Beautiful cars with beautiful sounding engines. That sound is pure American 🇺🇸. The Ecoboost doesn’t sound nearly as good as the V8 but it’s an absolutely gorgeous car still!
2:43 That car is actually the Ford MK IV. It possesses an aluminum honeycomb chassis, which replaced the previous car's steel monocoque one. The profile of the car was characterized by its long, low body that curved from the center section to the rear end. The side air intakes utilized NACA ducts for less drag. The car was subjected to intense wind tunnel testing, and as a result, the Mark IV was one of the most aerodynamically proficient vehicles in the world. Although the MK IV's engine was carried over from the MK II, its power was increased to 523 HP. The chassis was also updated. The result was a race car with an improved top speed of 215.6 mph (346.9 km/h) and better overall stability than its predecessor. In 1967, the MK IV won the 12 Hours of Sebring and claimed the checkered flag at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, beating its rival, Ferrari, by five laps. This victory marked the last time the Ford works team participated at Le Mans. The main reason for its departure was the adoption of a new rule in 1968 that restricted maximum displacement, which seemed directly aimed at the Ford GT because, simply put, the car was too fast for the competition.
It's just simply amazing how the 64 Ford GT40 (and the forthcoming ones that complete that decade, MK I - IV) look like 50 years ahead of it's time just in design and paint alone, to say it's a fucking beautiful car it's merely an understatement, the Ford GT40/GT...it's the GOAT!!!
What is your favorite Ford GT? :)
All of them!
The ones with the V8s.. sorry but even with 600hp a V6 still doesn't sound good to me when compared to a V8.
Those early Ford GT40s had one of the most feral sounds I’ve ever heard. It reminds me a lot of the 2015 Suzuki MotoGP bike.
Nascar based engine.
