Great video, but after 15 years, I've stepped away from the K&N/JWT Popcharger/Z1 filters and have started using AEM DryFlow filters. They don't require oiling, they have been documented as filtering better and they're FAR easier to clean. Price is about the same and they make filters that fit the JWT/Stillen intake kits.

I just installed a k&n cold air intake in my 2006 350z rev up. Now car cranks but doesnt start. Security light is on. Any idea what could be the reason causing this? Thanks!

Do you have a spare key to try? Your immobilizer is activating for some reason.

Lets more particles in your engine tho.. that ain’t good. I’ve had k&n in the past but have gone back to oem filters on my toyota suv’s.

Never had any issues with it. Gave me a little more power/response in my civic..car sounded way better, engine felt/sounded healthier, and was better on gas.

We're going over 300,000KM though. I've have friends that put over 400,000KM on a truck using a K&N air filter.
How much mileage are you putting on where you see the K&N caused significant wear?

Oem filters are restrictive and can cause power loss as they get dirtier. If particles get through the engine valves. Your catalyst efficiency will potentially get clogged. I've only seen this happen when you have vacuum air leaks that throws codes. Also the black carbon on the mass airflow sensor/ throttle body is from the oil Recirculation vapors and not particles from the air filter. For those that know why we use catch cans can drastically improve the lifespan. Having AJ as one of the best content creators on preventative maintenance is why I've become better at what I have done with all of my cars over the years. Theoretically have been tried and true
