@@MrGreendragon11Same. Somewhere in the middle of the 28' span I was just saying "What? _What?_" to my screen in disbelief and then it just kept going.
On July 10th 2022, Bob Jungels won his first career stage on the Tour de France. He's now 29 and recovered from necessary surgery due to endofibrosis, a narrowing of the arteries, which almost ended his career. Bobs are still doing Bob things.
"Like most Americans he dosent quite understand how far that is When someone tells him the distance in feet and inches He is no closer to understanding" Is my favorite line in this whole thing
As someone who grew up with metric, 9 metres might just be impossible without wind assistance. I understand it's never been done, to this day. Bob's jump taking the record all the way to 8.9 made my jaw hit the floor.
I am, by no means, a sports guy. But I won't lie, watching those measures scroll past the world record, past Bob's original 28' goal, and to continue scroll further and beyond; I shed real tears in utter awe of that insane accomplishment.
In HS the band stayed at the old Olympic Village in Mexico City, and me and Chuck went and found the actual long jump pit where it happened. Goose bumps.

Oh good, I’m not the only one. Jon Bois helps me bear the cross of cynicism and despair by tempering it with indefatigable optimism and faith in humanity. Because of Jon Bois, life is worth living.
Bob update: After years of injuries and overcoming arterial endofibrosis in both legs, Bob Jungels just won a stage of the Tour de France by going solo for 60 km. The era of Bobs is not over yet.
As of 2023 I think of the ten only Bob Bryan has officially retired. Other people in the comments have pointed out a couple Jon may have missed so I think we are still above 10
I think that was the one I watched just after the first part of Bob, about ten days ago. Suckered me into most of the rest of the channel (though I found that I only really enjoy Chart Party).
@@theunwelcome As a sportswriter who tries very hard not to do this, it's quite difficult to hype up a team that is playing terribly. My go-to move in that case is hoping that they played ever worse the season before (or even just earlier in the season) and point to some kind of improvement. If they are playing even worse than before, God help them, because the best I can do for them then is give stats, sit back and shut my mouth.
@@Mythikron Good call, "Al" is probably even slightly better than "Ed" in terms of directional changes and line length used in writing cursive. (And way better in print because the "l" is one straight line).
I would honestly expect a change, even a small one, much more quickly. After all, all you need is a Robert playing sports or just getting into sports to watch this to decide they want to be called Bob.
Seriously. This seems like a situation where the NBA should have to be like "alright you got us" and then make a rule about it AFTER his triple double counted... And I thought just the NFL hated fun......
Theres a reason bob got second billing in all the tony hawk games he was in Its cause the skaters typically appeared in alphabetical order, but we can imagine its because hes legendary
I am still absolutely floored by how a simple scroll over about 17 inches of tape measure that takes only 41 seconds can be the most jaw-dropping experience I have ever had.
@@BlessedWithLuck I can only imagine what Jon could do with a larger budget and some staff. I love SB Nation, way more than ESPN actually but there is no denying that ESPN still has more resources to offer, not to mention a wider audience.
When did ESPN jump the shark? I was watching the WCF and after the game ended, some show called 'SVP' followed. All I can say is that I wanted to throw my TV out of the window. ESPN is rubbish.
"It's.. rare to be able to measure a player's value in this way. We have a strong sample of games both with and without Sanders. I wish we didn't." Everyone has their favorite line, and they're all correct. THIS line gets me every single time.
This quote hurts. Injuries are one of, if not the most difficult part of any sport. As a hockey fan, I am no stranger to injuries taking out players, but unlike with sanders, usually they are able to finish their careers. It pains me to hear that Sanders career was cut short. He could have revolutionized even more so the defensive part of football had he been able to finish. Hats of for him even being able to make it as a smaller player in a role dominated by bigger players. Now, at least he will be immortalized for what he did.
