“Whatever you’re worried about right now, you probably won’t think about it in a month from now, or maybe even a week from now. So take a deep breath and relax. All is well.” ✨
Worth mentioning because I've experienced it countless times. Sometimes after you get out of sleep paralysis, you're still feeling sleepy enough to stay in the same position and close your eyes to go back to sleep... You might end up in sleep paralysis AGAIN if you do that! Best thing to do in that situation is to fully wake up (get up to get some water or something) and then go back to sleep.
when i get them i get multiple times. when i wake up middle of the night to use the bathroom and if i don.t fall back to sleep in 5mins i,ll get sleep paralysis when i try to fall back to sleep. and if that happens to me. i get signs to when im about to get one. it starts with a ringing sound in my head. what i do is i just get back up and walk around for few mins then sit down on my bed for 15 mins then go back to bed and i,ll fall back to sleep with no sleep paralysis and i get a good night sleep. and yeah when i do get of sleep paralsis i,ll feel to sleepy to get back up and close my eye again and then im in sleep paralysis telling my self why did i just not get up. i got saved in sleep parralysis twice in my life. the 1st was from my friends dog. the dog jumped on me and i got out of sleep paralsis right away. and the 2nd time was in my room when i woke up to go bathroom. did not fall sleep in 5mins and when i tryed to fall back to sleep. sleep paralysis again. and while i was in it. my phone was in my pucket and my phone was on vibrate. my friends text me and the phone vibrated and woke me up out of sleep paralysis.
I had sleep paralysis twice last night both right after each other. I've never had sleep paralysis prior to last night so it was very bizarre and scary, but I was able to convince myself that it was all just in my head because luckily I've already learned about sleep paralysis years ago. Despite knowing that what I was hallucinating about wasn't real I still felt an extreme amount of stress.
This literally just happened to me and has happened a few times in the past. I have had SPD for 30 years now. It had diminished for some years, then my son was murdered and it came back. Stress is a major cause, and while it's been 6 years since his death, I still get attacks at least once a month, sometimes more. Sometimes, I go a month or 2 without an attack. There is no predicting it. Used I couldn't even make a sound during an attack. Now I'm able to moan, and my husband will wake me up. But tonight, he woke me up, and I fell right back to sleep and into paralysis. This time, I could mumble words and ask him to help me sit up. So he did, and I got up and took my PTSD sleeping medicine. It prevents dreaming. I'm going back to taking it every night now. Since the attacks have been more frequent. I know my insomnia makes it worse, but the insomnia is caused by the fear of having an attack. It's a catch 22 with disorder. I have tried giving in, and it only makes my panic worse. My sleep demon is just a dark figure or feeling the presence in the room. Tonight it was a dream and I was actually out of the bed, walked to the kitchen because a light came on and there were 2 beings around the corner of my fridge and I was telling them to get out of my house. That's what my husband heard, but it was just moaning to him. And it doesn't matter what position I sleep in now. It happens anyway if it's going to. I wish ot would stop all together. But I have lived with it for so long I just deal. I'm seeing psychiatrist and have been on Valium for a while to help me sleep, but another med I take is counteracting it. It maybe time for some ambien or another sleeping pill. So this is a good tip, definitely get up for a few minutes and move around to prevent going right back in. Thanks for letting me word vomit on your Comment...lol
@@Armand10ify so because you never experienced something, you take a cheap stab at a more experienced human? You might be a millenial... Then again, you just might be another funny guy who was born yesterday.
Yeah haha sometimes I can actually feel myself going into sleep paralysis and I just start shaking my head and trying to force myself to stay awake until I can move again it really does feel like something bad is gonna happen if you let yourself stay on that state I stopped opening my eyes during sleep paralysis because everything seems real af I can get the "between realms" comment like that state between being awake and asleep opens some gate that allow your inner demons in Hey that would make a great story!
@Teresa Matzin so, the repeated emojis signifying laughing to the point of tears was not bullying? Ok, boomer. Back to the almond cookie factory with you.
I've had sleep paralysis since I was in my mid-teens (27 now) and the don't let the eyes wander tip is definitely a key for dealing with it. I can usually tell when they are coming because I will hear a ringing in my ears, so I start small movements and focus on my breathing to escape the paralysis. A few times I've actually been able to fully get up and move while my mind is still hallucinating so my first instinct was to punch the apparitions...but when I fully wake up, I'm like damn ok I literally just tried to throw hands with a sleep paralysis demon lol
I’m 14 and I’ve been depressed since the past two years and I have been extremely stressed so now I’m scared to sleep YAY ANOTHER THING TO WORRY ABOUT :D
@@Kazarijyanainoyonamidawa it’s usually terrifying and you could feel very helpless in the beginning but with practice you can overcome the fear and use the altered state of mind to gain insight into your being
I'm still amazed at a feat of logic my brain performed at 3 o'clock at night: - I see you clearly - I'm lying in bed with my glasses off - If you were real, you'd be blurry --> you're not real q.e.d.
Also another way to escape a sleep paralysis is to stay calm and close your eyes and hold your breath for around 5 - 20 seconds because since your body thinks its still sleeping it will wake up because you aren't breathing.
