A tip for translating the comments: Download the extension "Google Dictionary" and Google will give you the definition for any word that you double click on. If it's in a different language, it translates it! And if you highlight a phrase and click on the "Google Dictionary" icon in your toolbar, it will translate the whole phrase! I love it
I received an ad for Lingopie, was about to sign up although the third result for 'lingopie' is your blog post slating it lol. You are right that this looks way better and is free! :)
amazing! I've been wanting a tool exactly like LLN for ages. A fansub site I was on for a while had something more basic - you could enable two sub languages at once. This blows that away. It generates pinyin for Chinese characters automatically, highlights based on word-frequency lists, and even changes your left and right buttons to page from subtitle to subtitle instead of 10 seconds at a time....so powerful. I'm floored. Thanks for posting this.
This is awesome! Thank you. I've been watching my shows in Spanish on Netflix and very clumsily translating on my ipad or looking up words from the subtitles. This is a life changing!
The RUclips extension will be an awesome tool for my language learning, thank you, Jamie! I just found your channel and by coincidence, I am learning Dutch as well! Great job!
I keep getting ads on facebook for random language learning apps. I clicked the first review for one of them which led me to this video. It's currently 3 in the morning and I'm glad I got pulled into this rabbit hole :)
I’m also a polyglot. I was surfing on internet and ended up here. Great video!! Thanks for sharing it!! Best regards from Brazil 🇧🇷 Professor X here. Stay safe
The Google Translate extension is very handy for translating RUclips comments. Thanks for the video! I should have known to search for an extension like this, but I didn't think of it.
Hey, I love your channel! Would you still advocate starting out with target language subtitles (as opposed to english subtitles) when learning a language with a non phonetic writing system? (Eg Mandarin or Cantonese) and if not, how can I bridge that gap between unknown characters and having an extensive understanding of what's being said while I'm watching?
My guess is that if you don't have at least a reasonable level of familiarity with a different writing system, those subtitles aren't going to do a whole lot. It's the same with any language - if you can't understand the subtitles at all, you'll basically be reading gibberish until you do. That's not to say you can't enjoy videos or movies and get used to the feel of the language, but if you can't get a general idea of the subtitles, you're kind of SOL with understanding them. So, I would say to either start learning to read it first, focus on listening, or just enjoy the media :)
Everyone and their mother has access to Netflix and RUclips!! What a 1st world, privileged thing to say😬🤣 Thanks for the information though, very helpful👍🏻👍🏻
Lol, me watching Spanish shows with Spanish captions to fry my brain into submission (estoy mirando programas de televisión en español con subtítulos en español para freír mi cerebro en hasta la sumisión).
I know that extension but I don't know if it's safe to subscribe on it. it has a tool very useful, but I need to pay for it if I want to use it. I like your channel, I hope you increase your subscribers in a future.
I don't see any reason why there should be issues using these extensions. They're totally free and safe - I personally use them with no problem. Thanks for watching!
Nevermind. Found it under settings. Must enable English (human) as the translation language and it works. This is so cool! Thank you for taking the time to make this very helpful video!
I found putting the following in will make Spanishdict.com work as a user dictionary. www.spanishdict.com/translate/WORD Basically the plugin will replace "WORD" with the target word and pop out a screen with the results for the target word from Spanishdict.com.
@@MultilingualMastery yes, that's an efficient, easy and fast fix. But I prefer the nerdy one with too seperate plugins that do the same thing only with 4 hours of research and 5 different manual updates so it works until the next update ;) Thanks for your video, it's been exactly what I was searching for! :)
There is too much info in this video making it too long. If you want thousands or even millions of subscribers shorter is better, especially with so much technical information. That said, the information was well presented. Furthermore you seem smart, energetic, personable. You are also photogenic. These qualities will serve you well going forward.

Same here lol
same! thank you very much @Crashed Culture. Really thinking about FluentU, can you refer people?

@@MultilingualMastery Hahaha I'm also here after *almost* buying LingoPie but read your article.

This ability to access shows located in either Netlfix or RUclips to learn/listen in another language is so exciting, thank you!

"Don't judge me" so priceless. Love the video. Thank you.
This is great! I installed and have been experimenting with LLY today. This should be a nice supplemental activity to Duolingo. Thanks!
Great to hear!

There are so few languages in netflix. They need to add more languages for the audio and text.
How to i find dub with the same subtitles

Fair! Though also fair, anybody who's watching this video obviously has access to RUclips 😂

“Fry my brain into submission” 😂😂
how do you get the right pane with the transcript to open?
Can this work just on your phone? Am I able to download this extension on chrome on my phone and utilize it when I watch Netflix on my phone ?
If you Google it there seems to be ways to use Chrome extensions on mobile, otherwise you'll have to stick to a computer
I can't find language learning with netflix.
Huh I'm not familiar with that one, thanks for the suggestion!
Which online dictionary do u recommend? :)
Check out my video walking through the most popular ones
So can I do this on your firestick or does it be on the computer
Probably a computer, it's a Chrome extension

Is there any extension for prime video?
Not that I'm aware
I'd love if you closed captioned your yt videos
Thanks for the feedback! I love having captions, it just takes time. I'll see what I can do :)
I got the RUclips one to work on my computer but not on my phone... any tips?
Check out my video on Lingotube :)
