Noah, I just gotta say I love how objective you are whenever you do phone reviews. I'm an iPhone 4 user, but I loved seeing your comments about the pros and cons of both the iPhone 4 and the Droid Incredible. Keep up the great work!
I miss my Droid Incrdble 1 :( But hated verizon!! Funny the 4.3 inchers were considered HUGE. But newer tech has made it possible to have a larger screen thats thinner and lighter these days. Now Im rocking a SG3 with 4.8". Light and thin as a feather..even with otterbox :P
Great review! Yours is the most in-depth review and comparison of the two phones I've seen so far! Now I already own the iPhone 4 and I'm happy for the most part with it. It truly is a great piece of technology aside from some of the obvious flaws. But apple's press conference really pissed me off. So this weekend, i'll be visiting my local Verizon store and checking out both the Droid X and the Incredible to decide for myself whether either phones warrants my abandoning apple and the iPhone 4.
Phonedog reviews are amazing, I love watching them very very much....only one complaint though....so to say... On the most other videos on youtube the sound is much stronger, not the quality but the volume....could you please do something about this cuz I'm watching phonedog often on my laptop (macbook)....it would not be bad if the 5.1 speaker system was connected to it, but on the crappy laptop speakers when the volume is turned to the max the sound is still sooooooo weak....
Yo Noah! Please fix the audio in your videos. Theyre really low compared to others, plus the sound seems like you're a bit too far away from the mic. Great vid though!
@phonedog. Umm can u please inform people on your next vid that the HTC incredible is soon getting an update that allows the incredible to shoot 720 p HD videos and it allows it to turn into a mobile hotspot. Yeah just putting that put there.
thanks for this in-depth review...will be upgrading (Verizon user) this September and am thinking about the HTC Incredible and the Droid X. Gotta play with them though since form factor is a huge thing (the Droid X might be too big). Of course by September, who knows what else might be out :P
@nebuk ... It doesnt look like the droid incredible at all, and ive read something on a site that htc driod incredible comes to europe. Soo, im all confused right here. Explain it to me.
I think Noah needs a better mic! I always have to turn up the volume after the music intro's because its so quiet... Thumbs up if you think so too! Great video!
I agree with him, all hose droid X and HTC evo are way too big to be of any interest to me. I want something just small enough to be easily portable and pocket friendly
i think you should do a dogfight with the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Captivate that just seems like a better dogfight it just makes more sense to have some dogfights between phones on the same network because a lot of us will not want to change networks.
@bhavi141 Don't the Evo and the Incredible have the same processor and screen resolution? They are also made by the same company and were released around the same time. I would say that the main difference in performance would be the network they were on. All of that in mind, I don't see how either one could be much better than the other. Just saying...
a little tip, the droid incredible's camera is capable of taking better pictures, you just have to play with the settings. From My Own Experience with My Own. And soon the the Droid Incredible is going to get an OTA update that supports 720p video capture.
thats funny how he said in 4:00 how he said Verizon has more coverage in the San Francisco Bay area when AT&T's coverage is 5 bars while Verizon's is two.
Dear phonedog, the glass on the iphone is extremely hard to shatter because it is the same glass used in military helicopters and commercial planes. only if you throw it on the ground a hundred times in a row it will break. just want you to know :)
I think that Android OS and iPhone OS are really good for each other. The competition from each forces the other company to bring more innovation and reliability to their product.
@spikeman23 , oops wrong phone, i have the htc inspire. AT&T 4g isn't the greatest, just a boosted 3g technology (HPSA+), there is no industry widely accepted format of 4G, pretty much each company can have their own definition of 4th gen technology.
@panicandfoblvr I think a lot of viewers and myself included just want to see what's out there, and would like to see two phones compared, nothing more nothing less. Regardless of what network they are on. Of course I do see your point and you make a valid one. For example a comparison between the Droid X and HTC Incredible (going with your itinerary).
I'm about to return my second Droid Incredible. It gets a very good signal, but the call quality is poor. Voice quality sounds very compressed, words get clipped off and it simply doesn't perform adequately as a phone. Too bad, because everything else about this device is fantastic. Unfortunately, Verizon has nothing to say except that they are aware of the problem and a patch is due to come out sometime. Do I trust them? Unfortunately no. I don't want to be stuck with this phone for 2 years.
@genestarwindjf80 because that iphone isnt the new iOS.. the formula to show the antenaa is wrong but the new software update would of show it less bars
This is really the first time I'm hearing about the proximity sensor. I haven't had that problem at all and to my understanding those with the yellow spots don't have them anymore. The only problem I would say is the death grip issue, besides that the phones perfect in my opinion. That's just me.
Currently have an Incredible, have had it for about a week, honestly I will run this phone until my 2 years are up, it is awesome. I love android with sense, and it just does everything great, movies, music, games, apps, etc. Not that the iphone 4 doesnt do that stuff great, I just get to make phone calls too :)
i have the hTc incredible 4g from AT&T. I did have the iPhone 3Gs and liked it until it kept dropping calls pissing me off, so I returned it for the hTc. Love the hTc prefering the droid OS over the iPhone IOS.