@@chahansudawiguey5176 I imagine so, if you ever have that fake falling feeling while trying to sleep that’s your brain sending a single to your body to make sure you’re not dying and actually sleeping. This same signal could be triggered possibly by holding your breath minus the falling feeling
the last time I had sleep paralysis, I listened to thoughts to relax and didn't resist, it was the worst thing I did, every time I exhaled and relaxed my body, I was overcome by even stronger shackles and the feeling that someone is sucking energy from me and feeling its presence is getting stronger. I started to resist with all my might and it disappeared, I felt so relieved, remember we live in a spiritual world.
Very true, do not relax, instead move frantically, it helps. The more relaxed, the more strong the outside force is, based on experience. During sleep paralysis, our mind is awake but body is asleep, so it causes stress in the mind. But trust and MOVE your body to wake up, move fast. & theres another comment saying breathe in & out fast, might want to do that next time.
Hey you. Everything is going to be okay. 1. Don't let your imagination run wild 2. Don't believe what you see 3. Don't focus on the visions 4. Don't panic (at the disco) =) 5. Don't struggle. Pro tip slowly wiggle your hands & toes instead 6. Don't let your eye wander. Close your eyes instead. 7. Don't expect the worst. This too Shall pass. So, What can you do? Please go see a medical professional. Frequent Sleep paralysis is serious. Take a deep breath. Stretch the corners of your mouth upwards. May all your worries wash away and you find pockets of peace throughout your day 💗 Dr. Liz
I usually get them when I nap during the day. The best way to handle it imo is to keep your eyes closed and try to move/wiggle your extremities. Sleep paralysis used to freak me out sooo much but if you can get through it and realize it’s a dream you can go into a lucid dream
One thing this video doesn’t mention is how it feels like you are suffocating when this happens because you don’t breathe as deeply in your sleep! For me, that’s the worst part.
5:31 Actually, struggling is what releases me from the paralysis. After having it a good number of times, I know what's the amount of force required for me to "escape" sleep paralysis and it usually works. Sometimes I'm just too tired/lazy to do that though, and the technique showed in the video helps a lot.
Same but this one was a little confusing. I was in it for awhile but for some reason I didn’t decide to try and wake up for awhile I was kinda like dazed almost thinking of other things. Good thing I was thinking of memes instead of creepy stuff 😂
Yeah I use all the strength in my body to break out. And I’m always successful when doing it. But right after you break out, your upper chest/throat area feels uncomfortable for a few seconds. And I haven’t seen or heard anything weird like the rest of you. I just can’t move
I do, at this point when it's happening I just get mad at the hallucinations and stare at them with anger. I wake up almost instantly this way. Also, I put a lot of pressure on moving my body, like trying to get there and fight them:))) It still fucks up my night tho, maybe 'cuz I'm the type of person who can't fall asleep fast, even if I wake up in the middle of the night or if I'm tired.
i always hear loud screaming in my head while having sleep paralysis and whenever i woke up from it i get really really sleepy and just fall to the sleep paralysis again-
I've been dealing with SP since I was about 10. I'm 22 now. It happens for me about every year , probably between 1-10 times a year depending. Usually multiple times a night. Luckily as I've gotten older it's been way easier to handle because I'm basically a paralysis vet now. It's gotten to the point that I like. Acknowledge I'm going into it before it happens and just ride it out without any problems anymore really
Is there a reason for you to experience it so frequently? Is your sleep schedule bad? Also I had my first ep of sleep paralysis when I was 13, now I had the second one (im 15) because I learnt what sleep paralysis meant
Make a blood test. Check your iron, magnesium and hemoglobine levels. It used to happened to me often, but I had anemia and lots of vitamins deficiencies that triggered sleep paralyisis. Also, open up about any emotional struggle you are going through, that helps a lot to reduce stress. And last but not least don't drink, eat, too sugary food or consume caffeine after 5 pm. That affects the quality of your sleep.
i have one once in a while the worse thing is that my eyes be closed and i cant open them so i dont ever see anything scary i just think a ghost has possessed me then i panic eventually i fall asleep into a dream
Many years ago, I would get sleep paralysis more often, because I slept in a different position then. I stopped sleeping in that position, and ever since, at least that I remember, I haven't experienced it. Typically I was laying on my back with my head turned off to my right, at least when I would wake up. I would have the frightening experience of being in an uncomfortable position, barely being able to move. I also had the feeling that I could barley breathe. I would tell myself to stay calm and fight back with all my willpower, and I would break free fairly easily. I almost miss the experience, its strange.
I get it pretty often and since I’ve been getting more used to it I’ve been pushing the boundaries to see what happens. The most that’s happened to me is so far is hearing footsteps or people talking in reverse.
It’s nuts isn’t it? There is more to this reality than we know or understand. I come out of my body and can get pretty far. I will say it’s a carbon copy of our current realm but muddled and dark like a shadow. It’s a sort of inbetween.
The worse about this is my sleep paralysis is that it was a sound so I couldn't distract myself as it was everywhere. There was a loud banging and clicking, footsteps but worse of all the sound of a young woman laughing moving until she was right next to my ears. I closed my eyes the whole time and forced myself awake.
