My mom tells me that I'd watched this movie at least 30 times as a kid. Now that I look back at it, I think it's because I related to the main character so much. I had a really tough time learning as a kid, my school's special ed system was pretty stupid too lol, all they'd do is send in a teacher once every three classes, she writes in your journal and tells you to do your work, kids can already be pretty harsh, didn't help that they had a free pass to pick on the one kid who was always checked on by teachers haha- I only started improving after I got one teacher who was extremely patient with me in fifth grade, she held extra classes for me after school, took time to explain every single subject to me, and helped me build a lotta confidence. Then in 6th grade it was back to the old cycle of teachers coming in and going, begging picked on etc. But this time, it was so much easier to deal with academic and social stress, finally in 10th I made pretty much the boldest decision I could've and practically demanded to be let out of the special needs program. In my eyes, for years they did absolutely nothing to help me, so I managed to get out of it right in the middle of tenth grade, near board exams which was a risky move because end of 10th grade have some of the most "Important" exams of high school- welp, they went decent. hjehgffdhjemsdbn anyway long story short- Sometimes all you need is a person who's willing to be patient with you and genuinely help you out, this movie did a great job at portraying that

Hi Nathan, this was a lovely review but I’d like to note that in India mental health awareness isn’t really widespread, especially at the time this movie came out. You might be surprised but this movie helped so many people realise their child can have a reading disability and isn’t just purposely being a slacker in their studies. Also I’d recommend Pink, Section 375, Dear Zindagi, Chak De India and Munna Bhai series.
i cant believe I cried even tho it was only in parts. This movie has considerably made huge impact on Indian society. The one thing that's sad about India is that marks is everything. Your worth is defined by your report card. But here's the catch - the rank holders, class monitors, top ten holders, teacher's pet, last ten holders, students who failed - we are ALL DEALING WITH life's good, bad & the worst. I also had dyslexia until grade 5 I remember my mother used to scold me and my class mates make fun of me, I also joined tuition at very young age and my sister topper in every subject used to teach me but she was a very bad teacher. My father committed to me and teach me how to read and after his work, he used to make me read books 📚. After so many years of reading english and hindi books I started understanding letters and words and started to top in my class and the ones how used to bully me started to praise me even my mother started to take credit but anyways, my mother, father, sisters and teachers I hate most they are so arrogant 😒
Unfortunate to hear that. Some are unfortunately very closed minded indeed. Glad to her things worked out though. (edit) Thanks heaps for sharing as well.
Hi new subscriber ❤️. That's how Indian education system are till this day. During our childhood times we're always beaten by hard cane stick either in hand or buttock from our teachers for not doing home works, being disobedient or not being attentive inside the class, we used to get bruises black and blue but we're used to it. Every Indian students have experienced this , beating with sticks are very common in Asian countries I guess . 😀😂
Wow, that's unfortunate to hear it's still like that. Instead of questioning why they didn't do homework or are being disobedient; it's instead resulted to control and fear. Thanks for sharing your experience.

It's very taboo or ppl are scared in India, if there kids are abnormal , in any way, they really loose all hopes when they hear "abnormal", so this movie is kinda revolutionary, for indians, cuz I believe ppl in West accept there kids no matter what problem or abnormalities they have, but that's totally opposite case in South Asia, that's why this movie changes millions of ppls perspective and way of thinking, in India ppls only knows corporate or productive jobs, we can make career through this jobs, they didn't consider "art field" as a career options. That's why I called earlier this movie was revolutionary for indians. Hats off to amir khan, who brings such topic in front of us👏
5th or 6th grade is the age when we can understand if a child has dyslexia. Generally we cannot understand if a child is dyslexic or not.And dyslexia is not any brain problem or brain disfunction but it's caused by genes. In survey it's found that if a child has dyslexia but his/her other siblings are intelligent or excellent in studies . And generally they are a lot of introvert type and like spending time alone.Everything here is just a play of genes.