It's such a profoundly sad line. I was aware of Bob Sanders, but I didn't know all the twists and turns of his all-too-brief story. He was robbed of an all-time career, and we were robbed of seeing it.
It's the magic of Jon Bois. Whether a bat-less ball player, the curse of Cleveland, or an argument over the length of a week, any story is a good story if Jon tells it
hockeyfights.com This is your alternative. I don't know why Jon didn't use this as his source in the first place. It's better, and has been around for just as long.
An update on the final 10 Bobs, 5 years later: 1. Bob Ajisafe is 38 and has not fought since 2019, but does not seem to have officially retired. 2 years ago he was said to be contemplating a change in weight class. 2. Bob McHugh is 32, playing in the sixth tier of Scottish football. 3. Bob Straetman is only 26 but plays in the fourth tier of Belgian football. 4. Bob Gilder is 73 and has not golfed professionally this decade. 5. Bob Sowards is 55 and placed 28th in a PGA Qualifying Tournament in December 2023, falling short of the top 5 qualifying positions. 6. Bob Tway is 65 and has not golfed since 2019. He was noncommittal in an interview that year about whether he was planning to continue golfing professionally or retire. 7. Bob Estes is 58 and still going strong, he placed 9th in a tournament in the PGA Champions circuit just last week. 8. Bob Bryan retired in 2020. 9. Bob Evans is 52 and an active promoter for an independent wrestling circuit, he last entered the ring in 2022 but may do so again. 10. Bob Jungels is only 31 and still cycling in the UCI World Tour, the highest level of competition in the sport. In all, I would argue that while 6 could be considered active: McHugh, Straetman, Sowards, Estes, Evans, and Jungels, only Estes and Jungels are playing at a high level rather than languishing in obscure competitions. But that doesn't matter, I hope they all continue their careers and carry the torch for as long as they can.
@@RobertJWSo yeah, Bob Bertemes is one Jon seemingly missed as he’s been active for a while and years before this video came out Which is fine, I too would probably miss a Luxembourgian shot putter But yeah he has announced his retirement this year
The incredible thing is, as much as he hyped Beamon's jump (and the reveal and music are just perfect), it's still possibly undersold. Breaking a world record by that relative amount in a pure measure of athleticism is both unprecedented and unmatched. There is probably no other single effort in sports that approaches what Beamon did. And adding his personal and social circumstances, it's hard to imagine a feat of that level (and importance) ever happening again.
Roy Beddington If you adjust for the running surface of Jesse Owens compared to modern day rubberized track, Owens would have been only a single stride behind Usain Bolt at his fastest. They are both extremely fast. Bolt is UNDENIABLY the fastest man in history. But he is not as far advanced as Beamon was amongst his competition. Bob Beamon in a single jump represents a titanic leap (sic) in athleticism. It’s like if Muhammad Ali went back in time 100 years to fight amateur middleweight boxers in a bar league. It’s like 1968 Bob Gibson pitching to middle schoolers. It’s like the Miracle on Ice except everyone on America’s team is Wayne Gretzky. Beamon didn’t just change the long jump, but our understanding of the capabilities of our species. No one in thousands of years could even have dreamed of traveling that distance under their own power horizontally. It beggars belief
I never thought I could get sad about a name. Not a person... a name. Yet here I am 90+ minutes later bawling on the inside about the demise of a name. What are you, Jon Bois?
A man; a man on a mission. Some say he was brought to us by the Football Gods, others say he was paid by the MMA mafias. Truly a mysterious man, if I say so myself.
The Bob Beamon story had me actually crying by the end of it. I cannot begin to imagine the strife, loneliness, and inner conflict he must of felt as he competed and trained for that record. Nor can I imagine what it must of been like to shatter such a record as he did. Stories like this are why I adore sports writing. I cant say I would of really cared about this record at all or it’s Progression if I just saw it in a table. It would be a “wow this guy broke it by ALOT” but that’s about all I would get from a chart. This bring the human side to sports to the forefront. Thanks for making this Jon … now to explain to my coworkers that I’m just fine and crying about sports and not just having a general breakdown in the middle of the office.