The worst one I've had is a guy yelling so loud like I was at a concert in front of the speakers at full blast. Only thing was is that his voice was clear. All he did was scream "AHhhhhh"
Its the dumbest thing I've heard in a bit, no wonder it came from a 'psychologist'... Yeah, that figure hovering above my bed is just part of my imagination, I'll try and keep a leash on it.
One of the major causes of sleep paralysis is sleep deprivation, or a lack of sleep. A changing sleep schedule, sleeping on your back, the use of certain medications, stress, and other sleep-related problems, such as narcolepsy, may also play a role👍
I have identified one huge factor that I think is very important in mentioning! That is that unpleasant smells or strong odors in the bedroom triggered my friend's issue with this. Sleeping next to a dirty laundry basket, a filled trashcan, a cat liter box or gerbil cage, or a mildewed area are strong odors and can be but don't have to be reminiscient of unwanted things that you smell while asleep and you want to feel in control of your environment. It can but doesn't have to trigger this. Also, one person's calming smell is not always another person's preference. Lavender is supposed to be calming, but it is not what I want to smell. What do you enjoy smelling? Feel that sensation amd practice returning to it during the day. Being tired can take away your motivation to be self-disciplined. Understandable, but I believe your challenge is to become your own 'genie'. You are loved as much as you may reject that notion as self love and acceptance. I believe it is our soul's purpose. Journaling, daily meditation, and positive affirmation before bed reach the subconscious mind when practiced regularly. I share this only as I wish the viewers here peace. Also, keeping all areas of your life orderly (not compulsively) but especially in the bedroom provides a sense of increasing empowerment. I send you loving prayers in whatever faith you practice or don't practice... it's all energy...but, to me Angels are real. We are meant to feel positively expectant solutions in prayer while accepting that it is your birthright and not praying for what you don't want. Like attracts like. Reading positive literature reaches your subconscious, too. Exercise is always good even if it's just a walk. Many blessings.
Bruh, they don't exist, why would you panick to a bunch of 3d-mental- photoshop-weird-looking-creatures ? Try not to wander with ur eyes around, but if you see them you can either look away and tell urself," if they were still there they would have killed me already" or stare at them and think, "you fool, i'm so cool and so scary that life feels like minecraft baby mode you noobs",i personally prefer the second option. Also if u imagine ur intouchable and they cant even look at you, who do you think ur dreams will hear? You or an hallutination made by you? YOU. So unless you imagine the hallutination attacking you they won't, u're too cool for that B)
And that's how you trick your brain into thinking you're more scarier than all of them scary stuff, and they are scared of you, thank you for comming to my TED talk. - that one girl that stared at the shadows bc she was scared of the dark and telled herself she was just too scary for the stoopid monsters to attack when she was young B)
I experience sleep paralysis and more recently “exploding head syndrome” and all I can say is, as I got less scared of sleep paralysis, it’s adapted over time. So now I don’t get intruder or pressure hallucinations, I get full on dragged from my bed type hallucinations instead.
I experienced this once when i woke up in the middle of the night i wasn't able too move i was in a pillow it was hard to breathe so i had to move until i woke up cause i was afraid to die from suffocating
When ever I’m in a sleep paralysis I just try to move my finger to eventually moving my hand and waking up. I thought everyone knew that, only one time have I thought the worse and I didn’t see anything I just tried to wake up. I’m usually not thinking of anything scary the first thing on my mind is how to wake up or if I’m sleeping.
Almost always after an attack you should get uo, get a drink, use the bathroom. Stay up for a few minutes and then lay back down. Give your body time to clear our the chemical it releases to paralyze you. I am awake watching this because my attack happened, and after my husband helped bring me out, I immediately fell right back into the attack. So he helped me again, but I got up and went out for a smoke (I'm actually quitting and down to about 5 a day, but I needed one after that) I also have a medication for PTSD that I was prescribed and I stopped taking it, because you don't dream or remember dreaming anyways, but I still get it filled every month, so I took that and I'm going back to taking it nightly, because the attacks have become more frequent. I have been dealing with SPD since my early 20s, and I'm 46 now. I went a few years with little to no attacks, and then my son was murdered. They have returned full force. Stress and anxiety are major causes of this disorder, and it sucks cause life is full of stress. Hope this little tip helps.
Usually during sleep paralysis I feel another presence in the room with me. Sometimes I feel the presence sit on the end of the bed. Once I got over my fear and looked at the end of the bed. I saw what looked like me sitting at the end of the bed staring at the me laying in the bed. Another time I was woke up paralyzed feeling great pain but was able to move my eyes downward and saw what looked like two very white arms coming up and out of my arms that were laying on the bed.
For 2, she is absolutely correct. I am a sufferer of sleep paralysis, and it's happened since I was very young, ranging from either 4-5 years old, and I still get it now. Yes, the best way to exit sleep paralysis is to not believe in your surroundings. It may sound hard to do, but once you've gotten the hang of it, It will work. Do not try this with your eyes open, as it reduces the chances of you waking up. Instead, close your eyes. When your eyes are closed, you may think that these hallucinations may be haunting you, or getting ready to spook you. But, no. Closing your eyes will give you the chance to wake up, as blinking will make it worse.
