    This is what happened to me. Unfortunately more than once. Several surgeries later, the retina became too damaged to restore; this was my left eye; my right eye was damaged at birth. As a result, I'm now totally blind. This was 32 years ago. However, I moved on, I'm working full time and have been in a relationship for 18 years. I'm hoping retina transplants can be performed at some point.

      @t.t.r.j.7477 3 года назад +10

      This is very true and he is not exaggerating. Don’t confuse a retinal detachment with a retinal tear or break. Huge difference. A break or a tear has high probability to progress to a detachment if left untreated. A retinal detachment that extends centrally to rip the macula off…well that’s a whole different ballgame…even if vision restored it’s more likely to have some distortion.

    • @mshk0625
      @mshk0625 2 года назад +4

      If someone experiences flashes of lights, floaters or curtains in your view, you must be evaluated by a trained ophthalmologist or retina specialist. It takes an experienced surgeon to know the difference between a stable detachment and an emergent situation. False reassurance can lead to permanent blindness. Be safe and take care of yourself.

    Fully 94% of vitrectomies are without post-op complication. You come on here and tell everything that can possibly go wrong, but make it sound like those outcomes are commonplace.

    • @lindahughes9207

      @Majid Abbacy Due to eye not getting enough blood supply the eye will die and will start to shrink and look gross. Also real risk that when the eye dies it can cause a infection that can lead to the brain.

      I’m no ophthalmologist, so 100% take this with a grain of salt, but both my eyes are pretty bad, so when my right retina reattached, the doctor made an appointment to have my left retina strengthened.

    I'm currently sitting in an eye doctor's office with slight detachment. I went to this awful Thomas eye where their awful doctor's didn't catch it and do what they were supposed to do. I first saw a Dr.Stephens who was supposed to perform a laser procedure to clean up my lense. At the last minute and after deadening my eye with numbing drops he refused and terminated my care. I then had to drive way north to their other location and see Dr.Mcclusky. Mclusky saw the holes in my eye and said she wanted to "watch them". I followed her with her 3 months later I think and I was not told by Mcclusky the holes can lead to retina detachment. I stopped going because last time I went I waited over an hour past my appointment and their incompetent staff wouldn't tell me how much longer and what was the hold up. Long story short Thomas eye sucks and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

      @@kamrankhan-lj1ng the first location with Dr.Stephens is located in Lithonia, GA and the location with Dr.McClusky is located in Sandy Springs, GA I think. Look on their website and it'll tell you. But I'm telling you to avoid this awful company in general. Had I avoided them my eyes wouldn't be in the shape they are now.