Judging by the records of both, if such a fight were to occur the only thing that would be recorded about it would be "Bob won", minus any location for the fight to have occurred or by what means one of the two Bobs (three technically) won.
I think the most realistic way is 1 unite the two parts and start calling them a movie The bob emergency: a documentary about athletes named Bob Or something like this 2 put it on Netflix 3 get some buzz on it Critics views relevance 4 find a good suit for the red carpet
The part where Jon gets to Bob Sanders always breaks my heart. He was a phenomenal talent who could easily have been one of the greatest safeties of all time but was unfortunately derailed by injury time and time again and the music he uses when detailing how his career went, describing every highlight, every injury, and every missed game before hitting us with the fact that he was the last Bob to play a game in any of the major American sports never fails to bring about a profound sadness within me.
He got a DPOY and a Super Bowl! I guarantee he wouldn't change a thing about how he played. Injuries suck but the guys that played with him know about Bob Sanders
@@kyleneu4064 I agree 100% but I feel like there is still a small feeling that exists, regardless, where you wish this person or this team or whatever who you know and love and wish would receive the same love and adoration from the larger world. It's kind of like Jon Bois' Mariners documentary. He states outright that if we measure the success of the Mariners in world series rings and in wins/losses, we're missing the point. Like you said, I doubt Bob Sanders would change a thing about how his career went. He played like an animal and was invaluable to his team. But like how there is still a shred of me that wishes the Mariners won a world series, I also wish Bob Sanders was a Hall of Famer. I had no idea who he was before watching this documentary series. I'm glad I know who he is now.
"If there's a lesson, it's that: there are no dull stories. People are full of wonder. No matter how you study our history, you will always, always find it." This is a beautiful quote. I work as an historic interpreter, dressing in period clothing, talking about history and performing period skills. I largely prefer not to talk about the famous people, but the stories of the average person. So that sentiment resonates with me deeply. Thank you, Jon.
Why do you do this Jon? Your stats and data visualization skills are incredible, you could be working in any team's office making bank with your kind of insight. Instead you do this. Nobody needed to do this. It's only the most recent in a long line of things you created that the world never needed. But that, in itself, is what we need. There's a clear philosophy in your work of highlighting the stories of little people, and showing how every life adds to the tapestry of the human existence. It's beautiful, only you could make a story of Bobs into a reflection on life.
Fantastic reply. I can't even guess how many hours I've spent getting lost in Jon's work. I will always be thankful for the time and effort he has put into each and every one.
This is one of the most incredible feats ever in sports history. I'm shocked that there wasn't (IIRC) any big commemoration of its 50th anniversary last year. Jon Bois has done a great service to the public good.
There is one more, still active Bob in the world of sports - Swedish cross country skiier Bob Impola. He's competeing in the Visma Ski Classics long distance ski championship. Biggest achievement so far might be his second place at Vasaloppet 2018.
Fun fact, my grandpa was a long jumper too and he competed in the Rome 60 Olympics, both with Ralph Boston and Igor Ter-Ovanesian. He arrived 10th. Another bonus fact, one of Igor Ter-Ovanesian shoes broke down so my grandpa gave him his shoes, in which Igor jumped for the win
That zoom up through feet and inches... That's just such an effective tool... so powerful to see that. And I don't even know what feet or inches mean. That's just so overwhelming an improvement.
An inch is just a bit more than the width of your thumb (2.54 cm), a foot is 12 inches(30.48cm), a foot is pretty close to the long side of a piece of paper as well if you want an easy reference.
"Outside of the four major sports, prospects are equally grim. We're often forced to resort to technicalities to find any Bobs at all." This is the type of sports journalism I need, but don't deserve.