I started experiencing sleep paralysis when I was around 15-16. It was truly one of the most terrifying things that’s ever happened to me, but I am proud to say that over time I started implementing these tips mentioned in the video to help myself. I didn’t even know what was going on, but my first instinct was to stay calm, and not panic. Although I had it pretty easy, because I’ve never had very intense hallucinations (I also always kept my eyes closed). The most common one was when several palms started to get closer and closer to my face, and it became very difficult to breathe. It’s a traumatic experience, but it’s definitely manageable. I recommend trying to move your pinky or your toes, and take it slowly, no need to rush. It’s super difficult, because your body feels like it weighs triple your weight, so just take your time. Also, super important: once you get out of that state, do NOT go back to sleep. To me it’s really difficult, because at those times I always feel extremely exhausted, but try to get up and walk around a bit. After that you’re good to go back to bed. It’s nice seeing this topic being talked about, when I was experiencing it there were barely any information on the web about it, and I always felt super weird about myself. But it’s normal. Take care loves❤️
My version of sleep paralysis is quite different from what is often explained. I tend to get it both during dreams/nightmares as well as when I’m between sleeping and being awake (both before and after sleeping.) I have this happen all the time and I have never once seen a ghost or demon. When it happens during sleep, it manifests itself as a nightmare that involves being stuck in a claustrophobic place or being smothered by something heavy that makes it hard to breathe. It can also manifest itself as being weighed down and feeling too intoxicated to be able to walk/move properly which results in eventually falling down and not being able to get up. If it happens when I’m between sleep and awake, I can never open my eyes and I always desperately start trying to move my arm/hand to generate the momentum to fall off the bed… But it never works. I get it all the time and I’m just used to it by now.
I just going through a sleep paralysis 2 days ago, i literally can't move or speak at all, but this is not my first time having a sleep paralysis. Usually, i'm having a sleep paralysis when my mind or my body is too tired or i just watch some horror movies, or the worst case is i forgot to pray before going to bed and sleeping with an unstable mind. Well, actually, i can say that even though this video is telling is that it was a hallucination, but from my experience, the demons or the "hallucinations" can only be resisted and overcome when i started to speak and calling the name of Jesus:) Trust me, it helps you to awake more faster, when there's no one that possible to wake you up, just call His name, He is always there to help you. Don't forget to pray before you sleep and make sure you are sleeping with a clear mind and a grateful heart. God bless you!
Reading the comment section makes me feel a WHOLE lot better ! It's good to know that you're not alone and other people had the same experience. Who agrees with me ? Here are some tips I found 1. Wiggle your toes 2. Breath heavy and frantically 3.Write or chant a holy name 4. Don't open your eyes and try to relax 5. Forcefully move the tip of your finger 6.Think of something good Try each of them and test which one helps you better . Hope you have a good night.
That's a alot of work my friend if you want them to depart instantly all you need to do is declare Jesus Christ as your lord and savior I mean it's instant. And proven it works for everyone don't hate until you try if your Christian or not!!
@@chriss1011 Just saying - people can have different religions and believes. So, I just said to chant a holy name - which is not specific . Plus, I mentioned that you should try each one to see which one will help the most.
@@chriss1011 They aren't demons though. They're dreams you have while awake and they can become nightmares if you get anxious from your body still being asleep. The religious chant might help calm you down if you're religious, but if you don't try the other tips, your belief in demons might make a nightmare take that shape. I literally had Sleep Paralysis this morning and I didn't open my eyes so I didn't see anything, but I heard shuffling footsteps near the side of my bed. It sounded like some frat bro starting telling me I needed to get up or I was going to be late. In my head I said, Oh hell no and kept my eyes shut. Then heard "Ok bro, gotcha." Then I woke up. So unless the demon from AlphaBetaOmega or whatever wanted to haze me, you're being very silly
I experience sleep paralysis quite often but not regularly, I usually hear voices when it happens, sometimes see things as well, but I wake up from them pretty fast by trying really hard to move my hands and it works most of the time. Thank you for giving more information about that cases, it happens to more people then we think.
Nine times out of ten, my Sleep Paralysis Demon ends up being my cat. She’s black, but she sleeps with her mouth open and her bottom teeth sticking out, with her eyes in that “mostly closed but you can still see them kinda and is asleep so not focusing” state that cats do. So I’ll just barely see these reflective slits and bright white teeth in the darkness, and my mind will want to run away with that. I just kinda focus on feeling where she is, usually asleep next to my legs. The focus on using some other sense to recognize something familiar is generally enough to get me to relax. Helps me ground myself.
My cat who passed away in 2018 saved me today i believe cuz i saw him right wehn i pleaded to wake up he walking in and save dme i love him to death i was thinking about him the other day too
The only reason SP scares me is because its dark. Im not normally afraid of the dark but dreams usually turn into nightmares when its dark and when im in my room.(bad combo) I just always think of the creepy things not to think of and make it worse.
I have literally just woken up from a sleep paralysis episode and immediately looked up what to do to get out of it. The moving your fingers and toes thing is very helpful as i naturally tried doing it in past episodes. Its really scary. I dont see hallucinations, or anything bad. I just see my room but the scary part for me is being numb and not able to move
Knowing me, I'd imagine a black horse slowly come out my closet. Eye sockets empty, dark and hollow. It's mouth would move like a normal human while saying *boop* in a low, gravely voice.
