Most lite duty diesels aren’t worth rebuilding anyway as the cost of labor and machine work cost almost as much as buying a replacement engine.
I think your buddy and many others will justify engine and major repairs with how the prices are on new trucks . Great video 👍

I'm at the ford superduty plant in Louisville as I'm watching this. There is a new truck in the lift here to get a motor swap. It will take 2 guys 4 hours to swap a new 6.7 here!!! Lol..... luv ya's from Kentucky!!!!

Former chevy tech/current heavy duty tech. I drive Ford’s and dodges. Love my dodges more because their easier to work on, chevys also. But Ford’s do ride and look great.
Yeah inline engines work space is soooo much better than Chevy's and Ford's. I like all the brands though. Everything has problems.

The oil take up tube in the oil pan needs a check valve in it to prevent oil draining from the block as it sets over night. These motors take 8 seconds ever time you shut it down to get oil to the cam, turbo and the crank sets above the oil level in the pan. These motors do this.

Just went through this exact thing on my 2014 F350 Platty. Bought it used less than a year ago and poor maintenance bit me. My CP4 let loose and sent shrapnel through injectors which took out valves, pushrods, lifters and the bearings. But, for me it was cheaper and quicker to go the long block route. So I did some upgrading and saved money. Did the DCR conversion as well as the KC turbo retrofit kit. As he stated in the beginning, it’s cheaper than replacing the truck. Funny enough, the mechanic that did my engine is named Zac s as well. I’m almost to a 1,000 miles on this thing and then it’s time to run.

in my experience i use a come along with the hoist to give you the ability to tilt the motor as you install it
I just bought a 08 6.4 because of Zach’s knowledge of fords if a mechanic like him likes them then he’s onto something and I wanna be on that boat. That and I love newer ford diesels. Nothing beats them. Yes my profile pic is a Chevy I sold it a long time ago lol 😂 💯

Motor came directly from Ford. No clue who remanufactures them. 2 year unlimited mile warranty so I’m not complaining.

The only thing i can think is next time you work on a lifted truck you ll need to put stock wheels on so you have clearance frame to cab.

Not going to break into the old motor. Taking it back to Ford tomorrow, it’s their problem now, not mine. Way less work involved that way.

Aside from all the plastic crap under the hood that should be some sort of metal... (may I preface this by saying my dad had to use my mother's gas car for about a month because he had to let my niece use his truck to haul her horse trailer to/from horse races before she had saved up enough to buy her own 4x4 truck... he forgot to use diesel instead of gasoline...) The biggest failure point of a 6.7 powerstroke is the compacted graphite iron block... Can't safely bore the cylinders without MAJOR risk of chipping a wall...... my dad's 2014 had EVERY rocker and lifter broken but some how still ran well enough to make it to a shop JUST TO HAVE A NEW MOTOR PUT IN BECAUSE ITS TOO MUCH OF A RISK TO OVER BORE AND SLEEVE THE PISTONS!!! WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THAT?!?! Planned obsolescence, that's what! ...I miss the 90's.

REALLY odd that a diesel only lasted 190k. Wonder if it was a lack of maintenance or just all around abuse. Usually diesels are barely broken in by 200k. Really great to see yall back together!
My diesel mechanic says 200k on these diesels is now high miles and he wouldn't buy one over 100k pretty much
@@MrButterz48 what a depressing shock, whats going on with quality of engine's.... I guess thats how manufacturers stay wealthy. I have a gas 3.7 dodge at 212k and luckily as of yet no issues

@@MrButterz48First I've heard of that. Seeing lots of the early 6.7 fords between 200K and 450K, even a couple nearing or exceeding a million miles with a common weak point being the turbos. My 2014 F350 has similar mileage at 196,9xx.
