The secret is, to never take too short. Millimetres at a time. I am not a hairdresser!! I had a disaster a few years ago when the whole top section of my hair broke off, leaving me looking like Suzi Quattro feather cut. (Due to a bad colour) I left it for two years with no visit to the hairdresser, cutting my own bangs/fringe every month. I found this tutorial, and thought I could apply it to my fringe. With such success, I thought I would try applying it to every section of my head, not JUST my bangs. I sectioned off carefully inch by inch, combing the hair forward from the front to the nape, and employed the twist method to every section exactly as tutored. I now have THE BEST haircut I have ever had in my life. A soft, coup sauvage layer cut that everyone admires and I did it myself! I can’t thank you enough.

The best part is...I've never cut hair before. and it turned out beautiful. Mahalo from Hawaii Nei.

ATTENTION TO PPL WANTING TO DO THIS BY THEMSELVES
This videos is for when someone else cuts your bangs, if you want to do it yourself, you need to grab your hair with your LEFT hand and twist it with to your RIGHT, and then grab with your right hand and cut it. (I am right handed, If you are left handed you grab it with your right hand and twist to the left, you basically want to do the OPPOSITE he is doing, because its from YOUR perspective)
PS: Remember to twist it OUTWARDS. Hope this helps!

This was really helpful for me!! I have a high forehead and straight and pretty thin hair. I made mine a little shorter and it still worked well. I also cut across the bangs in little snips with the shears pointed straight upward. This gives a little more wispiness to the bottom of the fringe, which is what I need with such straight hair! Still really wonderful and helpful!