I experienced sleep paralysis about twice in my life so far, and I have to say it's the scariest experience I have ever had. I remember that one time, I hallucinated that there were two "things" coming towards me at high speed under my bed cover. I could see the bed cover "move" and I could feel things coming at me... I imagined those "things" were disembodied hands moving around on their own, moving towards me. I couldn't move, I couldn't speak, I was absolutely TERRIFIED. My body was in a full state of panic and shock, trying to break free and get out of bed, but I just couldn't. It was super scary and creepy. As someone who has been having sleeping issues for the past couple of years, I can't stress enough how important and valuable having a good night's sleep is. Don't neglect your body and your health, people.
@@yaoming7780 Same I was just watching a video about lucid dreams to try for the first time and then I saw a video about sleep paralysis and I'm scared to try or just go to sleep now😭
I try to wake up instantly and I feel there is a devil that want to take my soul, and I think that if that devil take my soul, my life will be end 💀, and I successfully defeat the "devil" called sleep paralysis after I try moving my finger and toes Don't sleep facing to the cloud, try other sleeping position, it can prevent sleeping paralysis
I had a small sleep paralysis moment. Woke up couldn't speak and move. One thing i did was kept my eyes closed and i tried wiggling my fingers really quickly. Workwd like a charm.
I've had sleep paralysis where the dream took place in my bathtub (even though I was actually in my bed) and something was trying to drown me by pushing down on my chest. Drowning is my worst fear. I struggled to get out of it but when I did I was actually out of breath. That's just one of my many scary sleep paralysis stories, and I've felt the pressure on my chest several times. I almost always realize that I'm having sleep paralysis, but that was the only time I didnt. I thought I was going to die. I've learned to keep my eyes closed during sleep paralysis, and it helps so much. Now I usually only get the paralysis part of it, but occasionally I'll feel a presence in the room or feel something touch me.
The tips to get out from sleep paralysis for myself is: 1. Feel your muscles from your toes or anything from your body 2. Hear your eyes doing Rapid eye movement(if you can. If not go to the 3rd one) 3. The 3rd one is the toughest one without the 2nd cause you need to get into sleep with your conciseness(lucid dream) and order yourself to wake up Alternative if you can do no 3: If you feel hear your eyes making humming sound like a motor, try to stop your eyes. If you can you will free from your sleep paralysis If you couldn't do all of them... You just need to wait, longest is 15 minutes. While waiting you rapidly can try 3rd one Edit: Or... You just find another easy way from another people
I suffer from this a lot, and I cannot stress enough that point number 5 is true! Don’t struggle strenuously. I used to do this and made it worse! If I get sleep paralysis, I breathe and relax my muscles. It works. Great video! Thanks for making these types of struggles more well known and creating awareness!!!
Really? Struggling works for me but it is a little hard. This time though it was less of trying and more of thinking, kinda a creepy thought but I thought of kinda peeling my eyelids open with my hands. I think I was panicking a little and had this creepy thought which could’ve also been why it worked 😅
I was 13 the first time I the worst experience with sleep paralysis. At that time I had no understanding that it was medical issue. At first, my eyes opened and didn’t realise I couldn’t move my body. Just laying there with my eyes opened, I started hearing creaking floorboards down the hallway as if someone or something was approaching slowly. The creaking caused by the footsteps became closer and closer and finally reached my door. That’s when I realised that it was very difficult to move. And I saw a large shadowy figure resembling something of a ghost or demon and it continued to approach, the floorboards still creaking closer and closer. My panic made realise it was difficult to breathe as I was not in control and the figure approached me so closely and began to strangle me. I was extremely distraught and finally able to let out a small breath which lead to me screaming and fully waking up. My dad came into the room and asked what happened. And I told him a ghost was trying to kill me, then I went to sleep with my mum and my dad slept on my bed. The next day my dad told me he slept there and that there were no ghosts. At that time I didn’t know about the SP condition and neither my parents so I always chose to sleep in the same room as another family member instead of alone. After learning about the SP condition I was okay to sleep alone. Every time I experience SP, I already equipped with knowledge on what is actually happening and control myself, no more nightmarish figures, only silence and focus. Firstly I try to focus on twitching movement in my fingertips which would allow me to build more movement in my hands. Once I start moving my arm, I am good to go. Another thing I try is focusing on any sounds. I’m my early 20s I lived in an apartment and there would be noises of people outside and cars late at night so I would focus on those noises while being in paralysis to try to wake myself up, because I knew those were real noises and not hallucinations. I don’t get this kind of SP anymore, however I do frequently get the kind where right before dozing off to sleep I start hearing static or ringing noises and a feeling of spinning that that gets so unbearable to the point where I think I might die if I don’t snap myself back awake. In these situations I just get out of bed for a few minutes before attempting to sleep again.😢
I already knew that it's a self-promoter before I even pressed *Read More* Edit: I'm sorry tho. Every youtuber here HAS TO grow their channel in the real way, without self-promotion. Good luck
My mom told me that if ever I'll be in this kind of situation, it's good to try to move my pinky fingers first and just focus on that, set the phrase "I need to move my pink fingers" in your mind so my mind won't create many hallucinations. But while in that process I should try to be calm as possible for me not to trigger more stress. After a while I'll be able to move my fingers or any part of my body and everything will be also fine. She told me that grandma had a sleep paralysis before, and she also had one back when she was in highschool, because of the fear that it might also happen to me she told me this. As of now I haven't experienced a sleep paralysis, and I wish I would never experience such.