I've gotta admit, I listened to that line 5 times to make sure I heard it correctly, and I still don't understand what he meant -- it almost sounds like he's missing a word or something. Could you please explain it?
@@mikepalmer1676 He meant what he said. Jon was implying that the next story really isn't that important, period. Even though it's totally irrelevant, it adds to the entertainment of the Bob story, so he felt the need to add it to the video. He just has a unique form of humor that sometimes sounds confusing to people.
@@ryani.8916 hes said stuff like that before, I'm pretty sure he has said "it's not the best performance in *insert sport*'s history, but it is the worst.
@@ryani.8916 the story is certainly not "totally irrelevant", but rather quite relevant to the tale of interesting sports Bobs. But like most stories, it's far less important than the tale of a man performing an extremely common athletic feat far better than any other human ever.
Twist ending: this video series single-handedly brings about a newfound appreciation for the name Bob. The next generation of parents begins naming their children after Bob Gibson, Bob Beamon, the criminally mistreated Bob Sura, and of course, MMA legend Bob Bob. In 20 years' time, the next Golden Age of Bobs has arrived.
Between the punt video being his first video after that long-ass hiatus and now devoting 90+ minutes to the name Bob, I'm almost convinced that Jon either delights in the challenge of taking inane subject matter and transforming it into something genuinely interesting or he's just trolling us and manages to do so in a manner that's compelling nonetheless.
I had to watch Part II to see if he included Bob Burnquist, and I'm glad to see that he did. It's hard to fully appreciate his famous run in the 2001 vert final without more context. For one thing, in those days skaters would usually have setup tricks between their real difficult ones, and Bob only had basically one at the start, followed by back to back to back bangers off of every wall. He also had multiple points where it looked like he had messed up. He got a bad flick or catch and it looked like he was going to bail, but he miraculously had enough control to hang on and keep going. Then on top of that, and this is the real kicker, he did most of the run switch, which means he was in what was opposite his normal stance, basically doing every trick backwards. Imagine performing in any other sport in your opposite stance, batting, pitching, golfing, whatever. That's what he managed to do here. And after the time was up, he just kept on flowing, executing trick after trick, leaving no doubt in anyone's minds that he deserved the gold that year.
Signing Jon Bois was the best decision made by SB Nation. I’m not sure, but I think it’s because (unlike a lot of youtubers) he actually cares and does thorough research. And that doesn’t even mention the brilliant voiceover and editing. Idk, it just does feel like he genuinely cares about what he’s talking about. Also that quote at the end 👌🏻
I mean ever since he joined on his influence has been very apparent with more story like series like weird rules or rewinder beef history or even dork town have all have more leans towards the story elements of sports
To the best of my current Google search skills, I have found that 9 of the 10 Bobs he mentions as still active are indeed still active as of January, 2022. Tennis player Bob Bryan retired in August of 2020. Here's to hoping we see more Bobs in the future.
You got me to watch 51 minutes on dudes named bob and I was glued to the screen...and you got me to give a *#@& about long jumping. Y'all might want to take a crack homelessness and world peace since y'all are out here achieving the impossible.
Inspirational but I personally don't consider racing a sport so much as a pastime. Maybe Jon is in the same boat, more likely he just couldn't include every single notable sports Bob and so focused on more popular sports. Edit: Double checked part one and he included Racing, so must have decided to omit it because it's more niche considering it sounds like an interesting story.
@@PissedUAWElectrician Not saying it doesn't take fortitude or skill. I just don't see it as a sport personally. At least not always. The definition of sport has always been difficult for me to define.
@@nedisahonkey I hear you my friend. I feel the same way about trying to define sport. I wrestled and played football in school, then afterwards went into bodybuilding. I will tell you right now, going through posing for bodybuilding is the hardest physical thing I have ever done, but I never considered it a sport.
Jon, I don't even watch sports, and yet I've spent 2 hours of my life watching these 2 videos. They're a remarkable combination of research, production, and narration, and I was certainly not expecting to be so moved by the end. I love your work, but this might be the best of the bunch.
