (no D) and it does not have the XXX pad ......
Any other ideas?
Found the pad "B500" on the left side of the memory bay. Did the trick!
Steve Spence B500 works on the C55A5300 too. Great vid!
THANK YOU! it WORKS for Toshiba satellite a300 s17
1-unplug power cable,

4-plug the power cable
5-push gently and hold a small flat head screwdriver to connect the 2 pins of jumber ,
6-turn on laptop.
7- HOLD screwdriver in place 10-20 seconds,
i didnt see the windows logo, just a black screen.

------if not works first time repeat steps 5 to 9
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! Just saved my dad's laptop and now I'm the hero! (highfive)
Worked great on my L300, thanks for the video.
DId you do it on both ram cards ?
No I removed one but I don't think it mattered on mine as I realised I could still get to the solder blobs without removing any ram after I had done it.
so you just connected the two XX ? For how long have you connected them ?
Yes I used long nose pliers and turned the laptop on whilst touching them and it took about 10 seconds until the password box disappeared . Reboot the laptop and it then loads to windows.
Thanks all good . It worked .
can you do the same for Dell Inspirion m731r? don't see any jumpers like the Toshiba? All help is appreciated
Great Vid, Thanks mate!! I have the C850D and jump points were next to CMOS bat. JSTL 1201 (or ID number close to that. Compartment closed now and from my memory.. oops). I just shorted them while powered on.... oops again :) All good now. Cheers again
Thank you you are a genius. Thumb up👍👍👍
helped me, thanks. i didnt had xxx's just two contacts. I hold them with a screwdriver and started 3 times, it didnt even boot, after inst. the ram, and starting it was already booting. hahaha, i tried so hard. so easy. thx mate. srry for bad english. sitting hear at 1 am in germany with a american laptop, german layout, full american system...
Awesomeeeee!!! woks with toshiba satellite L505D thanks!!!!
Wondeful - Thank you mate, it worked like a charm ...!!!
Totally worked for me... Thanks
i got the two rounds of beeping. now when i power up, i see the green light and nothing on the screen.
☺😉😆😡😡😢😢😕😧😧😆😢
Your ram chip is not in all the way!!! Make sure it's not upside down or check if you see gold pins the make so you can't see them! Good Luck!😀
Hi, I have a Toshiba Tecra S5, I dont have XXX in the laptop, is there another PINS that need to be shortcircuited for this model ? Please share if know. Thanks.
The two pins at B500.
Nisala Kalupahana Thank you for the instruction. I got the password already thus I don't have to do it.
Bro. your video is great and it helps alot, but what about Toshiba that don't have this particular XXX pad?
Its is also called B500 if not XXX.
Thank you for posting this. Will it work though with a U945-Toshiba Satellite?
I did this on My Toshiba X500 11Q and it worded fine by just shorting out the contacts for 40 sec without having to plug in the power!
Toshiba laptops with floppy drives (internal or not) can easily be cleared of bios password. I did that in mine a few years ago. Make a search.
I need help. I got bios password on toshiba satellite L50-A
Thanks. But the solution is not perfect for a problem. I had tried too many time, fund no result
No. Don't ever take off the jumper until the screen flashes off after the logo displayed. Have tried it for my Toshiba satellite L630.
THank yo8u it works for me. Thanks again
It does not permanently fix the issue. There are two things that cause this issue:
1. A virus infects your system and gets into your CMOS.
2. Someone boots up into the BIOS and adds a BIOS password.
the bios and hdd password wud b reset to 0000 (four zeros) for some toshibas

That was scary. I just downloaded the Toshiba hardware setup utility. But it only deletes the user password not the master and it won't delete hard drive passwords, user or master.

Brad how about a Toshiba Satellite P755D-S7112 do you have any idea on the locations of the jumpers or labels for them

Does it wipe out everything that you had on your computer before you removed the bios password?
Did you find out?
How do you bypass it without making a key disk or messing up the internals :) or any backdoor passwords ?
When doing this, do you only use one stick of RAM in both slots or do you use a stick of RAM for both slots? Plz help! Thank you!!!
just look for anything that looks like that. some models have different locations. enjoy!

Have you ever removed the bios password from a Toshiba L875D-S7332? It has several jump points in the memory bay, but they are not labeled as B500 or XXX. I would appreciate any advice that you can offer. In my searching I have found other people looking for solutions to this problem, but so far no answers.