This is what just happened to me last night. It was my 2nd sleep paralysis this year. The 1st one was quite horrifying as if someone was choking me and I lost in panic a bit. The 2nd one from last night I focused on admitting I am in a sleep paralysis and decided to move my thumb, and I gradually awaken from sleep lightheaded and dizzy.
Thank you. I have had reassuring sleep paralysis since im 16. This helped me a lot. The first times I got it I read about it on wikipedia and there was a lot of false information. Now I know what it is and I know how to handle it. I've had visual hallucinations first, then auditory as well. When I was sleeping next to someone, I would hear them talk sometimes and then when I confronted them with it, they said they were fully asleep. I would here really loud music, as if I were in a club or people screaming.
.... I was literally just journaling about this less than 30 seconds ago, so..... timing? I guess? So glad you made this so people at least have exposure. If I hadn't heard of it before it happened to me I don't know what I would have done because I 100% came out hallucinating the nightmare I'd just had. It was something called a Tailypo hunting me and I remember realizing I was awake and being relieved and then the voice followed me out and said it was still coming for me. In my head I knew if I could just touch my SO it'd be over for realsies, but I was too far away so I mostly ended up just focusing on moving a finger, which finally worked.... not my favorite. Good luck out there everyone! Sleep well sweet dreams!
@Solo Odyssey I was in a dream in which few men were trying to take a U-turn with their cabriolet with a soft top. As a person who likes to contribute to society, I got off my bike and tried my best to speak to them if they need help but the words were stopped in my throat (in reality). So I tried so hard that I said it in reality. Then all 3 layers of my sleep (3rd is sleep paralysis) peeled up and I woke up at 8:51 am. How you get it.
like you wake up and can move but you pause for a bit and start imagining going on your phone or starting to get dressed or something like that. but you arent actually doing it. its kinda hallucinating mixed with a dream state.
I’m usually unable to speak….but I think Jesus and try to mouth His name as long as I can. It’s a horrible experience and it’s been going on over 40 years now.
Its hard not to panic. When I have an episode and a demon is trying to sufficate me, I try to scream, except I can't because I'm paralyzed. Then my actual screaming wakes me up. My last episode was so terrifying, I stopped sleeping in my bedroom. I sleep on the living room sofa with the tv on. I haven't had an episode since and its been over twenty years. I used to have episodes weekly. I know what causes this and I understand it's a sleep disorder, but it doesn't change the fact, sleep paralysis is terrifying when it's occuring
@@honey9060 well dang I’m sorry if I offended you all I was saying is that I was sleeping and then I got a notification so I woke up and started to watch it
Whenever I do have sleep paralysis the number one thing I always try to do is making myself aware that my body is in a shut down state and my brain is awake, therefore making me relaxed and easy to wake up. Second thing is trying to wake myself up, its kinda hard to do but telling myself to wake up works for me everytime. Because I can't move physically, I train my brain to be more powerful than my physique. You can train your mind to do this :> hope this helps.
the best way to stop sleep paralysis is to close your eyes and breath slowly, when you are panicking, your brain will create more hallucinations, closing your eyes and breathing slowly regulates your blood circulation which calms you down
i’ve had sleep paralysis episodes since i was about 6 (i’m 19 now). it’s gotten to the point where i can wake myself out of it & sometimes see how long i can lay there without freaking out too much
I have been experiencing such things since childhood, I used to think it was part of a nightmare, but recently I found out it is a real thing that many people experience too
I usually feel it when I’m about to have sleep paralysis, so what I do is that I try to wake myself up ( which is quite difficult) , but yesterday I felt it happening and I was like f**k it I don’t care. So I found myself sleeping on my back (although usually I either sleep on my side or stomach ) and there was this black figure that looked like a man but had no facial features , it crawled from the roof the to side of my bed , at this moment I was a bit scared but i knew it wasn’t real so i just kept looking at it . Then it started eating my leg, and I literally felt the pain from it ( if you ever dreamed of a dog biting you then you know what I’m talking about) , at this moment I was fed up so I decided to look to the other side of my bed , which is towards the door , and it wasn’t the best idea.( I live in an apartment by myself so I usually keep the door a bit open ) , a doll like figure opens the door and starts walking towards me and it looked like it had a knife, at this moment I was completely terrified , it got closer and closer and then it jumped on my bed and started crawling on my chest , all of this was happening while the black thing is still eating my leg. Then it stood and looked at me and started screaming with this very high pitch voice, my heart started pounding vigorously till the point were I thought I was having a heart attack, shortly after it I woke up and everything thing disappeared, I turned on the lights and looked around and there was nothing. So I checked the time and it was around 40 minutes before my alarm. So I just woke up got ready and went to class a bit early , I didn’t even drink coffee. Anyways it was an interesting experience, and a great way to start my day.
