- Audio Engineers John Cuniberti with the OneMic Series and Ples Hampton with Sun Studio give a short tour of this historic recording studio in Memphis Tennessee.

I went to Memphis in summer 1980. The Sun building was there, and there was a person in the front office who collected $10/each to walk into the studio. No tour. No guitars, No equipment in the control room. It was very sad. I knew where I was and imagined all the great music that was recorded there, but it was essentially abandoned. I bought a Sun Studios tee shirt and we left. I'm glad to see it's been properly restored and people can record there again.
I too was there in 2001 and no one was there for a tour, I was able to play the Bass that was there, and played the drum kit(i use play loosely ) we bought what swag that was available which i think gave us more leeway, and it was during the week during the Autumn, so it was slow.
My Girl and i had pics taken like the million dollar quartet. still have the swag including the sun ticket and have no idea why they even had them , there was only 2-4 other people.
It was so cool just being there, the temple of Rock n Roll. Also dont stay at the Elvis theme hotel it really sucked. The Peabody is so cool, yes the ducks, and the Roll around Bar in the lobby.
Memphis didnt disappoint, music, Food, History, and party on Beal St.
The magic of Sam Philips and his studio just never ends. It's truly a global phenomenon. Once this Covid crisis ends, the tourists will be flocking back to Memphis in even bigger numbers.