@flaper41 it makes phone calls just fine. apple demonstrated yesterday that ALL cell phones have issues depending on where you hold them. i am open to new technology, but there has yet to be a smartphone released thats better than the iphone. android isnt even close. its cluttered and buggy.
The glass is a little higher end then glass you find on sunglasses. I do like the incredible, but the step cutout on the back of the phone seems like it might make it hard to use on a solid surface. I have used my wifes iPhone 4 and it is a great phone. If the incredible is close or even the same phone in performance and price I wouldn't even think about leaving Verizon to get an iPhone. To touch on the bugs with prox sensor and the signal issue my wifes phones has none of these problems.
@RileysWill the original droid is still selling out like crazy. Im not sure what you mean by outdated other than meaning another brand of phone coming out with android on it. But software wise my droid is running the latest software(2.2 froyo) while my cpu on the original droid is clocked at 1.2Mhz(1.2Ghz). Check the stats on those new phones and you will see that old droid kicks the shit out of most new phones.
i have the hTc incredible 4g from AT&T. I did have the iPhone 3Gs and liked it until it kept dropping calls pissing me off, so I returned it for the hTc. Love the hTc prefering the droid OS over the iPhone IOS. The hTc has a bigger & crisp screen. The flashlight feature is REALLY bright, does eat the batt though.
@SergiPhone I strongly disagree because each and every year that the new iphone comes out it always seems to have issues that NO OTHER phone seems to be having I mean this years iphone is showing full signal strength where it has little or no signal at all last years iphone had a record number of returns due to the fact that they where not working at all and also keep in mind that both Black Berry and Android phones have already been out sellng the iphone in the first part of this year.
I have an incredible and my sister has an iphone 4 so i've gotten both hands on. If the iphone has anything on the incredible it's the app store, but as far as overall devices, Incredible hands down. Better camera, widgets, more options.
hey noah y do you think verizon phones always have skinnier display width wise droid droid x droid incredible ally fathom almost all touchscreen displays are skinnier look at iphone and droid incredible iphone way wider screen but droid incredible longer i dont like that!!!!!!
Of all the touch screen that i use, only iphone has the most res ponsive in terms Of usability. Plus many apps that can be downloaded The fun never ends
The thing that I dont like about the android is that they all dont run the same platform. Some run 1.6, some run 2.1, 2.3 or the soon to come 2.3. You never know if or when your particular droid will be updated or if it will be discontinued (i.e Droid Eris). I've use two droids Eris and Incredible and they a both buggy...
These two are really great phones but honestly in my opinion, the iPhone 4 is better than any phone in the world right now. Mainly because of the way it operates. No other phone operates so smoothly. Yea this one has a few little bugs but we can wait for a software update. Usually the problems are within the software and can be fixed easily. Honestly all these other phones, their problems usually stay the same. I work with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon and I have personally used and reviewed all
@FR0MDAS0UTH which phone does that? oh wow theres ton. search just youtube if you want to see examples. its such a big phone they do so much to bring it down nowadays. Even one of my favorite phones, the Nexus One had a huge "issue" with this, but no one knows aside from a few users because it wasn't blown out of proportion. Yet the Nexus is still a great phone, and as is the i4, it doesn't take away from either.
i have the hTc incredible 4g from AT&T. I did have the iPhone 3Gs and liked it until it kept dropping calls pissing me off, so I returned it for the hTc. Love the hTc prefering the droid OS over the iPhone IOS. The hTc has a bigger & crisp screen.
@xanafanadu haha thats a good one! its funny because i actually tested the death grip when i first got it and it actually did it! the bars went down when i held it and back up when i released. but now it doesnt do it anymore which is wierd?
iphone influenced smartphones in so many ways, they really wouldnt be the same without it. that being said, android's taken the design of the iphone and iOS and expanded on it to please a broader range of consumers. both types of phones are fantastic in their own ways, depending on who uses them and what for. there is no clear winner
You guys say wait like 3 months for a new Android phone to outshine the iphone 4. The problem is there most likely won't be one. Companies have been trying so hard to take away the iphones appeal. This phone will still have lots of hype until the next. That is until someone beats the iphones form and functionality.
@yankeebabeex2 I have the iPhone 4 and I've actually dropped it a lot on hard surfaces and never had even a scratch. I will say that it feels really really good in the hand, a lot better than older plastic iPhones. Droid Incredible is hands down my favorite Android phone though so tell me how you like it!
@killerkommotion credit where credit is due: droid has custimazation, widgets, a lot of choices for products. iphone: reliable, speed, apps. depends on what you want. ur the first droid lover dude to not cuss up a storm at me, congrats, thanks. agree to disagree?
@TheArfdog You already know im gonna disagree with you. I just think its gonna come down to this, apple is apple android is android. They shouldnt be compared simply because their users are completely different and they offer very different things. Android is about being you and customizing it completely. Apple is about being apple and thats not so bad if you jailbreak right. But my point is what we get from the two os's is totally different so it wouldnt be fair for me to say apple is better.
Noah, I just gotta say I love how objective you are whenever you do phone reviews. I'm an iPhone 4 user, but I loved seeing your comments about the pros and cons of both the iPhone 4 and the Droid Incredible. Keep up the great work!

