this time of year is rough . no local family. not too many friends, lots of loss between thanksgiving and new years , just lay low and stick to myself. i enjoy the holidays for people who have others to enjoy it with , not bahumbug, but feel distant and isolated.

I know exactly what yo mean Uncle Joey. I always feel sad. And unavoidably depressed. Around this time of year. I think it is because the people that i love that are gone . And christmas always reminds me of them I try to keep my spirits up. But it happens everytime. I get called a grinch. I dont hate christmas. It just makes me miss the people i used to spend it with.
I know exactly how you feel but for different reasons. Before I met my wife I hated at least the 5 years before hand at Xmas very depressing, I had no one and felt very lonely even though I have a big family that I see very often. Living alone at Christmas for me was a very lonely time, now I have a family, wife and kids and I love that time of year, it still affects me and at least once every Xmas I find time alone to reflect on how I used to feel and how lucky I am right now. I know what joey is talking about exactly.

This winter has been the hardest for me.. my anxiety and depression really ramps up once it gets cold and most bad things that have happened within my family have always happened in the winter. Thank you Joey for starting off the podcast with acknowledging that a lot of people (including yourself) have a hard time around this time of year. And like you said, you always faked the funk until you realized that you aren't the only one feeling like this. Lost my grandpa passed from Terminal Cancer in the beggining of the year so not having him at the table was very hard. I feel you on so many levels joey, thank you.
This episode made me feel like I'm not alone... Monday December 10th of this year my grandmother passed away. We buried her the following Thursday, 5 days before Christmas. This year was the absolute worst. But I mean, these things happen. we have no control over who we get to hug and who we never get to see again. I just wish I could hug my mama Sara & tell her how much I miss her..
I’m so sorry for your lost , I lost my mom in 2017 and I miss her every day so I can relate to you losing someone you love, it’s hard bro but watching the church really helped me especially through the beginning of this fucking pandemic. Take care brother!

Lee i love you, there's no better way to think of the holidays, no body likes the cold, no one likes being broke or bad gifts but, everyone loves company and if you can share a smile or laugh then to me at least, thst smile or laugh is the best gift anyone can give/get. My grandpa did the same and I remember finding it just after he died - it was literally the only thing that cheered my dad up at the time and one of the few things he hung onto. Even if your family never find it, or don't care, it's not like you ever have to find out either!

Watching your podcasts as well as Mr Joe Rogans I have herd loads of stories from funny moments in your life and I took the time to really put some thought into how hard it must have been at some of the stages in your life. The way you look at life is so unique to most people and I believe that has a lot to do with your success and your amazing way of looking at things . I am a former marine/ disabled veteran and after hearing your heart felt opinion on the military veterans it really got my attention and I wanted to say thank you so much for your kind strong felt words. I couldn’t help but to get motivated by your words that particular day it made me stop feeling sorry for my self and get off my ass and got motivated again. Thank you so much for this podcast Uncle Joey. I'm that guy. I don't mean to be but the holidays are exhausting for me. I'm a butcher working for a retail corporation. When the holidays come, business virtually doubles but the labor they give us remains almost completely unchanged, so it's tough, hell work for 2 months straight, and customers change around this time as well in a very horrible way, it really makes me hate the holidays, but it pays very well for the level of education and skill that i have so i don't really know of much of a way out at this point, but i would like to get out, some days i would rather be dead than continue to work at that place.

hey before I played and watch this entire podcast in one shot,
shout out too lee i remember a few yr bk i spoke to him on the phone
he was on b real podcast with e zone and they literally accept phone calls
when they gave out a number it was a trip word up.