Hey man i understand completely from it happening in a dark rooms and also occurring with me sitting in a chairs with all the lights on just please don't forget this that if you want them to instantly depart you all you have to say is Jesus Christ is my savior!! don't hate until you try this
I've experienced sleep paralysis so many times in my life but fortunately I've never seen anything probably best that I can't see whatever is putting pressure on me
Oh my god, same! I wake up usually on my stomach, facing the wall. I normally hear loud ringing in my ear and when something puts pressure on my chest area, it usually ends.
@@MATwoBirds I can’t believe u remember this but now that I think about it, I remember waking up facing the wall too then ask myself how did I see the whole room
I HAVE EXPIRIENCED SLEEP PARALYSIS AND LATER WOULD WAKE UP SAYING THAT WAS NOT TRUE OHH WHAT IF ITS TRUE AND I WOULD START CRYING BUT NOW I HAVE VERY LESS SLEEP PARALYSIS THAT IS A REAL RELIEF OF SLEEP PARALYSIS
I don’t know if I’ve experienced it or not, I’m 11-15 and it was kinda scary. I was just kinda laying there trying to sleep and moved my head. I saw some person staring at me sitting weirdly- I jumped bc it scared me and when I looked back it was gone. It’s a core memory now
oh this one is easy to add to. Coming from someone who has a whole host of sleep problems here is my best advice. One thing to remember if you can is that if you are experiencing sleep paralysis, you are STILL ASLEEP. This is important for this one single tip i can give. If you "wake up" in this state of sleep, FOCUS ON YOUR HEARTBEAT!!! Close your "eyes", and focus on your heart beat and nothing else. When you do, you will instantly become more relaxed and calm and will naturally fall back to sleep. hope this helps.
@@nicoletunai5011 The moment you realize that you can't move,(with me sometimes I even stop breathing), close your eyes first. Then listen to any sounds possible. You should be able to hear yourself breathe or feel it then you can follow that to your heart. With me however, the none breathing part is very terrifying and I actually "open" my eyes, to get intentionally terrified for that shot of adrenaline. Which then I can feel my heart beating out my chest then I close my eyes and I either wake up or go back to sleep. I've been doing this for awhile so I can decide after that fact if I want to stay asleep or not.
i just had it 1 hour ago. it lasted 40 seconds. i felt something in my gut that told me to move so i started trying to move my heel and as soon as i did a couple times my head swung around (i was sleeping on my side), and my whole body turned back on and i was awake. i also kept my eyes closed most of the time. my friend had sleep paralysis the other night so it scared me and i got stressed and now i know not to. what helped me a lot was to stay calm, determined, and keep my eyes closed. (the only thing i saw was a shadow and a voice the whole time)
My best friend got sleep paralysis like a month ago, in the process she got the hallucinations, she said she was hearing a voice behind her, she panicked and thought she was going to die but she managed to be able to speak (like a couple minutes later) and called her mom, curiously she doesn't remember what happend next.
Always remember that although your body is asleep, you're mind is awake. What you see is usually in your control without you releasing it. If you have a wild imagination like me put it to good use if you see something scary. Think of that scene in Harry potter where they turn something terrifying into something funny. If you see something scary try to imagine it doing something funny and it will usually do just that. This has worked for me in the past. I once saw a blue boy in my doorway and it was scary until I made him do a silly dance.
Glad I ain't the only one thinking of that scene when experiencing it, it feels like I have a Trump card making me feel safe altho still scared it feels relaxing at the same time
Thank heavens I don’t hallucinate but I do have weird thoughts still. But strangely enough..not all the time I can think. Which are the ones that really weird me out, I’m just stuck unable to move or think.
True story I was watching a movie with my dog. In my new apartment last year. I dozed off while on my back and had sleep paralysis the weird thing about that is I heard my dog growl at something.
I always feel sad because I want to fight my hallucinations but my body doesn't let me... Also when my sleep paralysis happens I see my room differently making me think it's still part of my dream and then I get out of it and I can see what part of my room made up which part of the hallucinations I experienced... truly fascinating. I never feel scared rather I feel like fighting. Happens very often to me.
This happened to me today. I couldn’t even open my eyes, but I could hear voices and it felt like there were many people with my room. I remember that I was trying to scream but I couldn’t, I felt myself sinking further into it
The first time it happened to me was so terrifying I became very interested in sleep paralysis. The next time it happened I was so aware of it that I was able to exploit the most out of it. I didn't want to end... When it was over I even was able to almost kickstart another episode voluntarily but I felt asleep. The second time was something like a seizure, static, rushing images in black and white and pins and needles, the sense if being weightless, floating out of my body and stiffly moving in all directions, at some point I was upside down and could feel it in my stomach. I could somehow open my arms (*but not in the real world) and I jumped into an abyss of darkness... And then slowly re-incorporated into my body I began to feel my own weight again. It was really nice! All these out of body experiences are nothing but our brains playing tricks on us.
At first it was scary AF , but I've gotten so use to it over many years that when it happens, I know it's sleep paralysis and just wait till it ends or try pushing it to end, even then it's still very unpleasant, but there are worst things in life. I have also noticed, I tend to get it alot more when I'm having problems, troubled mind, overthinking, depression etc, Thanks God I never had an encounter in about a year or so now, I think it's largely due to having a free less over active mindset.