These videos may have accidentally saved my academic career. I am about to graduate with my AoS with an emphasis on mathematics, planning on transferring to university as a statistics major. Lately I have become very disillusioned with math, I have dropped all my classes this term being severely burned out and coming to see math as nothing more than "meaningless number manipulation, that benefits no one and lacks any intrinsic value". Not only have you used statistics as a basis for a compelling story, but also, in a round-about way as a way to tell the entire history of sports, and the stories of stand-out people along the way, and while I am possibly the person least interested in sports that I know, I cannot deny how engrossing the story is that these videos have to tell. You've given me hope that maybe there is something more yet to be done.
Bob Armstrong sadly passed last year in August :( thank you for helping us all remember his great and long lasting career! He truly was a fighter until the end.
I want to see a Jon Bois biography made in the style of a Jon Bois video - call it a new episode of Pretty Good. This is impossible of course, because the only person capable of making Pretty Good is Jon Bois.
How could a man with an affinity for charts, sports obscurity, and a trademark near permanent deadpan voice become the most entertaining person on the internet? (Low end jazz begins)
Have a great uncle named bob proctor who played minor league baseball for the cardinals in the 50s. Had a change to go to spring training but quit because he had some business thing to come do in California. Ended up making a lot of money and lives comfortablely out here. Just funny to know he was part of these statistics
As a Dallas native, I am outraged that “Bullet” Bob Hayes, the fastest NFL player ever, the best punt returner to ever live, one of the 2 people to win a gold medal and be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the ONLY person to ever win an olympic gold and a superbowl ring, and the man who was so fast that zone defense was created JUST TO STOP HIM Good video anyways
If you counted correctly than we're getting a "Bob" once every 28 seconds, compared to episode one's once for every 18 seconds? Why the decline? Welcome to today's deep rewind
Listen here, Jon You are a visionary. Your editing, immaculate. Voice-over, spooky. But your researching skills... uhhh ..... I can't think of an adjective to describe how good you are at researching. I've done research deep dives for trends to help me gain an advantage in fantasy football. I've researched topics from getting shat on by a bird to which serial killers went unnoticed for the longest. I am a nerd, and i piggyback off of data collected from other nerds. But "what if we took away Barry Bonds' bat" and "what's the saddest punt ever" are truly groundbreaking adventures into analytical nerdom. "Scorigami" is now not only something i casually think about, but it's something I need to be updated on. What is the scorigami chart for college football? More teams=more games played=less scorigami opportunity. I'm rambling. I love you Jon Bois. Keep doing you. ps; I'm naming my first born son "Michael Robert McMullen" Bob for short
@@AnCoSt1 is Bol Bol Manute's kid? His dad boxed William "Refrigerator" Perry. Let's chip in for a Bol Bol vs. Bob Bob throwdown. If not in the ring, then rock paper scissors or an epic rap battle or something.
“There are no dull stories” It’s so true. I find myself sitting here wanting to know more about that boxer who got knocked out 9 times in just a couple of months but kept giving it another shot. What was his story??
This video is 5 years old. I honestly hope that a few Roberts have chosen to by Bob solely because of this video. But some updates: Boxer Bob Ajisafe last boxed in 2019 and no longer has an active website, when he did in 2019. Soccer player Bob McHugh appears to still be on a team, but has not played since 2022. Soccer player Bob Straetman may or may not still be active. he played games in the 2022-2023 soccer season, but I cannot find record that he played in 2023-2024. Of note - while he got lots of minutes played in 22-23, and did well, his team got promoted to the next tier up. It is possible that he didn't make the cut. Bob Gilder came out of retirement for a few more tournaments in 2019; but hasn't played in one since 2019. Bob Sowards has played at least one tournament in 2024. Bob Tway has not played since 2019. Bob Estes has played in two tournaments in 2024. Bob Bryan the tennis player has retired. (In fact, Bob and his brother/doubles partner retired about a year after the video came out.) I can't find good data on Bob Evans the wrestler. Cyclist Bob Jungels is still riding. Assuming four years with no competitions, that means that of the last 10 Bobs, four can be declared "retired" (for now.) Three are still playing for sure. Two are "maybe playing, maybe not" (both low-level European soccer,) and one is completely unclear. (Wrestling, he could start competing again at any moment.)
