£327 - Ludwig II is sometimes called the Swan King or der Märchenkönig ('the Fairy Tale King'). However outside of Germany, he is more commonly called "the Mad King" or "Mad King Ludwig". He also held the titles of Count Palatine of the Rhine, Darth Sidious, Duke of Bavaria, Chancellor of the University of Sankore, Duke of Franconia, and Duke in Swabia.
Love the way that the next iteration is on the horizon, so the new pass just allows the devs to create leaders which would have been vetoed for balance issues a few years back 😂
Any game with Etemenanki+LotR&M is a good game in my book, but this one looks like it's going to be a great one. Ludwig isn't as broken as I thought - the ability is ridiculous but the yields aren't quite as high as I expected.
Hubris: (n.) excessive self-confidence. In a sentence: "I'm gonna settle next to Elanore's (Court of Love) and loyalty-flip her city, while I'm getting zero writer points and she's selling her extra books."
The most memorable "kicked out of boarders" unit peril situation I've ever had happened after liberating a city when one of my units got stuck on a tile next to an enemy city centre surrounded cliffs on all other sides. It was take the city or lose the unit.
Just to max the numbers for the algorithm, I listen through. Was wondering what had happened. I still sometimes miss being in the "old" place before I changed tier 😂
The "even when not finished" baffles me. I love wonder centric leaders but this part is just stupid. But as a German I must say it fits. Germany is always a huge construction site with no one working there. (slight exaggeration, ❤ goes out to all those who build our future)
How would you feel about playing some modded leaders? I would recommend JFDs Joesph Stalin as it’s abilities are fun for a domination victory. You can get a nice amount of culture while focusing on science and production due to the civs ability and you get healing when capturing cities. Works well with a tank replacement unique unit
Nah, only sometimes on Sundays. I'd be called a "Frühschoppen". It's like a brunch but more hearty. Schnaps, at least made from grain, isn't really a thing in Bavaria. You'd drink a bit of "Obstler", liquor made from local fruits, if you're feeling frisky though. Of course if you just want to get wasted on the cheap, buy vodka and mix it with anything sweet.
James of St George is amazing for a cultural victory. With Mausoleum he gives over 1000 free base production across your empire (before boosts.) Sure you could use Limes during a City Center world congress vote to put the walls up. But there are other cards you could plug in besides Limes. Free Ancient and Medieval Walls in 3-4 cities is fantastic. Defense, plus culture with Monarchy, and you can go straight to your Renaissance walls. Without Mausoleum he still gives about 900 free base production. On longer game speeds, you can use him to throw up emergency walls when you're suddenly invaded and need defense. I don't know why everyone thinks he's so useless. I get that there are more useful engineers, but I don't think James of St George deserves all the hate he gets!
Etemenanki is so hard to get. The AI always rushes this wonder like crazy, no matter how hard I try, I'm hardly able to get it. Sometimes the AI has built it befor I even researched the tech even if I rush the research. :D
"I think this is English version? *hovers over the pfp to check*" Am I the only one who memorized very quickly that English Eleanor has the wedding hairstyle (if my hair was longer/thicker I'd want my hair to be done like that at my wedding) while French Eleanor has visibly long hair like Rapunzel?
I loved the part when Ludwig II said "it's wondering time" and proceeded to wonder all over the map
One of the games of all time.
this joke is finally accurate
Others: "Why are you building wonders and not completing them, are you mad?"
Ludwig: "Yes, completely".
You have an amazing Great Zimbabwe in your capital. Nobody fully appreciates how strong this wonder is. Please build it :)

He did have a sort of wayward professor look to him tbf
I do believe SourceOfBeing is a pretty dancer. A graduate of the University of Sankore!
And now time for an unusual super early culture victory, our boy Ludwig puts Germany in another tier all to himself, the Ludwig Tier.
Only rivaled by Byzantium

Ludwig is more useful than broken. And so much fun to play!
Playing Ludwig II and the craziest play so far has been Elenore forward settling like a madman... hmmmm
The tactic she least expects!
I'm going to stack that city with court of love items to.... Oh, wait.... Never mind
Look at the texture of the grasses (wheat and rice tiles) near Etemenanki. I want to bury my face in the grasses.

What could go wrong???

been thinking this for a few weeks as the outtro rolls: I hope Henriiii is okay, I enjoyed hearing you say that
Just to max the numbers for the algorithm, I listen through. Was wondering what had happened. I still sometimes miss being in the "old" place before I changed tier 😂
@@portland573 I thought about it a little, and the name seems French, so optimistically I'm gonna assume Henriiii is on strike ✊
Great content as always Ursa!!
Thanks so much! XD
An Elenor's city flipped to you lmao, I love it when you play the Elenor's way against Elenor

I've played a bunch of modded leaders over the last few months - have a look at some of the playlists on my home page - many more to come I'm sure!
@Ursa Ryan Hitler I dare you 😮 😂 love using the panzer tanks and still has hansas
Ohhh, die Deutschen!!! ...hopefully build *the University of Sankore.*
He has the desert to do so, it would be an absolute shame if he didn't.
Yes, such a shame...!
This would be a good game for Anansi .. he is so useful
If you’re a fan of board games you should check out Castles of Mad King Ludwig.
That actually looks very cool, great shout!
What a weird way to get culture. "I might build this" here is culture for it!
Just make sure to keep him away from lakes.
*Bavarian* cultural domination. *Beer and pretzels for all!* 🍺🥨
Sounds like a lovely afternoon!
@@UrsaRyan From what I can tell from my ex-girlfriends family: this is breakfast. In the afternoon her family was already drinking Schnaps.

That was one of the craziest starts to a deity game I’ve ever seen.
It was a good one I can't lie!!
You should have kept that cattle tile to go for the Great Zimbabwe...
Seeing this Wonder-placement-for-Culture tactic in action is bizarre. I can't imagine the AI uses Ludwig even remotely similarly
No, not so much! But Germany in the AI's hands is always scary!

It's very true, he's a sleeper engineer! I guess the effect is less wonderriffic than others but totally agree that he has a lot of use!
I think Ludwig plays better wide than tall. You need space to surround your wonders with districts
I must admit I was hoping you'd pick desert folklore and live the Hansa+Work Ethic dream. Great game regardless.
The Swan King's primary civ color is peacock blue, and it's both the best and worst pairing.
So beautiful tundra tiles. How can I make this? Спасибо
Why is Ludwig so handsome. Its mesmerising.
benedict cumberbatch is an op leader
Ah now I can't unsee it

I've literally never been able to commit it to memory - I try but second guess myself every time!
its too strong when you have all production gold culture and science
silly how there is a ricefield next to tundra
Please rename Frankfurt "Feudalism Boost".
I see a nice Great Zimbabwe
Finally! I'm an Early Bear!
