another tip i found was using Page Up and Page Down to scroll a fixed distance. If your cursor starts roughly where mine did, then you start on wood, two page downs bring you to stone/iron and sometimes diamond, and two more page downs bring you to lowest nether level. you technically can do one page down between stone and nether to get diamond, but its faster to just reset until diamond spawns with iron
