    I am excited to try this feature, but I wish they would show you how many people have already joined the class! I have more confidence in writing (and very little confidence in speaking) so the thought of being in a class all by myself gives me sooooo much anxiety lol

    I'm just an A1 student and have only been a Babbel member for one week. I feel overwhelmed after I get pass the greetings. I've had to do some lessons more than once because it's like I missed something sometimes.

      It's totally okay to take it slow! There's no right or wrong way to do it, as long as you enjoy it. Take those lessons as many times as you need to :)

    Do they ever have specials for Babbel Live like they do for the regular (non-live) app subscription?

    • @MultilingualMastery
      @MultilingualMastery  7 месяцев назад +1

      Unfortunately no. At this point they're pretty much giving away the app (it's free with Live membership), so Live is full price

  • @alexhanson7689

    I do really like this as a concept and in a world where currently the only way of learning for many is remotely ..... I have only just discovered this and the price plans seem very inflexible and expensive! I clearly missed out on the free trial from the time of recording. It's not great that you can only commit to a set number of levels in a monthly period (5,10,20) and even though these are discounted as your commitment to lesson numbers increases it still seems overpriced. Here in the UK they range from £17 - £11 per lesson / hour. Given that I'd probably only be wanting to commit to the 5 lesson option ... that is really quite expensive. I have done language courses through night classes at university and studied with Alliance Française and both were considerably cheaper options. I might give these a go out of curiosity but the content and teaching quality will have to be amazing or the price plan will have to change for it to become a longterm consideration. It's a shame because I do really like the option of booking lessons at my own convenience rather than being tied to a timetable.

    I think it's a waste of time, honestly:
    - talking live about grammar doesn't give you any advantage or learning effect. It's not rocket science, you can learn that from a book, but most polyglots never learn grammar.
    - being in a group of 6 means that your time is basically only 10 minutes and even if this was 100% speaking time, it's really not worth it.
    - Live classes should be designed for speaking because that's the thing you CAN'T do on your own. But 10 minutes of speaking is not enough.
    - I think apps where you speak with random strangers who want to learn your language, are much more effective.

    • @MultilingualMastery
      @MultilingualMastery  2 года назад +3

      If that's your experience, sure. Many language learners enjoy those things and find a lot of value in them.

      For me, I prefer taking private lessons when I'm at B2, cuz there'll be much more oral practice time. And being an upper intermediate allows me to find cheap private lessons on iTalki. Those for beginners are much more expensive. For A2-B1, I prefer group classes cuz they're much cheaper and at that level I don't feel like speaking too much. 10 minutes a class don't sound bad to me at all. I don't know about Babbel but the Lingoda classes are more about practice than feeding you grammar and vocabulary. Plus you could learn something from your classmates too.