@@rushabhshah.2768 ausi dillon channel has reacted to znmd queen live. Whole movie on RUclips. They loved it and laughed at the funny parts too. Loved the songs too. And not all western audiences have done that. That bachelor trip is expensive for anyone to do. Road trip with expensive hotels, tomatina festival, love stories, self discovery journey, all the sports which all of them r not available everywhere in the west and very few have done it . Its not just about that. The main plot is all about self discovery, love story, bromance, and understanding life in general. Ppl have loved dil chahta hai too which has cheap road trip. Its never about these things but always about stories and emotions which is universal.
this one of my favourite amir khan movies ❤ a lot of my friends thought that it draged in the first part but in my opinion it was almost necessary to connect with Ishan and really put yourself in his shoes... loved your reaction.
I really would love to see you react yo the movie "the message" it's an old historic movie, really a classic and a rare master piece. it got two versions one in Arabic, which is my all time favourite and an English one that is really good too❤
I agree with that point of the runtime. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the recommendation!
Even in India no one does homework in highschool
No one even studies for school tests
This film is Pure Cinematic Gold and is ICONIC for all Indians, Aamir Khan's movies are not entertainment they are CHANGE!, trust me Nathan this movie made the whole of India think about mental health and learn it's importance, that's why Aamir Khan's movies are CHANGE,The first movie that struck a chord with the minds of the people of India who experienced the things that Ishaan dealt with,Darsheel Safari was BRILLIANT in this film,he is real heavyweight in acting, to be that young and to perform so well that you keep entertaining the audience that was accustomed to Masala films to keep watching until Aamir Khan entered isn't an easy job, which Darsheel did, also considering the time of the entrance of Aamir in the film,it was late, so proud to belong to the country from where Aamir Khan was born, he is our National Pride, One of the Greatest Actors in the World,We Love Aamir ❤.
If I could recommend two movies, it would be My Name is Khan and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Eww wtf
Bad recommendations 👎
ZNMD defiantly
Great review Nathan. Btw.. This was Indian's submission for the 2008 Oscars (Foreign film category).
Next recommendation : Gangs of Wasseypur (1 & 2) - (Gangster/Crime/Action - only Indian movie in Guardian best 100 films of the 21st century) or Drishyam (Suspense Thriller) (Original : Malyalam language, Remake is equally good too in Hindi language, so upto you.)
There is another actor who is always choose a different films , He is Ayushman Khurana. He plays character who questions the society, people and thoughts.
Oh cool he was in the film Andhadhun which I loved! Thanks I'll keep an eye on his films.
I remember watching this in theaters and controlling my tears. This movie was excellent

Fun fact: The disabled children you see in that dance are not actors.
You said you like to go into the movie blind and then explained the whole plot of the movie. Hilarious 😆
That's what he used to do, but for this one he read up apparently because of comments in kgf reactions.
The wave this movie started with understanding one's kids learning patterns and needing to be patient with you kid and awareness of learning difficulties. Especially the time this movie came out mental health was definitely not even considered in India
Yeah you should watch films blindly without any glance..I love that attitude
I really really like the way you edit. I mean its so satisfying. After watching you, I tried watching other youtubers' reviews who have like more than 100k subscribers, but honestly I'm so used to your ways that I couldn't continue their videos.
Good work Nathan❤
I agree, I like his voice too, it's so soothing
I agree, this edit is smooth. After seeing this, other reactions seem choppy
@@whateversan4956 yeah exactly
Wow, great to hear the editing works well!

3. The Lunch Box and Piku- if you want light romantic drama
4. Padmaavat- big banner, period drama - huge production
5. Highway - beautifully presented transformation story … romantic/drama
6. Gully Boy - for Hip-hop, music, rapper
7. Kapoor and Sons - for family drama/romance
8. Ugly - thriller- human psychology
9. Dangal - based on true story; wrestling/ sports
10. Gangs of Wasseypur I and II - gang violence - very complex story - hard to follow but it’s solid

NH10
Luck by chance
Fashion
Baji Rao mastani
Dil Dhadakne do

@@vinaygill9886 besides Lagan I haven’t even heard of these movies- time to update myself… are these movies that good ?? I will definitely watch them !!
@@shree2386 Ohh, these are Tamil and malayalam (finest industry in India) movies, each one of them is great, you must watch these!!!!
@@vinaygill9886 thank you much for the recommendation.. !! I haven’t really explored into other Indian film industries besides Bollywood… but, I know that south movies have always been far more superior (that’s why there are so many remakes in Hindi language ) … I will definitely watch!! Thanks 😊
we hope you share this type of movies to your loved ones .
This channel's underrated but it's gonna grow for sure. Godspeed to you brother. And I understand how the lyrics might mostly seem corny but the translations are pretty straightforward and there's lot of depth that gets lost usually.
Thanks for the encouragement! Yeah, It's unfortunate I can't fully understand the music.
Sometimes I just wish if I were a westerner so that I could also open a yt channel and start reacting to Indian stuff.
I want to recommend the movie Bhool Bhulaiya (2007) to you. It's horror comedy and kind of fun. Another very nostalgic film.

