    I was in that audience! The gig was recorded at Granada Studios, Manchester, UK, as a double header with Juicy Lucy. All Right Now was riding high in the UK charts at the time and fifty odd years later still sounds fresh and relevant. The audience came to hear the band and not watch them through the back of a mobile phone!

    Concerts are so much different today. Back in the 70s, when we we to see a band, we litterally went to See the band. We didn't go to watch people act crazy or listen to them sing. We had respect one another. What happened at the Astroworld Festival is the polar opposite, people not giving a crap about anyone except themselves. Those days are gone. Great reaction

    The singer paul rodgers was the lead vocalist of numerous bands , is considered the best rock vocalist of all time. He was in the bands Free, Bad Company, The Firm, and The Law. He has also performed as a solo artist, and collaborated with the remaining active members of Queen

    This is a TV Programme made by the BBC. They had to remain seated so the Cameras could record the performance. The Drummer grew hair and became Animal in the Muppets.

    Paul Kossoff (Free guitarist) his unhappiness following the break up of Free and his drug addictions contributed to a drastic decline in his health. Kossoff died on a flight from Los Angeles to New York on 19 March 1976 age 25 from a pulmonary embolism after a blood clot in his leg moved to his lung, while touring America with Back Street Crawler. His body was returned to England and cremated at Golders Green Crematorium in North West London. His epitaph in the Summerhouse there reads: "All right now"

    It was the norm back then to quietly listen to the music. Usually the audience was sitting instead of standing. That was the etiquette. Later they had the audience standing and jumping around thereby making them part of the show.

    Remember this was in a tv studio- back then kids were told to shut up and sit down! Also- you must realize we were witnessing the birth of classic rock! A lot of us played instruments and even had our own bands- so we were paying close attention to learn the song. No Internet- we would pick tunes off of records!

    Paul Rodgers still performs today and still just belts it out at 70 like he did when he was 20.
    He also sang in the Bad Company, The Firm and replaced Freddie Mercury in Queen for a while. He has an album called muddy Waters blues but you should check out. Is Paul Rodgers with a bunch of great blues guitarists including Buddy Guy.

    Guys, back in the 70's nobody in the UK produced live music of this quality live, apart from the top 10 bands, theyd have been suprised and actually listening, Inever heard a bum note from any free members. Let me tell you, if youd have been sat there, YOU WOULD HAVE FELT THE POWER !!! : ) Cheers !

    You can definitely tell that's a British or European concert lol. the people just sitting there quietly like they're watching a play. In the U.S. they'd be jumping around actin a fool, consuming mass amounts of beer among billowing clouds of weed smoke, throwing up on each other and trying to get up on the stage. LMAO!

  • @stevegibbons8941
    @stevegibbons8941 6 месяцев назад

    Free were all kids at the time, all under the age 0f 23.Theyre all top drawer, they smoked a bit of feeble weed back then in the UK, They made a few albums, in a few weeks, but essentially they were a live blues band, The Bass player, ANDY FRASER, was about 15yrs old, when they first began, they sessioned in pubs, he wasnt old enough to drink, you find me ANYBODY THAT GOOD TODAY, and I'll find you a Unicorn : )

      Yes i saw the clips of how in control they were at woodstock or when The Beatles played live, this studio audience was probably more used to 60s pop and they didn't what to make of this edgier kind of Rock

    I know this is about a year old now, but I have this whole show on DVD and I think it was a tv show in England and I think they were not encouraged to get up dance. I think they probably had to sit relatively still. As for more songs from Free, I recommend Wishing Well or Fire and Water which are probably two of their best known songs aside from All Right Now. Check our some of Bad Company which had Free's singer and drummer and also some of Paul Rodgers (singer) solo work.

Time to get back to them😁, Many great starting points, but the full 20 minute set at Live Aid should be your next stop.Just sit back and let it run. We never tire of it.

    I believe that this clip was filmed for a BBC TV show in 1970. It was probably mimed as many such a shows were, but the band could actually reproduce their sound on stage and live, extremely faithfully, losing none of the power and excitement they brought!
    All Right Now is in my opinion, pure rock music like no other, even after all these years since I first heard them play it in the north of England!

    The reason for the audience not jumping about was that this was recorded for TV. The size of the cameras, connected to cables and assistants helping move the bulky cameras around meant you couldn't have an audience that was too energetic.