I’ve never had one before, but I might have one in the future. Useful tip, STAY CALM! To prevent it from happening, sleep on your belly or side because usually, the paralysis happens when you sleep on your back. It may not work sometimes, but it might work another. When the paralysis happens, FOCUS ON YOUR BREATHING! THINK ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE FOOD OR SHOWS! Basically think of anything good that can happen. Cheers!

I had sleep paralysis 3 times in a row doing this once!
@@RadioactiveChannel06 since 2 months i also started dealing with sleep paralysis, and also experienced like you multiple time's in a row
when i get them i get multiple times. when i wake up middle of the night to use the bathroom and if i don.t fall back to sleep in 5mins i,ll get sleep paralysis when i try to fall back to sleep. and if that happens to me. i get signs to when im about to get one. it starts with a ringing sound in my head. what i do is i just get back up and walk around for few mins then sit down on my bed for 15 mins then go back to bed and i,ll fall back to sleep with no sleep paralysis and i get a good night sleep. and yeah when i do get of sleep paralsis i,ll feel to sleepy to get back up and close my eye again and then im in sleep paralysis telling my self why did i just not get up. i got saved in sleep parralysis twice in my life. the 1st was from my friends dog. the dog jumped on me and i got out of sleep paralsis right away. and the 2nd time was in my room when i woke up to go bathroom. did not fall sleep in 5mins and when i tryed to fall back to sleep. sleep paralysis again. and while i was in it. my phone was in my pucket and my phone was on vibrate. my friends text me and the phone vibrated and woke me up out of sleep paralysis.

It’s even worse when it happens and you’re sleeping on your stomach. I start feeling like someone is laying on me. It’s creepy as hell🙂

I can't sleep at night because I keep waking up 10-20 mins later in a sleep paralysis.
take melatonin or benadryl, it keeps most ppl from dreaming. don’t fall asleep on ur back. don’t drink caffeine before bed.

Happened to me too

Same! Every time i pray and i can speak and yell the name of Jesus and it instantly helps me break free.

Here are some tips I found
1. Wiggle your toes
2. Breath heavy and frantically
3.Write or chant a holy name
4. Don't open your eyes and try to relax
5. Forcefully move the tip of your finger
6.Think of something good
Try each of them and test which one helps you better . Hope you have a good night.

Now I usually only get the paralysis part of it, but occasionally I'll feel a presence in the room or feel something touch me.
i close my eyes and feel something
Feel something?!! that's gotta freak ya out
The tips to get out from sleep paralysis for myself is:
1. Feel your muscles from your toes or anything from your body
2. Hear your eyes doing Rapid eye movement(if you can. If not go to the 3rd one)
3. The 3rd one is the toughest one without the 2nd cause you need to get into sleep with your conciseness(lucid dream) and order yourself to wake up
Alternative if you can do no 3:
If you feel hear your eyes making humming sound like a motor, try to stop your eyes. If you can you will free from your sleep paralysis
If you couldn't do all of them... You just need to wait, longest is 15 minutes. While waiting you rapidly can try 3rd one
Edit:
Or... You just find another easy way from another people

(the only thing i saw was a shadow and a voice the whole time)
Me: this is a comfortable position to sleep in
Also me in sleep paralysis: why the hell is my body like this
That just happened to me today
What if i imagine myself killing these demons, would they stop harassing me when getting sleep paralysis
I have tried, didnt work for me..
I think the best way is just ignoring them, when im able to do that i will end up falling to more pleasant lucid dream :)
@@JuhoMouse hmmmm. If I ever get sleep paralysis then I'll try it
Imagine god and a cross ...maybe it will work..

My best friend got sleep paralysis like a month ago, in the process she got the hallucinations, she said she was hearing a voice behind her, she panicked and thought she was going to die but she managed to be able to speak (like a couple minutes later) and called her mom, curiously she doesn't remember what happend next.
I kinda wanna experience it, but this sounds terrifying.
Good video by the way!
Chicken Nugget trust me it's not a good feeling

Bright Rose

Chicken Nugget I would love McDonald’s chicken nugget thank dude lolll
I have had sleep paralysis and found it super easy to get out of just by trying really hard to open your mouth rather than moving.
I’ve never experienced sleep paralysis before!! And im happy abt that❤
True story I was watching a movie with my dog. In my new apartment last year. I dozed off while on my back and had sleep paralysis the weird thing about that is I heard my dog growl at something.
I just had an episode and this video and the calmness in her voice is making me scared
oh boy but if you are having an outer body experience, this is a whole different terrifying and painful story. I still haven't gotten used to it yet.
The woman narrating has the most soothing voice I've ever heard.
She could literally tell me my car is in fire 🔥 and I'd be strangely fine with it
This happened to me today. I couldn’t even open my eyes, but I could hear voices and it felt like there were many people with my room. I remember that I was trying to scream but I couldn’t, I felt myself sinking further into it
This is why I still sleep with stuffed animals though I'm WAY to old Lmao
i just think sleep paralysis feels good specially that one were ur like falling down a loop of a void over and over again
Cheers!
I actually slept on the side when i was having a sleep paralysis and there was none!