Nice review. At 9:05 the iphone sure loaded the website faster than the Droid. The camera and screen on the iphone 4 is awesome.
Phonedog reviews are amazing, I love watching them very very much....only one complaint though....so to say...

great video Noah!! Top 2 phones on market right now!

You should make a review of the Galaxy S, Noah.
the antenna is the phone case itself so your hand can block the signal at certain spots while holding it.
@nebuk ... It doesnt look like the droid incredible at all, and ive read something on a site that htc driod incredible comes to europe. Soo, im all confused right here. Explain it to me.
Still waitin on a iPhone durability test Noah, if u don't mind.......?????
I think Noah needs a better mic! I always have to turn up the volume after the music intro's because its so quiet... Thumbs up if you think so too!
Great video!
@Warhound360 so are you suggesting that all the hoola about at&t is not true? or does that hit a sore spot?
Ugh still can't decide which one for my upgrade!
what's happening with Blackberry, are they not going to respond with any new phones?
I agree with him, all hose droid X and HTC evo are way too big to be of any interest to me. I want something just small enough to be easily portable and pocket friendly

you got to get a mic closer becuase my volume is all the way up on my macbook pro, and its still quite
a little tip, the droid incredible's camera is capable of taking better pictures, you just have to play with the settings. From My Own Experience with My Own. And soon the the Droid Incredible is going to get an OTA update that supports 720p video capture.

I got my incredible 3 days ago, is the best phone i've ever owned, i'm so happy
I think that Android OS and iPhone OS are really good for each other. The competition from each forces the other company to bring more innovation and reliability to their product.
how did u get all these phones? you have i wann have lots of phone to?
say i want to buy a iphone4. can i use it w/o activating it like if i just want to use the ipod and the camra? plz some1 reply
Don't you dare drop that Incredible!
@phonedog Wait Noah which network would you preffer Sprint or Verizon?
@spikeman23 , oops wrong phone, i have the htc inspire. AT&T 4g isn't the greatest, just a boosted 3g technology (HPSA+), there is no industry widely accepted format of 4G, pretty much each company can have their own definition of 4th gen technology.
There was just something about the droid incredible. The good old days wrapped up in this video.
Believe it or not, I'm actually in this video
@panicandfoblvr I think a lot of viewers and myself included just want to see what's out there, and would like to see two phones compared, nothing more nothing less. Regardless of what network they are on. Of course I do see your point and you make a valid one. For example a comparison between the Droid X and HTC Incredible (going with your itinerary).
@popzinger5 you could wait a couple months for verizon to obtain the iphone 4, if not you have a lot of android phones you could choose from

I cant wait for the HTC droid incredible to come out in The Netherlands!
:D I wanna buy ett!
I was planning to get my first Android device soon but opted for an iPad instead.
Where did u get those phones
@billetudo exactly u had to jailbreak it for the sick stuf u dnt need to do anything fancy for the droids
@adam7528 He meant that it'll kill both phones with its processing power, not number of issues.
@genestarwindjf80 because that iphone isnt the new iOS.. the formula to show the antenaa is wrong but the new software update would of show it less bars
This is really the first time I'm hearing about the proximity sensor.

