    Absolutely awesome man! While watching TV last night, out of the blue, my system rebooted, but came up with the Red X & 1. I jacked with it for hours, until 5:00 am, because I can't stand when I'm paying for a service, and it croaks, and I couldn't let it go. Of course there's a ton of other "fixes", with either losing everything, or having a technician come out, etc.
    I tried your solution, and the first time it worked! Didn't lose anything, and we're watching TV again! HUGE thanks man, HUGE THANKS indeed! 🤘😎

    Thank you. I had no TV the whole weekends in my room and the living room TV was working but not pausing or recording. Did what you did in the video, now is all back to normal.. Well, not all, lost all my recordings, bt at least is workingman.. Thank you..

    I seriously wanted to thank you for this, mine was popping up with the x & a red 8 but this method worked, never would have known! Thought forsure I was going to just have replace the box,

    thank You for posting we have power outages all the time and tonight we lost power for about 3 hours and one tv had this red x thank you it is now working

    This worked for me and I did not lose all my recordings.
    "To avoid losing your saved programs, perform the Non-Disaster Recovery for DVR/Receivers:
    1. Unplug the receiver or DVR power cord from the wall or back of the box.
    2. Wait 10 seconds.
    3. Plug in the receiver and DVR.
    4. When three white dots appear on the screen, unplug the receiver/DVR again.
    5. Repeat this process two more times.
    6. Plug the receiver/DVR back in on the third time and leave in. Three white dots appear followed by a gear with a status bar at the bottom of the screen. If the Recovery screen does not appear, repeat the steps above.
    If you are still experiencing issues with you DVR after that, perform a Disaster Recovery on the device."

    Nice!...was on hold with tech for 30 minutes, while on hold I searched YT and came upon your video...less than 10 minutes cable was back on, I don't even mind recordings were deleted...thanks!!

    I'm adding a note here in case anyone needs it. This method formats the hard drive, but usually, if you need this process, you weren't getting at your recordings either way.

    Alan, I had the two gears just fine, but after the line finished at the bottom, it went back to the red x with the 1 . Any suggestions? THANK YOU from Canada

    My tv had the red x and 5. It went through the gear, two gear progression, ultimately still came up with the red X 5.

    When you unplug the power on the box and press the ok and down 1 minute 3 dots and 1 gear and a progress bar and 2 gears and another progress bar
    And the red x and gery 1

    You see guys!! it is really easy to do it!! But the most of you can't do it even if we explain many times. We explain all process you have to do but not you are just upset for things that you can fix easy. And if it does not work restar the RG and then do this process on the video.

    Doesn’t work. Plug power in, goes straight to gear and progress bar before I can press buttons. After bar finishes, it goes back to X1

    yeah i tried resolving it on my own and just turned it on and off and it was a gear and a bar filling up then the screen went to blue then it went to 2 gears and a bar filling up and the it stopped and wouldnt work so i was trying to find a video and yours was the closest one because yours is 1 and red X mine is 3 and red X anyways i did exactly what you said and it didnt work
    edit: plugged out hdmi and power cord and turned it off and plugged network cord out and plugged them all back in and switched it on and held ok butten and down arrow at the same time then the gear and loading bar thing came up and after it was done loading it went to blue screen and then went to two gears loadinng then went back to ❌ 3

      Uverse is very glitchy..we reboot the modem at least once a week.

    Hi, unfortunately I could not resuscitate my device. In my appears 3 white balls, the LEDs flash 2 times and then goes to a gear on the screen and stays for a while and then goes to an X and the recording led starts flashing and does not come out of that.
    I know you can help me in this mystery.
    I would be very happy if you could give me a light regarding this device Pace PLC 2011 Mod: IPH8005 LIVE.

    every time you complain to the company you can get credit on your bill. so regardless of whether you fix it report it so you can have the lack of service on record. it may give you grounds to cancel the contract. a slim chance but a chance.
