i took my wife and kids there in the 1980s . i already knew the history of it , before i walked in. the kids loved it also.
For someone who lives on the other side of the planet, I can not Thank you enough for these videos, Thank you from Australia.
Come to Memphis. Lots of great things to do. Lots of good eating.
It’s an amazing tour. I was there in 2018.
Yes same. Thank you from California
Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie
Nobody had the sound elvis had & nobody done gospel songs like he did. Elvis was & always wil be n my opinion rhe greatest singer of all time.
That picture the Million Dollar Quartet is actually Billions of Dollar now. They were there together and toured together before Elvis was sold. Incredible.
Nothing more magical than the relics and the stories of rock n roll history. Sun is the building where the egg was laid and hatched.
I visited Sun Records a few years back. I felt like there were ghosts in the rooms. It was unbelievable. The tour guide was a young guy who wasn't even born until the 1980s. He did his homework and gave an excellent tour.
I didn’t feel ghosts. Just the thought about who could have visited theplace…
Dewey Philips was the first DJ to play That’s All Right Mama as a favor to Sam Phillips. It was so popular that he kept playing it over and over because people were calling in and asking to hear it again. It became a regional hit record. And Sam Phillips recorded black and white artists and this was when blacks were still being treated like second class citizens and segregation was still in effect.
What a great and extensive Tour! Thanks for showing everything as I can’t travel and always wanted to see the Sun Studio.
And Dewey Phillips was either naturally crazy or on Amphetamines and my moneys on Amphetamines.
Nonetheless, he must be given credit for starting Elvis’s career off! And Sam Phillips discovered Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison and Ike Turner and Howlin Wolf. And Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins! Amazing!
And Phillips sold Elvis’s contract to RCA for 35 Grand which is now like 350 Grand adjusted for inflation. The dollar was strong back then. You could buy a House and Car for 35 Grand and have money left over.
I could watch this over and over again!
Actually that may or may not have happened. As I have said before, I’m anything and everything on the Life of Elvis.. And it was Sam Phillips’ Secretary that recorded Elvis first record for I believe $3.
I live in Central Texas, but this year I WILL make the drive there and take the tour.. even if it’s a go and come back quick trip!
If I had a time machine I’d go back to the very moment Elvis stepped foot in sun studio
Can you go there inside and sing a song 🎵 🎶? How much is it if so . I would love to do that
Had the honor to meet and talk to Sam Phillips from sun records ....he was a down to earth nice person ..rest in power and thanks for the conversation we had back in the day will always cherish that talk we had and to meet Sam Phillips in person
This doc is your best work. No Fluff nor Filler.
What a cool bit of History. Can you imagine the chances that maybe they wouldn't call Elvis back and hear his wonderful voice. Makes me think how many others have tried and failed just because they didn't find the right person that thought they were good enough. You walked in the footsteps of Legends. Thank you Jordan
Can't imagine just being there where Elvis Presley sang played his 🎸 guitar
Visited Memphis,August 2019 from England. Loved Graceland and Sun studios, will watch this over and over .Thanks for the upload.
I remember visiting Sun Studio and Graceland in 2015 from Sweden. So cool! And with the same tour guide, haha!
Elvis bought a Pink Cadillac for his Mother just as a GIFT ❤
His music & records entertained me back in the nifty 50s!! Been there done that after high school!! Viva Los vagis!!
This is where black and white singers and groups were brought together to make some of the best music ever recorded. There was no race at Sun Studios. Everyone was accepted. The best of the best recorded here from B.B. King to Elvis to Carl Perkins to Jerry Lee Lewis. I mean come on the Prisonaires would have never gotten the opportunity anywhere on the planet to record a record. Sun's was an exceptional group of people to give a band like this half a chance. Sam is what real men are made of! An exceptional man. Total Class. Absolutely Legendary!
Was there in 95, it has changed a lot.....myself and my girl were the only people on the tour....it was amazing
Awesome! I'm 49 and just now appreciating Elvis!
The only one I'm interested in is Elvis , the best ever. 💕
You need not computers, fancy equipment to record history. Sun records is the proof of it!
i mean, we are watching this because of computers
My brother, his wife and I visited this place. As the tour guy was telling all about the sun studio he was telling us about the X's on the floor, low and behold my brother was standing on the very spot that Elvis stood.
This is one of the best tours I have ever taken! These tour guides make the history come alive!!!
I was born July 54. One of my favourites it’s elvis . As my grandmother was a fan. Now my 8 year old grandaughter now is also. . I own the most amazing portrait of him gifted to me by my family on my 60th birthday. And created by my very talented neice.
Love this video as I am a huge fan of Sam an sun records. I love seeing the stories that came about from the studio. Some amazing artists. Thankyou for sharing . Cheers from Aussie.🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Imagine going back in time and stop there to meet elvis before and after he recored his first song.
Been there and with the same tour guide that was featured. He's great and makes it so real. Thanks for sharing your memory that echoes mine. Everyone that loves country or rock and roll and blues should go here once. You will never forget it and even better every time you pick up an old sun record to play you will hear that space all over again because you were there.