I predict that in the late 2020’s, Jungels will be all alone, and in the 2030’s we will have our first year with no active Bobs in sports since the 1850’s, and as he said at that point “all of this will belong to the past.”
I love how SB Nation is so aware of Jon's genius at this point that they just OK whatever he wants to do a video on. In theory this sounds like an absolutely absurd idea for a video, and not in a entertaining way. Absurd in a terrible idea way. In practice however it's as interesting and well put together as any of Jon's other masterpieces. You never cease to amaze me Mr. Bois. Truly one of the most creative and innovative creators on RUclips and still sadly not as recognized as you should be.
I am now going to tell everybody I know the Bob Beamon story. It deserves to be told and it deserves to be heard. One of the best stories of humanity ever, let alone sports.
This 2 part documentary is, in my modest opinion, the best sport-related “thing” ever produced. I watched roughly 10 times and I still can’t hold back tears. Awesome music and perfect storytelling. Thank you for sharing these wonderful stories. Love from Italy.
I was practically yelling for Bob Hayes by the end of this! I assume he didn't add Bob Hayes because it's less of a dramatic story, and time constraints. I think some Bob Hayes footage and explaining the importance he had in how defense in the NFL evolved would have greatly contributed to the breadth of the kinds of Bob. He wasn't the Bob painted as the main character we see in this video, but he was an important Bob nonetheless.
I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't mention Bullet Bob Hayes, a man who ran 10.06 seconds at the 1964 games on a cinder track in poor condition. If you think about, you might realize how extraordinary this achievement is. He was also the first to officially go below 10 seconds, though the time was wind-aided. He then went on to star as a wide receiver in the NFL and make the Hall of Fame.
I can't help but weep. I rewatched it after finishing the video and cried again. I don't know why. It hits me hard. I feel like I went on the journey with him, and the way Jon says he's no closer to understanding, I just become overwhelmed with how impossible it seemed.
i feel like 5 years from now, some HUGE breakout star in one of the 4 major north american leagues will be named bob, he will come out of nowhere, and make the bobs proud

Everyone has their favorite line, and they're all correct.
@Fries And if, in this alternate timeline, he keeps up that level of production, he's easily in Canton.
God, this part was heartbreaking.
@Fries there's no way Sanders would have been nearly as effective in the post Concussion era. I would have loved to see him try though.

An update on the final 10 Bobs, 5 years later:

And adding his personal and social circumstances, it's hard to imagine a feat of that level (and importance) ever happening again.
ikr!!!! insane and Blessed!
i mean just think about the change in the 100m?!!!
The long jump record will never again be beaten by that margin until we find a way to make super-serum/genetically engineer superior people.
Roy Beddington
If you adjust for the running surface of Jesse Owens compared to modern day rubberized track, Owens would have been only a single stride behind Usain Bolt at his fastest.

Stories like this are why I adore sports writing. I cant say I would of really cared about this record at all or it’s Progression if I just saw it in a table. It's a sick joke that we will never be able to see a fight between Bob Cyclone and Bob Bob.
Judging by the records of both, if such a fight were to occur the only thing that would be recorded about it would be "Bob won", minus any location for the fight to have occurred or by what means one of the two Bobs (three technically) won.

