Correct. Started welding in 1976 retired in 2017. Not only is it tough work but the cold steel will take a toll on you. Hip replacement. Bad knees both scooped to remove bone chips. Receive multiple qourtazone shots in back and shoulders. And have macular degeneration. I miss working with the guys but don't miss crawling around in tanks and boilers
To those who want to know welding try by all means to practice right and left hand welding. By so doing you will be broadening your chances of being a preferred welder.
It was, until he ruined it by running a file/grinder around the toes of the cap. That fails QA here in UK on any high spec work, due to removing wall thickness👎
@@kf8575 - Haha... really? That joint isn't being fitted in a nuclear powered submarine for you to claim that it wouldn't pass UK's code of inspection. @Sean Kean That is correct but under the old certified classification in the Boiler making trade they were termed Pipe welders and most welding registers Lloyds and several others were, and still are registered as Pipe Welders, I think ABS is the exception as you may guess.
@Sean Kean No problem, ABS is the American Bureau of Shipping - US equivalent to Lloyds shipping. I think a lot depends on which country you are in as there are often differences in reference between them, often the US going its own way.

Wow impressive. I had to do a quick repair during a shutdown week. The re tubing job was a few months away. Not that big of a boiler. Would hammer bulging tubes in. A few blown tubes so close together on the wall had to cut a window in the front. weld the back and sides I couldn’t reach through the window I cut out of the tube then weld the window on the front of the tube. I was a pipe welder not a boiler maker. I have no idea if it was something you should do or not. Just had to get it ready to make steam in a few days. I wouldn’t put my stamp on it. The twin boiler was already down for new tubes no steam the plant would be closed. Held up until they had it re tubed. I was young this was back on the 60’s. To code or not to code?? I had a ASTM stamp as I recall. It got three passes almost half only on the inside.
Retired Boilermaker 35yrs, all them non-welding video guys who make welding videos should watch this video, this is why Boilermaking isn't for pipe welding bench welders.
I am doing this in my welding class Corbin was coming out OK but the carbon and stainless filler wire or you have to pump argon in the pipe is difficult Masking tape keep catching on fire
Showed all the easy sides of welding in an Boiler try being 4 deep in the superheats welding in a mirror using both hands and the plant wants to x-ray it them
Boiler tubes are definitely not for everyone. A whole different set of welding skills. Super heats are definitely a chore. Just getting in to them is a bitch.
Boilermakers aren't allowed to weave a cap or any other weld for that matter. Stringers only, you are not supposed to go more than 3x wider than the diameter of your rod. No jack stand walking the cup BS their. Peace

You learn how to push the limits on just how far you can pull that tungsten out. Lol. And how to feed the wire from the inside. And how to feed wire for your tube partner. Them ain’t pipes BTW, them is tubes , big difference……
@@lonewolftech actually, pipe has a seam, tubes don’t. Also pipe is measured using the inside diameter, boiler tubes are measured using the outside diameter. If you had went through an apprenticeship you’d know that.
No offence but tig welding does get much more difficult than this. These are all fairly open access welds, I am a nuclear tig welder on submarines and almost all of our welds are far more restricted than these ones shown. The welding in this video is skillful but its far from the most demanding Tig welding out there.
Cost of living very low in poland. Thats why they flood into western europe, pull the racist card and undercut local tradesmen in order to get work, to then pss off home after a couple of years👍
The welds are very good. The fit up on the tubes in the thumbnail is not good. Some of them have a bad dog leg. The membrane on the new panel should of been split to straighten the tubes up. Most weld techs or even the customers would through and fit over the fit up on the panel.

Wow this is some great tig talent 👍👍 much respect
superb welding skill especially considering the access to your joints .
the biggest and most time saving trick to this kind and amount of welding is to NOT dip the tungsten.
Thanks you mean almost 90 degree of tungsten?
