In the end it's just paper and paint and you can always fix most things and you can deffinatly always create it again if you just don't like something you did.

I have always used posts paint pens to customize my collages but I like the better blended you are getting from paint. I am going to try that instead. Bought some of the brushes from the German artist they look beautiful
The advantage to a transfer is no paper edge. The transfer will be flush to the page but gluing on is fine too! You will just have the edge of the paper showing...but you can lightly sand it to minimize it!

Will the image transfer if printed with inkjet printer or does it need to be a laser printer?
Yes it will but use a spray fixative first and do some tests. Ink jet inks can run in this process.
