I moved to the city as soon as I got the chance when I was younger, and now I’m making plans to head back and do exactly what Fred is doing here. I’m not cut out for this world, it’s too complicated, too much to keep up on, too many bills, too much everything. Time to live a dream and run dogs in the forests of my childhood, and my ancestors. Aho Fred, you’re a mighty role model.

I know the feeling...boy do I know the feeling. You took the words right out of my mouth. The more the world "advances" the more I want to check out.

I can relate to how he feels about being out in the wilderness without the noise of civilization. Just him and his dogs. Yep. I can totally relate.

That my friend was a treat to watch. I can understand the attachment to the dogs as I live in up-state NY and had a kennel of Registered Beagle Hounds for many many years. Old now, had to let the dogs go. Still miss them terribly. Loved being in the woods with the dogs as you do, thanks for sharing.

Sounds cool! Another spot to consider is a job at a Canadian Hunting/Fishing lodge. Usually secluded, room and board all included. Usually work from beginning of May through August....or December if they do hunting. Find a fly in or boat in lodge and you'll certainly have all the solitude you want. You'll meet TONS of people (guests at the lodge). You would need to be a Canadian resident to make it work though.
    Good Luck

That is so cool! I live in MI, and I've always wanted to live out in the wilderness, or be a survival expert. Like Mors Kochanski or that Dick Proenneke fellow. Unfortunately, almost all the land in the USA is owned..it's sad.I don't know what to do, I hate school and I have a serious passion for the outdoors. I'm disgusted with the way society is heading and would just like to bug-out. I'm hoping I could find a person who would be willing to let me live with him in the wild. What a dream!

Exactly, when I turn 18, I plan on leaving my home and heading to a more beautiful state, like Colorado. I am gonna try to work on someones farm for them. I will work all day, every day, if they just supply me with food, water, and clothes. I will even sleep in the barn. At least I will be happy, and feel rewarded for the hard work I accomplish. I will also be in the countryside, where I live in peace and solitude. It is also a good way to meet people, and just see the world a little bit more.