Sun is an amazing and must-see tour. To walk through, stand and be where Elvis Presley and other greats stood is an experience that will last a lifetime. It all started at Sun, and you will leave with memories that you will want to share.
At 77, George, I dream to be in these Historic Havens where Rock n Roll began!!! Much oblige for sharing selflessly!!!
This was the BEST one yet ty so very very much 💓 ❤️ love all those guys AMAZING 👏
FABULOUS vlog !!!
Real history. Young B B KING, ELVIS PRESLEY , wow beautiful
Wow… The history of modern Rock. Thanks for this, I can almost smell the place, the history, the wooden floors, pinboard walls, and old valves. One day if I have a lotto win, or a hit record myself, I will have the funds to make the pilgrimage from London UK 🇬🇧😊 CHEERS
What a cool studio! And it’s a cultural landmark now!
Went to Sun studios for my 50th birthday. The best day i ever had.You can just feel the atmosphere of the 1950s.Thankyou for posting this video.
Can you just imagine leaning against the brick wall with those guys maybe smoking before going in to record.
Cool
I think it's probably safe to say they were 'smokin' the whole time.
Elvis never actually existed. He was a character created by the CIA who's purpose was to stop the unchecked spread of homosexuality occuring within the music industry due to poorly filtered tap water.
@@aai3661 where is the source of this info
@@aai3661 😂😂😂
Was just there about three weeks ago. It's a great place full of history. You can definitely feel the history there
And omg you had the same tour guide I did.
Congratulations Jordan ! Elvis and The Sun Studio, what a beautiful rock'n roll history. From Rio, Brazil.
This is fantastic and I hope I make it there one day. Many thanks from Australia
That was beyond amazing! I am a huge Johnny Cash fan so seeing the actual studio where he recorded so many of those amazing songs was so cool. Thanks for this one!
Johnny did record his early stuff there but he moved to Columbia in Nashville soon and recorded there.
I went on the tour. It's a great experience.
Most magical place I’ve ever been to. Even got to play the original ‘Great balls of fire’ piano! Thanks to the team there!
Good talent & heart
= success!
That recording studio is musical hallowed ground, how amazing is that.
Totally rockabilly and rock and roll history. The sacred ground. Great vlog👍🏻😎
Very cool! I just took my 9 year old son who is ate up with Elvis Jerry Lee and anything from the 50s to Memphis yesterday for Father's Day and we went to Graceland and Sun Records we missed you by a few days LOL
Just did the tour this last weekend......I was in heaven doing the tour....I could have just stayed there. Maybe one day I will get a couple of grand and record in there ($200/hr) a song or 2.
BEST TOUR EVER
All I can say is a big WOW!! So much talent and greatness under the same roof!! Thank you Jordan!!
A big “Thank you very much”. It was one of my dream to go there ; unfortunately I’ll never will (health) but your video was as if I were here with you and it’s very appreciated. Thank you again !
Very nice, Jordan. I wouldn't have wanted to take the tour with anyone else. Thanks.
just love this 'visit'. these people MADE rock'roll thanks.
Your so lucky to live in the states and visit all these amazing places I myself live in the uk were there is nothing here like you have in the states, thank you so much for the uploads..
I grew up in Memphis about a mile south of Graceland. I drove by the studio many times but never went in. I enjoyed the video and learned a lot. A very historic place.
Johnny cash and elvis changed my musical life and you got your sun history down pat kudos
We came to Memphis just 8 weeks ago.its such a cool place.and the tour was amazing.the chap was fantastic and funny.but made us feel so relaxed .its well worth going.if your in Memphis don’t miss out.we seen a different guy but there all so friendly and the people in the cafe couldn’t do enough to help.beautiful .from England.across the pond. Thank you so much for sharing.
There's something very magical at Sun Records. I'm glad that I visited that studio 20 years ago while I was in Memphis.
I couldn't even imagine what it felt like to be in that room!
Great vid, to think Johnny Cash, Jerry Lewis and Elvis all there! And Elvis walks in to make a record for his Mum. Imagine if that place never existed! Music would have not been the same.
i love Sun Studio ,Graceland ,Beale Street the whole Memphis thing ..My 2nd home ..I go every year in Aug for Elvis week ,Thanks for sharing your awesome videos .love them .
This is where rock n roll was invented. In 1951 Rocket 88 by Jackie Brenston and his delta cats was recorded in this same studio
Elvis Presley is the only music I listen to going to work he is the one and only singer I ever loved to listen to he had a voice of a Angel but sometimes I listen to cash but mostly Elvis Presley and I also married his 7th cousin I am a Presley I am so proud of that name and I love your stuff and the things you show us Jah is so cute to
Great Vlog Jordan, I'm a huge Elvis fan...I seen Elvis in concert on August 1, 1976 and I got to see Jery Lee in the mid 80's
Was there about 7 years ago.
Complete bucket list item. Amazing tour.
The day before we were in Nashville & did the Ryman Auditorium. Had a beer in the back side bar of Tootsies. Accross the alley from the back door of the Ryman. No lines, only 3 people in the bar.
Probably where Cash & Hank went after they got kicked off the stage.