@@nathansreviews3377 someone who actually cared in real word 🫡
@@nathansreviews3377 Hahah yes indeed . it might sound terrible to you but we're used to it even our parents beat us with sticks and we learned a lesson from that experience. I'm from Manipur state Please watch some manipuri songs too and review it. I'll recomend you some song names ( Choirabi, Lira Lira , Natoudo & Ani Suna).🙏🏻❤️
One of the fev movie in my list.😍
Killa (2015)
Highly recommended. A Wholesome Feast for a filmmaker.
It is not in Hindi but Marathi so, Not many people will recommend this but based on your rating system i think this movie will be 13+ points for sure. Wont reveal anything else.
I am subscribing to your channel. And also recommending it to others. I love your no non sense review. Thumbs up for that.
Please watch the movie KILLA. its amazing.
10:47 In India there aren’t any buttons lol.
At 17:35 that character is not from pk or 3 idiots...I was laughing like hell
Man that is funny. Really thought that was him, my bad haha.
I think it's better to go in blind for movies, despite what other people say. You can look up stuff after watching the movie. Anyways great content 👍
Damn!! Indian movies have some magical essence of portraying emotional journeys and emotional characters. How do they do it? Its amazing tbh.
I had the worst panic attack watching this film as a little kid. My mum had been sick for about a year and had just come out of hospital, so it was the first time she had left me overnight anywhere. my aunt put this on and my parents had to come pick me up less than thirty minutes in.
Awww. Thanks for sharing that story. Do you enjoy the film now?
@@nathansreviews3377 yea to be honest i've only now watched it properly its a very good film aamir khan never misses
Sir I highly recommend you to watch" My name is khan " movie it's one of the best works of Shah Rukh Khan

Glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for the recommendations.
I think you missed the end credit(title song), its a kind of a beautiful documentary.
Thank you for reacting to this movie ❤️
Awesome review Nathan, well done. I would recommend delving into other linguistic areas of Indian cinema as well such as Bengali or Tamil cinema, as they are absolute goldmines of brilliance. I'd most recommend Satyajit Ray's Bengal films, like Shonaar Kella or Agantuk(the movie is available in full on RUclips). Peace!
I just finished school, will go to college now and ngl but as a school student I related to this movie and now I'll relate to 3idiots movie

Boarding schools are actually really good. It's a dream of kids to get into one especially in darjeeling or shimla.

46:44 If you're pretty close to animals specially dogs, you may watch Umberto D. Its 1952 Italian neorealist film. You surely don't need to react to it. Its not long just around 1.38 hr. You can find it on YT as well and watch it in your free time. I really love dogs and this movie made to my favourite 4 on letterboxed💞
Thanks for that recommendation. If I don't do a video on it I'll at least do a review on Letterboxd.
Watch listen to classic songs from the 1950s to get a better appreciation for Indian musicians, singers etc golden period which also had Indian classical music plus western influences
Bhajrangi Bhaijan! you will love it so much!
Waiting for PINK or drishyam.
im not sure if youve already seen the classic movie - Drishyam - one of the best for me..hope you can react on that as well
It's very taboo or ppl are scared in India, if there kids are abnormal , in any way, they really loose all hopes when they hear "abnormal", so this movie is kinda revolutionary, for indians, cuz I believe ppl in West accept there kids no matter what problem or abnormalities they have, but that's totally opposite case in South Asia, that's why this movie changes millions of ppls perspective and way of thinking, in India ppls only knows corporate or productive jobs, we can make career through this jobs, they didn't consider "art field" as a career options. That's why I called earlier this movie was revolutionary for indians. Hats off to amir khan, who brings such topic in front of us👏
I've watched this many times, and I still cried 😭
You should definitely check out bajrangi bhaijaan full movie ♥

DANGAL IS S MUST WACH!!
