Okay good weld out but why not do a bend test after?? Noticed majority of the welds done theirs no bend test after, be nice to always see that part done to see how will the weld did fuse together. Theirs always defects no matter how good the weld..
Its an informative video brother. Always defects? Make that make sense for me when it passes an xray in the field... If followed correctly it will pass. Like he said he also had a 9 hour drive after that coupon.
What's the difference between pipe and tube? Pipe has a "weld seam " where as tube is "extruded" so it withstands greater forces of pressure. You are welding on tube not pipe so telling people about the difference is highly important so they don't weld the get themselves or someone else hurt on the job or fired from a job for applying the incorrect weldment on a project!
Typically if it’s in the boiler it’s Boilermaker work and it is called a tube and Boilermakers make the weld the first weld outside of the boiler is the Pipe Fitters weld and they call it a pipe it’s the same schedule material just different terminology

Throw in alloy joint and fighting tape and slammed gap due to bad fit and you got something.

I do this and all other manners of rack welding. Personally restrictive tests still don’t show what you will be dealing with but it is a taste :)