Droid Incredible now captures 720p
Please, please, iPhone 4 vs HTC desire!
Can anybody tell my what app that is wit the green "b" icon?? I see it in most of his vids and I want to see what it is.
MAN HOW MANY PHONES DO YOU HAVE!
i have the hTc incredible 4g from AT&T. I did have the iPhone 3Gs and liked it until it kept dropping calls pissing me off, so I returned it for the hTc. Love the hTc prefering the droid OS over the iPhone IOS.
where is part 2?
@flaper41 it makes phone calls just fine. apple demonstrated yesterday that ALL cell phones have issues depending on where you hold them. i am open to new technology, but there has yet to be a smartphone released thats better than the iphone. android isnt even close. its cluttered and buggy.

my verizon iphone 4 is supposed to be here on february eighth!!!!!! I CANT WAIT!!!!!!

@genestarwindjf80 no flash? iphone 4 does have flash
the incredible is bigger than the evo???
The iphone 4 screen looks amazing !
@RogueStatusAWOL
it stands for active-matrix organic light emitting diode
I have an incredible and my sister has an iphone 4 so i've gotten both hands on. If the iphone has anything on the incredible it's the app store, but as far as overall devices, Incredible hands down. Better camera, widgets, more options.
hey noah y do you think verizon phones always have skinnier display width wise droid droid x droid incredible ally fathom almost all touchscreen displays are skinnier look at iphone and droid incredible iphone way wider screen but droid incredible longer i dont like that!!!!!!
@G58 But i will give the iPhone one thing. The retina display.
any 1 know where to get a iphone 4 for a good deal
why noah taking so long to do iphone 4 vs galaxy s come on damn lol
Of all the touch screen that i use, only iphone has the most res ponsive in terms
Of usability.
Plus many apps that can be downloaded

@slantblant california is basically around 75 degrees all year...
@xOGBxConnorr just because the sensor is bigger doesn't mean that the sensor is better, all it means is that the picture is going to turn out bigger.
@erniemartinez7 Jailbrekaing isn't anything fancy it's just an 8-20 minute process
:)
@FR0MDAS0UTH which phone does that? oh wow theres ton. search just youtube if you want to see examples.

Surprising dogfight, but still very interesting
iPhone navigates fast yet so smoothly, nothing's like it.
too bad the incredible wont be available til august.....
@thechubbyman thats maybe cuz u kept your iphone 3g on the back!
@xanafanadu
haha thats a good one! its funny because i actually tested the death grip when i first got it and it actually did it! the bars went down when i held it and back up when i released. but now it doesnt do it anymore which is wierd?
@Warhound360 all im arguing is that verizon has been proven to be more consistent in coverage than at&t.
@piwoodhouse They're probably not his. He just does the videos for his job so they probably supply them for him.
iphone influenced smartphones in so many ways, they really wouldnt be the same without it. that being said, android's taken the design of the iphone and iOS and expanded on it to please a broader range of consumers. both types of phones are fantastic in their own ways, depending on who uses them and what for. there is no clear winner

@JustMeowMeow eeeehhh dude... it's for sale in the Netherlands for 6 months now. It's called the HTC desire in Europe.
@fonesmart123 actually if you drop it 4 times, check out engadget's drop test.
@killerkommotion credit where credit is due: droid has custimazation, widgets, a lot of choices for products. iphone: reliable, speed, apps. depends on what you want. ur the first droid lover dude to not cuss up a storm at me, congrats, thanks. agree to disagree?
The Droid Incredible will be getting an air update soon. Making it capable to record in 720p HD ad Hotspot Wifi =D
you don't read your mail on iPhone huh
@IHuntLygers I have an Incredible and I'm very happy with it. The only real drawback is the battery life.
u just reviewed da 2 best phones out there :)
@TheArfdog You already know im gonna disagree with you. I just think its gonna come down to this, apple is apple android is android. I'm going to AT&T because they're data plans are 14.99 and verizons are 30.00 plus all the other stuff like texting and minutes
i hate how your videos end randomly
Dude you have an office?
people forget about the palm pre plus, it is still a very capable phone that no one seems to care about which is too bad
The new Samsung phones at 4" isnt too big. That might be the perfect size for a bigger screen and pocketable phone.