As a Dallas native, I am outraged that “Bullet” Bob Hayes, the fastest NFL player ever, the best punt returner to ever live, one of the 2 people to win a gold medal and be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the ONLY person to ever win an olympic gold and a superbowl ring, and the man who was so fast that zone defense was created JUST TO STOP HIM
Good video anyways
There could be a whole part 3 of the bob emergency with the amount of notable Bobs left off.
Honestly I felt like I was gonna cry when it started to pan over the measurements and it passed 28. Thank you Jon that was beautiful
Well, the word Bob was spoken only 109 times in this video...31 times less than Part 1.
If you counted correctly than we're getting a "Bob" once every 28 seconds, compared to episode one's once for every 18 seconds?
Why the decline?
Welcome to today's deep rewind
Coltin Thorn 😂😂😂
@@coltin1494 it just adds to the sadness of the disappearance of Bob
A lot of those are probably because of the Bob Bob part
The decline of Bob is inescapable :
Listen here, Jon
You are a visionary. Your editing, immaculate. Voice-over, spooky. But your researching skills...
uhhh
.....
Keep doing you.
ps; I'm naming my first born son "Michael Robert McMullen"
Bob for short
With Bol Bol entering the 2019 draft, there will be more NBA players named Bol than Bob
Bol Bol's got nothing on Bob Bob.
I propose renaming Bol Bol to Bob. It's shorter and has all the frequent letters.

@@AnCoSt1 is Bol Bol Manute's kid? His dad boxed William "Refrigerator" Perry.
Let's chip in for a Bol Bol vs. Bob Bob throwdown. If not in the ring, then rock paper scissors or an epic rap battle or something.
@@qfmarsh64 Yep, Bol is Manute's kid.
This is the definition of quality over quantity. Thanks Jon.
Eten TK but this was both
I was SO MAD when he revealed that the triple double was taken away
At least Sura is forever immortalized on my Detroit Pistons tshirt
“There are no dull stories”
It’s so true. I find myself sitting here wanting to know more about that boxer who got knocked out 9 times in just a couple of months but kept giving it another shot. What was his story??
Someone needs to get all pro Middle Linebacker Bobby Wagner to go as bob
This video is 5 years old.
I honestly hope that a few Roberts have chosen to by Bob solely because of this video.
But some updates:
Boxer Bob Ajisafe last boxed in 2019 and no longer has an active website, when he did in 2019.
(In fact, Bob and his brother/doubles partner retired about a year after the video came out.)
I can't find good data on Bob Evans the wrestler.
Im really suprised there was no mention of Bob Hayes in this, the fastest NFL player ever
Let's hope there's a part three with the Bobs that got left out
TheNrp8598 his real name isn’t bob
@@yes9421 agreed, if you go by Bob that meets criteria here.
@@ryankohler481 Neither was Bob Sanders
What about Bob Sanders?
One of the best stories of humanity ever, let alone sports.
the anticipattttioooooon of waiting for u to call that last jump lmfao ive never been so happy/nervous to not know metric conversions
I had no idea how badly I needed 100 minutes of Jon Bois talking about the history of Bobs in sports.
This 2 part documentary is, in my modest opinion, the best sport-related “thing” ever produced. I watched roughly 10 times and I still can’t hold back tears. Awesome music and perfect storytelling. Thank you for sharing these wonderful stories.
Love from Italy.
Bob Sanders was my favorite player of all time as a Colts fan. Haven't been excited about a player like that in a long time. I miss you Bob
No mention for "Bullet" Bob Hayes, the only athlete to win both an Olympic gold medal (in track and field) and a Super Bowl ring?
He was actually the first Bob I thought of.
Maybe didn't have the struggle of other Bob
Just generic simple story of a great athlete extremely good at sport
My sentiment exactly. Completely changed NFL defenses too.
YES!
Somehow Jon Bois has gotten me emotional over the most generic name ever. He truly is the 🐐
I literally cried as the measurement for Beamon's jump kept climbing. After a while I wanted it to stop for my own sanity. Holy hell.
