I'm sorry but I'm not understanding why they are putting a window into these tubes. They're membrane tubes. Use a sky climber inside of the boiler and brother in law them.
I’m a retired Union Boilermaker and I’ve never seen a window weld on a water wall there must be some reason they couldn’t get a sky climber on the inside because it looked wide open inside the boiler
Looks pretty good! We don't usually leave corners that pronounced, but looks like good work. Good conditions, too. Would have liked to see the fireside of the root on that first tube.
Hi, can you please give advice - we weld similar welds on boiler, so called Windows welding - and we have so much porosity when we weld inside. Also we protect root by attaching special ceramic tape on the outside of the root. Maybe gas pressure is too high?
Pipefitters are the best and boilermakers are just below ironworkers and millwrights in welding skills ....I'm just saying but your joke got a big laugh , so good for you comedian !!!

Maybe they have a outage scheduled in the near future and this fix is just temporary. Just a thought.
In the USA we just call it window welding. Please show the rest of the repair process so that the new generation can learn. Good Job 👍

- Haha... I can tell you that those window weld Dutchmen aren't being done with Common Arc standards...
I worked in Power plant before. The is a cost, safety and downtime consideration on using gondola inside boiler

So the root is in essence on the back of the pipe? And then the piece gets welded back in?

In europe its unacceptable method. I bed weld is not thick as wall pipe. Cap i inside pipe is insane idea but i belive its work
