    Something tells me Fisker owners would struggle to get after-sales support even if the company didn't tank, much like the early days of Tesla or any number of other EV start ups. If any of the people who bought these cars expected any differently, they must have not thought at all prior to purchasing.

      The pushback is common. It slows adoption for sure, but EVs have gotten strong enough that it won't go away, and is big enough that development continues at a brisk pace. The number of EVs on the road continues to rise, almost certainly even in New Zealand, incentivizing the buildout of EV charging infrastructure. Hopefully, they work on their generation mix in the mean time. I can't imagine renewables can't outcompete oil.

    • @Dularr

      It's up to the EV to compete on their own.

    • @ImLivinSD
      @ImLivinSD 7 месяцев назад

      @fjalics Maybe the push back is because EV's are making Cars, Insurance and Electricity more expensive for those of us that don't even drive an EV.

    • @fjalics
      @fjalics 7 месяцев назад

      @ImLivinSD First off, I don't believe you have put in the effort it would take to demonstrate that it's true where you live. The only way it would make sense is if demand was increasing faster than generation, and even then, you would have to show it wasn't a datacenter doing AI, or your local grid sucks like mine. We don't have meters that can measure when I use electricity, so I have a flat rate, which is dumb. I should be encouraged to charge when prices are low, because then it would LOWER prices, due to higher utilization.

    Airless tires:
    - more consmption due much more rotating mass
    - more road noise due to turbine blade design
    - mostly rubber vs. mostly air -> a lot of waste to the landfill?

    • @jacobcarlson4010
      @jacobcarlson4010 7 месяцев назад +4

      Mostly true, minus the tires going to the landfill; these days, most are recycled. And to be clear, all the other points you brought up would be huge drawbacks if they were being used for passenger cars driving on roads; I suspect they’ll be targeted at off-road users, like grain farmers.

    • @chow-chihuang4903
      @chow-chihuang4903 7 месяцев назад +1

      One problem I’ve yet to see any airless tire design solve is debris, ice, snow, etc. getting caught or packed in the open spaces. For low-speed applications on rough surfaces, this might be acceptable, but on paved roads, just a little amount will result in enough imbalance to yield very noticeable wobbling and vibration. I had really bad shimmy one winter, and all it took was a bit of snow and ice caught behind a wheel cover.

    Not sure how i feel about military ev’s, especially for combat vehicles. It’s one thing to be able to store and fuel vehicles with gasoline and diesel, but the storage requirements and power requirements to charge thousands of combat vehicles is going to be impractical logistically. Maybe for noncombat vehicles it could work or if a combustion engine is kept onboard and a battery back added for faster acceleration or quiet operation when needed.

    Toyota, Subaru, Honda, Mazda, Suzuki and almost every other Japanese automaker was found to have been falsifying documentation about emissions. fuel consumption and safety of their vehicles... for over a decade! Japan's transport ministry probed Toyota for submitting incorrect or manipulated test data when they applied for certification of the vehicles.
    - Providing modified vehicles for crash tests. Some filled with expanding foam and welded brackets. Akio said... "Sorry." Yea... "You're most likely to die in our vehicles, but who cares!". Also added "Customers did not need to stop using their cars." ...
    - Even after being sued and fines, they continued to submit falsifying documentation about emissions, fuel consumption and noise.
    - Installing modified engine control software. Same as the ones in VW and Mercedes.
    - Using timers to set off airbags during crash tests, instead of sensors.
    Previous lawsuits and atrocities.
    - Hiding emissions documentations for over a decade about their filthy hybrids. - Sued, found guilty but payed to cover the story.
    - Falsely advertising 6 times lower foul consumption than real world data. - Sued, found guilty but payed to cover the story.

    You are just wrong about charging to 100% at a DCFC in some instances. We traveled from Bozeman, MT to Durango, CO via Yellowstone NP and Venal, UT and we couldn't have made some legs of the journey without charging to 100%. This judgemental nonsense without context is just stupid.

      You chose an edge case, and there are always edge cases. There’s a Sunday musing coming expressing JUST that. I’m at a loss as to how to not offend people while reporting the news… - Nikki

      As someone who regularly road trips through “less DC dense” areas while towing a trailer; yes, it is occasionally _necessary_ to charge above 80%. But it is rare. And this isn’t about those rare edge cases, this is about people abusing the free charging that comes with their vehicles.

      @@Aerostealth Then don’t take offense, because the description of what is being complained about doesn’t apply to you!
      Just like complaints about over-large EVs don’t apply to people who actually make use of them. People who use the capability of EV pickups aren’t who that complaint is against. People who fill all 7 seats of 7-seat EVs aren’t who the complaint against large EVs is about.

      @AnonymousFreakYT not all people who charge to 100% are doing so selfishly and ruining it for everyone else. This point of view is childish.

    This is what Sandy goes on and on about! Tesla engineering is 10 years ahead of every one else, and they have no signs of slowing down. Even she has to finally admit it

      @@transportevolved No I am saying you have a selective memory. You consider Telsa evil while praising GM, a company that changed a part without changing the part number as it was cheaper to simply payout the lawsuit rather than issue a recall.
