The best thing about this car is that 15 years later it will still look modern. Same applies to Passat CC, it's so old but it still looks so god damn good and modern in 2019
Interior too. VW make interiors so simple that you can't tell if it was made 5 years ago or today. It's kind of a pro and con, depends if you're into really simple interiors.

@@joshlovepopcorn I would agree but the base model is around the £30,000. Even with a chunk of the upgrades you're still only looking around the £40k mark. (I will concede i'm talking in GBP so you could very well be correct if you're purchasing in somewhere like the US)

For me a car become sport when it takes under 5 in 0 to 100
0 - 100 is just a tiny factor of the bigger picture of what a sporty car feels like. Theres much more besides that, but i understand why people just focus on that thing because its an easy to digest number

Volkswagen will bring back the VR6 for the next generation Audi RS4 and RS5 which will switch to the MQB architecture in the future.

My uncle has a Superb SW L&K 280 wich has the same engine and he drives me when i need to get to a place when my wife is away with the car.
I wish they brought the vr6 back for this. Maybe its possible down the line? The CC R-Line was a 2.0T, and then they had a separate non R for the 3.6 vr6

What i always loved in VW saloon is the space. I had a passat and i did test drive the Arteon R. Great review covering all the car and more or less my opinion on it. Just to add the fact that (as Max said) the steering feel disconnected and it does and this become a problem when you corner fast because of the body roll this car has when you corner fast. And 1 more thing there is a lack of grip in the front when you accelerate and it does under steer. Overall this feels like a successful upgrade of the PassatCC. Well done AutoTopNL and great work Max !

Thanks for a very informative review, and for letting us know how it does on the Autobahn. Too much motion from the head mounted camera and the fisheye lens effect could be a bit less, especially for the exterior views of the car.
I like the interior and the car all around. I would love to have one once they are available in the United States this year.

when closing the VW Arteon door, use a soft close rather than slamming it. Slamming the door can damage the door electronics and windows

I love the TSI and own one myself but for what theyre offering, I feel like they should be utilizing the VR6 design for this car. Id also like to see them turbo the VR6 by default

Speed limit where I'm from is 120, you go 140 max when taking over. When I see 200+ my palms begin to sweat :D
I'm considering buying one of these. It's a used car, from 2018, 2.0 TSI 190hp and only has 70.000 km. Going to test drive it in 2 days. I had an accident a few weeks ago and my very nice 2017 BMW 5 series is total loss... I really like the look of the Arteon but I'm a bit worried about fuel consumption because it's a petrol car. If I do buy it, I'll get a performance tuning to 235 hp and 400nm of torque though.
Did you get it? I'm looking at a used one as well, for the price it can't be beat, it comes with all the options you could ever want, like leather, full assistant systems, sunroof, petrol engine, etc.
@@RagnetulCarpatilor I did the test drive but didn't buy it. It felt kinda heavy and sluggish. 190hp really isn't enough for a car like that. After that I test-drove an Audi A5 Sportback with 190 hp. Great car, great handling, but it's really tiny on the in side. Didn't feel comfortable. I ended up buying a Mazda 6 194 hp and I like it a lot.
That camera warps shapes so much... Never use it again...
The exterior looks quite amazing actually but that interior it needed more time to be worked on tbh
The starting price is almost the same as BMW 4 series in Canada.
I test drive an Arteon, very good looking car and a nice drive but far too expensive. U could get a nice Audi A5 Sportback for that, which I did and love it!

Alex M how is that surprising from a VW? VW almost has always had the better looking cars in each segment, although a subjective argument- VW is very similar to Audi and therefore usually top competitors such as Honda Toyota Nissan
I have Audi A4 from 2009 . It’s good car . Comfortable, fast , it has 8 automatic speed .... but I think soon to change with this . This is awesome car. Btw Mercedes was Mercedes years ago because it was classy , BMW and Audi too but now almost every brand has good cars. So we don’t have say that because it’s WV is bad . Because Bugatti, Bentley and Lamborghini are under cover WV 😂 sooo they are not bad at all 👍🏻 Very good review

Actually it is Audi who designed the engine and its variations. Many people say that Audi cars have VW engines but in fact it's the other way around

I understand they have discontinued the production of the TDI 240 version. I would say that is a big mistake. With all due respect, the TDI 150 engine is weedy and a poor offering as a top of the range diesel offer.

It's a shame.. Because if VW worked on erasing the cheap plastics lower down, gave it a slight refreshed chassy, so it's atleast as fun as the golf r.. Maybe change the dash up, as it is passat inside.. You'd have a truly excellent car. One day hopefully.. Still would consider buying a stylish car in its current state.
This looks really nice on the outside. Vw has totally changed their design Aesthetic. There’s nothing about this car that connects it back to any euro vw. Perhaps it’s closer to the US design Passat.

You heard of fish eye? Great looking car but I hate the video because of the wide angle. Next time remove the fish eye effect.
Now it is time to test his diesel comparent, the BiTDI passat with 240 hp. Even better on the autobahn with its torque. Only a bit slower.