I just watched this video again. Such great history and the great icons that started out there. I love Elvis and Johnny and still listen to their music today. So glad that Billy mentioned liking you and I looked up your videos. Thank you so much Jordan.
My friend and his band was lucky enough to be able to record an album at Sun Studios. You can find it on Spotify. Ryan Chrys and the Rough Cuts - Sun Studio Cuts. Ryan even played Scotty Moores guitar on a few songs!
Carl Perkins was also there.
It's talked about in the video
History! Rock n Roll History! Amazing tour Jordan
Absolutely fascinating, thank you so much for sharing this tour and piece of history with us 😍
BB King played on U2's song "When love comes to town" which was also done at Sun. BB also sang on this song.
Hey i was just thumbing thru some of your videos and i watched this one im in tears you just dont know how much sun records artist especialy elvis is my favorite johny and jerry and carl and i love rocket 88 this video means so much to me thanks brother love you
Great job capturing the tour. We loved it and our own tour of Sun Records. Thanks for taking the time to vlog it. That microphone that Elvis used is awesome and I have my picture taken in front of it. We also saw the drum set left in the studio. Thanks as always!
Back in the 1950's my uncle played cards with Johnny Cash in Philly whenever Cash came through there. ❤
My Dad had that record in the 70s of Elvis, Perkins, Cash and Lewis. Listened to it a lot.
Thank-you so much for this video, I loved it! So many of the top artists recorded there! I really hope this icon of a studio will always be kept alive for futur generations to see! Thank-you again for posting!
Loved this video...so neat to see the recording studio where Elvis started...of coarse i totally freaked when he said Def Leppard has recorded there...one word for it...CLASSIC
That tour guide was awesome
I was so blessed to see BB KING and Lucille of course before he passed away. It was incredible. I’m from southern Louisiana. Now I just gotta meet Jerry Lee Lewis. He’s been my favorite musician/singer since I was a child.
Excellent, my Man!!! This is one of my favorite places!!! Sun Studio!!! 🔥🔥🔥
The world is going to miss rock and roll someday.
I already miss the 1900s
Been watching your Elvis videos. My husband’s whole family is from Memphis, so we’re there every year at my mother in law’s home. Went to Sun Studios my first visit (along with Graceland). Loved my visit to both spots. Except we didn’t get to see much of Graceland. My non verbal autistic kiddo took one look up the stair case upon entering the house, and freaked out. We have no idea what it was he saw that spooked him. 🤷🏻♀️ I had to run out of there to calm him down. So I enjoyed your Graceland video because although I’ve been there, I didn’t actually get to see most of what your video showed.
Rock & Roll was my era, many moons ago, sure has changed
Awestruck coming across Beale Street mecca for blues jazz rockabilly musical historical landmark and life-long dream to pay my respects and homage to visionary rock pioneer Sam Phillips akin to Poets Corner. God bless
Great history lesson!
At 12.20, ‘there’s Elvis with some of the guys there’ Well the guy on Elvis’ right is no other than Little Junior Parker who wrote and recorded Mystery Train on SUN together with his Blue Flames. The other guy is Bobby Bland.
Wonderful wonderful that I have to tell you I'm a little jealous LOL I wish I was in a position where I could go to Graceland and Beale Street and all these places and I never did get to see Elvis so thank you for RUclips and people like you I get 2 vicariously through you the way I did when I saw Elvis on the screen.
Thank you so much for this video a very close friend of mine was just telling me two days ago about Elvis Presley and Sun records and now you did this video it's just so cool did you read our minds, I do have a 33 rpm of Jerry Lee Lewis on Sun Label -
Cosimo's studio in New Orleans is ironically, now, a laundromat-but a museum too! nice tour-thanks!
Thanks for this awesome video tour brother! I only went into the cafe. I didn't know about the tour until later. So thanks for that awesome tour! 👍🏽
That was sooo awesome Jordan ❤🎙 Thank you so much for this terrific Vlog ❤ long live the KING And all the famous artists who recorded there 🎙🎙🎵🎵🎶❤
This was so cool. I live in Tennessee but 4 hours from Memphis. I want to visit one day.
So much great content brother! Your hitting everything with keeping the musician in mind! Thank you I feel like I was there!
Love this video thanks always wanted to go to Memphis never got there yet
Total awesomeness!!!! Love this❤❤❤❤
What a fantastic bucket list dream to fulfill! Truly sacred ground. Thank you bringing us along on this amazing journey.
This is certainly on my must visit when I visit Memphis next year.
We were there in March 2022. Awesome experience. Got to do a VIP tour of Graceland also! A must for any Elvis fan!!
Another fabulous video. Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate them.
Wow Jordan what and wonderful and amazing tour of all of these musicians
I've been here Jordan. This is a must tour for any music fan.. Thank you for sharing...
I can confirm that the first microphone is the actual one that they all used. Sam said, “I don’t want this behind glass. I want people to be able to touch it”
What a phenomenal video! I have been to Memphis a few times, and it's an amazing place. Great Town, and Beale Street is amazing. Right around the corner, Sun Records is just so so cool. Went there this past summer, and took the Family. We loved it. Can't wait to get back and see more. GREAT video.
